I think I will wait until next year to give it a try, let the hype die down and the queues to free up. Plus I'm moving back to the UK early next year so no point progressing a character on the NA servers only having to restart when I move.
I wouldn't be surprised if Trion add another server or two...
Somehow I think they weren't expecting this. At all.
They were expecting it. Headstart had decent Queue so obviously the release day is going to be worse. By release day they could have added 4 more servers which would have gave the release players a fresh server to jump on to attempt to get land and not be so far behind. Even with 4 more servers there would still be Queue's on most servers but nothing like what we have now.
Normally I play at odd times so this doesnt affect me much, but I do have to say that I am going to steer clear of any new MMO where the developers talk conservative servers for the start. Paying a subscription and being forced to wait 2hrs to log in is simply not worth it to me. I dont have 2 hours I can waste just to get into a game, considering this isnt even including play time of which mine is limited to 2 hrs a night.
While this is annoying it is still for the best. Players do play more for the first 2 weeks so adding too many servers early would be a serious mistake in a game where merging servers would be a total nightmare due to player owned farms in the open world.
You can get complaints the first 2 weeks, or you can get them from week 3 and onwards...
Nice try, but those server queues lines are ridiculous and the longest I've ever seen.

I'm guessing you forgot about WoW. You have to factor in that AA has only 6 servers, while WoW had 88 servers. (http://www.wowwiki.com/Timeline_of_the_creation_of_US_realms), which had thousands of players waiting in queue, for just about every server released. These were just US servers too.

Ummmm you do realize its 2014 right? I've played or tried about 20-30 MMOs since WOW was released and not witnessed anything close to what I'm seeing here. Has anyone ever heard of something called "Lessons Learned"?

From what I heard, WoW had stuff like server crashes it was so bad, so I think you might be overexaggerating.
Once the patron queues are fixed - it won't matter much to me (yes I'm a patron)
Patrons will jump the queue - F2P players will wait in line.
Now i remember that when i start playing in RU a few months ago, there was some queue in my server (10, 15min), and was supose to have 2 diferent queues, premiums and f2p, but that system wasnt working. Lets see if it is going to be diferent here or its a game issue that Trion dont have power to solve it.
And i allready sub for patron in my account but dont activate, dont know if i need to do something in-game (im still in queue) or is broken.
I havent been able to even get in the game the last 4 days longer than an hour or so, its been pretty much que up after work, make dinner, take a shower, check my daily websites, check que "oh another hour wait" check more websites, que is up enter game run around for a bit crash and reenter que, 2800+ in que, back to checking other sites until its almost midnight and go to bed after exiting que.
The "we didn't anticipate this many players" argument is a sound bite. Nothing more.
It's 2014. The genre has been around for nearly twenty years. There are games that have had very good launches. Yet this one has some very serious issues and everyone is just fine with it? 'It's normal for launches? I'm sorry, I don't agree with this at all. There is NO excuse (except perhaps some natural disaster) for queues of more than 15 minutes. I don't give a flying shit what game it is. There is no excuse for it. Anything other than that and you are showing that you are either incompetent or cheap. I'm voting most fall into the latter.
I can't believe people will sit in a queue for hours upon hours. I just don't understand it. Doesn't it piss you off they decided you were not important enough to spend the extra money or resources on? Maybe I'm just too old, but gaming is something I look to for enjoyment and entertainment. There is nothing entertaining about sitting in a queue.
The more and more the players accept this, the stronger these actions are reinforced.

The queue system is working fine. Patrons queues are shorter than f2p queues. Trion said that the two queues are separate, they are just working on a visual display to show it. In the original version of the queueing system (headstart) you could clearly see numbers of patrons and numbers of f2p people.
There is one big issue at the moment. There is a bug which made pretty much all f2p players patrons. So now all of a sudden all the f2p get priority queueing and we end up queueing for 3-5 hours. I heart some people had to wait 7 hours.
Once all f2p's patron status is removed queues will come down for subscribers.

AA is the Kanye West of MMOs. Its overrated, sucks quite a bit, pretends to be better than competitors, but in the end, enjoys any PR it can get, good or bad.
I tried logging in earlier today and sat in queue for two hours before I had to give up. Now I just tried logging in and I'm at 4400, which is Tahyang, which is the server with the *lowest* wait
I've not been able to play at all since launch. Sad stuff.
<munches popcorn> Whole launch week so far has been some good (but very predictable) forum drama...
Land Grab OMG What Do We Do Now Drama Founders VS. Starter Packs We Want Blood Drama I Paid For Headstart And Now I'm Waiting 12 Hours In This Forsaken Queue Drama
Those are only some of it. Personally waiting a week or two before I try to play again, I won't die a horrible death but I can understand the frustration of those who have paid for various patron or founders packs. Those of you with hundreds of games on Steam might want to try playing some for a while :-)
Patron Status isn't being applied to all it should, which means you end up as a f2p until they sort it out, people are sitting in game AFK to get LP
The kick system doesn't help much ax all they have to do is have something timed to move them one bit and AFK is lifted and the count starts again.
So until f2p players get bored and leave, you'll have q's that size
As for the land, people have already grabbed loads of houses and are selling them to the highest bidder, I think I saw 1 post where a guy was advertising the 27 houses he'd got for sale lol

Hmmm, you are getting way faster then me. 3h now allready in queue, only went from 4.300 to 1.859 on Eanna.
Tomorow i need to put in queue on lunch time, maybe i can play on evening after work

If the game is bad, the fewer servers wont help it. They will still become ghost towns eventually.

Since when is Tuesday a direction?
They are broken? Cause that would be light at the end of the tunnel for me as a patron at least...
Hodor!

sounds like 5K a server and if every one of the 8 north americans is avging a 4K queue what does that mean
you could have 5 more servers and just keep the door lights on with no possibility of other people....which it will as word then gets round.....
they should really really drop 3 per each this week .....and see how it goes....
do another 3 next week....per area....
its uber sad even the rift update for 25 megabytes is like 16K downlaod and its not on my end.
that should tell you what really is going on .
Couple hours ago was at 3200...now at 1750 =p
