Yes I am a new user, and I signed up initially to vote for ESO and TSW.
I am going to assume you are not representative of the users of this site and stick around
which is what the real site owners had in mind in the first place.
You belittle the staff of this site if you think they can not tell a multi account by ip address

He, like many others, are upset because the plethora of new accounts have influenced the outcome of the polls. This has been going on and it continues to happen. In reality his comment may not be directed specifically at you as much to the situation and volumes of people who created accounts for the sole purpose of bad mouthing games, other posters and alter the polls. While ESO is a popular game, the people who have been on this site know it never would have won this contest if things were properly monitored and controlled. This is a not a knock by any means against ESO, but the people that post here regularly know the interest in games on this site by the volume of threads and comments of the other posters.

Well, it's your OPINION that ESO would never have won this contest. I'm not saying there weren't new accounts created solely to vote for one game or another. I'm just saying that everyone thinks the same as you but about every other game too. It's human nature to think everyone thinks the same as you.
You don't like ESO so obviously nobody would have normally voted for ESO and the only people to do so must have been told to while playing ESO and then created multiple accounts to skew the results. Anyone can come in here and say the same thing about EVE, My Little Pony Super Adventure Time, etc. A while back the exact same thing DID happen with EVE. No game is immune, no contest is immune.
More than likely most games on this list did have some people create multiple accounts, not just ESO. It's the internet. That's what happens when you try and compare Ford vs Chevy, Apple vs PC, etc. You have some people that vote honestly, you have people that vote for 1 thing rather than the other simply because they hate the 1, and you have people that like something so much they cheat.
This same discussion with the same accusations against *insert game name here* has happened over and over since the first vote this site has ever had. That's why many of us just take this as a bit of fun, not an actual, honest idea of how popular one game is compared to another. It's the internet like I said, so you'll never have a true, honest answer to such a discussion.
People around here are being butts. Stop being butts. You are getting distressed and insulting others over which video game you like most.
"There is no WAY people like that game! I haven't played it but my game is SUH WEEEEEEET!"
"UGH that game is the worst I played it at launch and there were BUGS!"

Do you have a screen shot of that accusation? I log in to ESO every day and I never saw anything like that. The only thing I've seen from the staff is a forum moderator on one thread pop in to say great job.
Yeah, i never saw that. ESO haiters Photoshop?
If somebody, except screen author proves this, then i will believe.
Yes, it shows on my ESO screen too. WOW, someone gives you proof and you blow it off? Must be fun in life.

I play both, though more ESO than LOTRO lately. Still, Lotro wins by a hair because of community, story, and total content -- despite Turbine's dumbing down of the game, neglecting of hardcore players, and lack of challenging new raiding content.
ESO has been a fun game but without soul (pun intended). The story is flat and becomes completely disconnected from end-game. There is little sense of community because loyalty is spread among multiple guilds and one cannot even play with real-life friends that might have chosen different alliances. In LOTRO it is fun to level multiple classes. In ESO there is less reason since a single character can be so versatile and because veteran leveling is impossibly boring. Still, many improvements have been made in ESO and it is under active development. By this time next year ESO will be the easy choice unless LOTRO can figure out how to get out of its funk.
What do these accounts have in common? All created recently and all voting for ESO........ESO fans seem desperate.

And they all only have posts in this thread.
All you need are multiple e-mail addresses which are very easy to get these days. It's possible they could all be the same person. Must really love the game if that's the case.

Hi Yes I created this account here to participate in the vote ... I hope that's okay? Seemed like a fun thing to take part in. And yes, I do love ESO ... recently renewed my sub and very happy spending my online time running around the game. I left DDO in April and haven't been back since.
All I would add to those who are deriding the voters who made an account here because the contest seemed like fun ... likely this contest was devised so that the membership here would rise - no?
I played LotRO for a short time a couple years ago. It didn't hold my attention, but may be I didn't give it enough time before I stopped. Dunno, really. But I'd had enough of Turbine's 'pay to not play' micro transactions in DDO to want to sink money into Lotro.

Normally, I would agree with your comments. In this case, I think psychosiz's case is on point. Too many of the new posters support ESO. As the voting has gone on, this has been very apparent watching the threads. The point about thread and game popularity also lends further probability to his point. I am on here regularly and have been for the last few years, I saw pirate 101 win game of the year ago much in the same way. While ESO is clearly a better gaming experience than pirate 101, the comparisons are too similar to ignore.
Well, the general feeling I'm getting is that the community here don't want new people joining the site. Kinda regretting making my 'cheer' post for ESO in what seemed like a fun contest. If I'd known it would lead to me being accused of making multiple accounts, I wouldn't have bothered. Really you should probably take it up with the management here if you would like to see a contest for members who've been around for a specified amount of time, even though they probably did this contest to promote this site more than anything else.
"I can say from trying it now that ESO does deserve the praise it is getting, it is drastically improved over launch and their devs are days from a PTR patch that enables stealing, pick pocketing, and killing NPCs - with consequences of course. Just the kind of stuff I see being requested by MMORPG.com sandbox fans all the time."
And also breaking the Champion and Vetransystem lying about it and looking at the Forum losing atleast a few players fro it.
"LoTRO obviously deserves credit. When we first started playing everquest, we all thought "This would be amazing with Lord of The Rings." Now that game exists, it has an open seamless world, and manages to have a large variety of classes (including one of my favorites to play in any MMO, the Warden) without breaking lore."

Not sure what is giving you that feeling. I don't think of any us members mind new people joining. We were all new to this site at one point or another. I think it's more that most feel that the people who are already members are making multiple accounts have basically skewed the votes, thus pretty much invalidating this whole "contest". If you are actually posting on an an alternate account, and not your main, then you already know this. If you are indeed a new poster then welcome to MMORPG.com.
Of them all ESO has the most potential going forward. ESO had a very shaky start but in the last year has been refined into the game we all expected. I liked Lotro and it is massive but it looks dated now and I despise all the F2P contraptions.
Look, honestly most people on here are like me, they register, create an account, new or another, and vote for the game they want to win.
What I did differently was make other new accounts (like others have as well). Most of the people in my guild did as well. We all voted for ESO. Most of them created accounts and have never posted on here. A few have. With our numbers, I guarantee we are making a difference.
I'd bet most don't really care who wins...
Quick question though, if that is indeed what you're doing.. Under what motivation? For ESO to win or screw the poll? IF it's for ESO to win why come and announce it? Doesn't make sense, if the motivation is for your game to win, you've given ample reason for a do over... Again doesn't make sense. Unless of course like I said you're trolling the poll.
There's also a third option you're not really an ESO fan at all and are instead concerned about it being ahead. Either way none of it makes sense.

Try and make their community look bad! Maybe they won't be as popular! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Really though, here are four good games. Pull your head out of your butt and go try letting go of your bitterness. I bet you can get a lot more enjoyment out of these games than you can out of trying to manipulate a popularity vote.

Pretty sure it's a combination of the two. He's looking to discredit the game by making it look like it couldn't win without cheating. It would be interesting to see where his vote actually lay. :P
I was also under the impression this site cracked down pretty hard on multi-accounters, yet he's still posting. Either way, I'm pretty sure he's violating the terms of the site.
