It’s no secret that most MMO quests are incredibly boring. If it weren’t for the engaging gameplay, multiplayer camaraderie, or epic scenarios that players find themselves, chances are this genre wouldn’t exist any longer. If you compare the questing found in most recent MMO releases to that of early pioneers, the types of quests are almost identical.

I agree that TSW has excellent quests. The most fun I had though in questing in SWTOR. Considering that all flashpoints and operations are quests/missions as well it makes it truly unique in MMOs - regarding to quality and how well they are made, at least the ones that I played.
Example of the first flashpoint On Empire Side: Black Talon... I made it myself /grin

Lol, i think few die hard teso fans just committed suicide seeing their favorite game behind Gw2 *chuckles*
Ontopic, I agree that questing in TSW was one of the best I've ever played in an MMO environment.
Also, personally, I would place SWTOR at 2nd place and shift the rest 1 slot up, removing Runescape from the list. I really did not enjoy playing this game
Agree with Nemesis (on both part, gw2 was bland to me as well). TOR is not among my top favourite games, but I think it ought to have a slot on a List about questing... My 5 would be:
TSW (obviously )
STO (both the Seasons and the Foundry content)
TOR (Agent ftw)
LotRO (writing, and also some new mechanics in questing with the last few revamps),
and on the 5th either Neverwinter (the Foundry, the original storyline is fairly average imo, though the lore is nicely used) or AoC (nice NPC mechanic and I like the writing too).
Smile
GW2 - great story
TSW - great story talent wheel has to many useless skills you have to take.
ESO - great story game just too buggy'
STO - a few bugs but not bad.
SWTOR - If you could level just by doing the mine story it would be great.
NWO - good but the fighting gets to be so repetitive.
MH - great story just too short

I agree. If have to quest, those are the best. GW2 living story and the main quest line are really dull. I loved the freedom the game offered though.
Oh and I forgot the best of the best quests Archeage! Haha, playing it right now and thought everyone would get a laugh out of that.
Err, GW2 great story? I played to level 80 one time and I don't remember any story. Yes there were some cutscenes, but I have absolutely no idea what the story was about, and I was actually watching all the cutscenes.
These lists on this site are funny. They always try so hard to shove GW2 in them somehow, even though it is plainly obvious that the game simply doesn't belong in certain lists (such as this one).
Better list imo:
1. Secret World
2. Runescape
3. Neverwinter
4. Elder Scrolls
5. SWTOR
Biggest change is pretty much the removal of GW2 and its replacement by Runescape. The Runescape quests are a step above everything but TSW easily. GW2 quests do not stand out to me at all, even just the main storyline quest is forgettable, not sure how it ended up on this list.
Elder scrolls and SWTOR actually feel very similar questing-wise to me, SWTOR is more grindy though, which is why its lower.

Likewise I would have removed GW2. There was nothing particularly entertaining or memorable about the GW2 quests; even the main storyline felt amateurish and uninspired and the rest of the zones just felt like ticking items off a 'To Do' list (as someone else said above).
I would have had SWTOR a little further up the list as some of the main storylines were a lot of fun, even if all the cut scenes and solo-centric gameplay felt slightly out of place in an mmo.
The presentation did not feel different really at all besides the removal of the yellow exclamation point. all of the 'activities' that popped up randomly and the quests really were not any different than most run of the mill mmo quests.

But the questing itself is not very enjoyable because most of them boil down to killing x amount of mobs until the bar is filled up, or collecting x amount of stuff until the bar is filled up, which makes it a repetitive grind. It took me like 5 tries to reach lvl 80 because I simply got bored of doing the same thing in every zone.
