I agree with this guy. Anyone who has seen Sun Online, Zera Online, Rohan Online, or World2 will tell you how good the graphics and worlds in each look. They flat out look 100 times better then alot of stuff i'm seeing coming from non-asian companies.
PS: I get a good laugh everytime someone says Eve-Online and Good Graphics in same sentence. Like Elanator (sorry if I got your name wrong) I fail to see how you come to that conclusion about Eve-Online. There are no real graphics outside of the ship models.

On the best system, EQ2 wins, hands down. It's just so far ahead of most other games out there. This is based on graphics not artwork. They are just mind numbing. Saga of Ryzom in second place, a fairly close second, but not that close.
Eve looks tremendous too, but is not quite up to par with the sheer poly crunching godliness that is EQ2. And don't say I'm wrong until you have one heck of a sweet computer and have played through some of the upper tier zones.

In motion, i tend to agree, EQ2 is beautiful in motion simply because the animations are masterfully done. I havent had the privilage of playing it on the highest setting so i can only comment on screenshots and movies, but that will hopefully change this weekend.
Eve looks good on most computers, i think thats the whole point. For the average player with the average rig eve will look much better then EQ2 does. Now i do agree that eve does have its flaws such as low polygon count, undetailed textures and very little overall detail, but those flaws go undetected when you play it for the first time on a low end rig and marvel at its beauty. For 9 out of 10 players, most mmo's on the market will look better then EQ2.

CoV is the second, but I am a fanboi and the fact it run smoothly and lag free with incredible speed movements for the player made it just awesome (would be impossible to move like that lagfree in a Norrath setting I fear). Peoples tend to underestimate it graphics, they doesn't like the setting, this is all. I find it funny to see folks thinking a game like WoW for example have better graphics, it clearly show the fact they want to escape Real Life rather than actually consider the graphics for their quality. CoV is very nice and if you take lag into account, it become the best game for the graphics... (take a human in WoW and compare it to a human model into CoV and you know that WoW is many categories lowers, the details are just not there...CoV cover those details very nicely...the graphics are great...but they are...current days...and peoples underate current days in a game to escape real life).

EVE hasn't had a GFX overhaul for ages, so I got a promise for you: When DirectX 10 hits (Soon..) you can all go back and take a look at EVE, I've seen the pre-screens.. "Oh. My. God." - mind you those graphics have been the same for about 3 or 4 years. (Besides the plastic doll feel of EQ2 didn't give me much) Also the sheer size of EVE gives it away - the following screen is an actual size chart of current ships in-game Clicky See the little dirt spots at the far right... Ships..
Also for those complaining about EVE being a big nothing.. What did you expect SPACE to be filled with? Trees? Flowers?
And for those who don't want to go from place to place- feel free to take the real life way and not warp
Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW... It all sucked.
Im not sure I really understand the whole plastic model thing I do agree it looks like that on screenshots but ingame I dont think it does. Infact the first time I saw screenshots I dont think they were on full graphics and it kind of turned me off but when I started to play I was blown away.
I do Agree Eve does look Great as well but I could never get far in because of the controlls so unfortunatly I never got to see the later aspects

No, 'P' is better than 'B', therefore I'm showing just how 'gumby' EQ2's graphics are, by using a letter that's higher up in the alphabet.

Here is the problem with a "best graphics" thread.
Technically EVE's graphics are EXTREMELY simplistic. It's just a wallpaper on a 3D Box. There is NOTHING to doing that. Get some art. Take a digital scan of it. Stick it on the 3D box. No work required. It's easy, fast and painless and requires almost no technical skills whatsoever.
Artistically EVE's graphics are very good, among the best.
So in a "Best Graphics" thread the way I look at it is a combination of technical and artistic.
Technical + Artistic / 2 = Score
EVE: Artistic: 10 Technical: 3 Averatge: 6.5
EQ2: Artistic: 8 Technical 10 Average: 9
See why I say EQ2 Has "better" graphics? I agree Eve's are better LOOKING but the overall score for graphics in general isn't just look, it's also technical. For me. For others all they care about is the look. But when I rate the graphics of a game I'm thinking about how difficult it was to implement those graphics. So while EQ2 has some weak areas, visually, I then go "hmm... but those areas were a LOT harder to draw than a 3D Box in space"...
Hope you get where I, and others, are coming from when we say that "while EVE is very pretty, it's not exactly a technological breakthrough, graphically".

Hmm stupidity? Or forward thinking? EQ2's graphics will still be solid 2-3 years from now while WoW's will be 2nd rate by everyone's standards because the low end systems, by then, will be running EQ just fine. WOW's artwork is very good. But it's only real 'impressive' feature is that it runs well on older rigs. IMO...
Hell, a good mid range system today will run EQ2 just fine on nearly max settings. My 3.2ghz system with a 6800/256 runs EQ at full settings pretty well. My brother has almost an identical rig with a 7800 and the 3.4ghz chip and he runs it at full with no lag whatsoever.
So was it truely 'stupid' for them to plan for new hardware coming out and making their engine smooth? Or was it forward thinking?
Mind you: I no longer play EQ2 because I don't particularly like the avatar graphics. But their engine is top notch and will continue to be high quality for quite some time.

When it comes between WoW and EQ2, I kinda like both of them and think the quality is amazing on each side. Personally, I have a preference towards the Warcraft style of art but that purely preference.
EQ2's technology is in the end, amazing. Like El though, and I do currently play EQ2 btw, I'm not a big fan of the Avatars, the character creation is detailed in an uneffective way it seems, mind you in my eye's thats gotten better with the addition of SOGA models.
Best graphics of them all for me though, I'd probably go with Saga of Ryzom, I mean I didn't play it all that long, just wasn't my thing and felt very unpolished, but some of the sceens would just blow me away. Alot like when I first started playing SWG as a matter of fact.
When I think of graphics, I think sceens, situations, things that make you sit back in your comfy cozy computer chair, look at your screen and think to yourself "Now that is awesome !" That's what graphics are to me.
You can have all the funky technology in the world, you can say your game will look awesome on next gen computers, you can say that the graphics are stylized art not meant for everyone's taste, you can have 20k different character models or just 2 but if you can't make me hold my breath or make my pulse race because the horizon in the game makes you melt... whats the point ?

I would have to go with EQ2 It just looks to good with a good comp. I can play on full graphics with no slow downs so Im happy It just looks to good
