Yeah. You noticed how steady it has been too? Its almost as if someone has gotten really fast at making accounts or figured out a way to defeat the captcha...
I have this mental image of someone full of hate for ESO in a basement somewhere surrounded by Oreo crumbs doing it over and over

The Secret World all the way. Though I don't play anymore it really can't be beaten. Surprised so many and a true testament to what can actually be done in a stale game space such as MMORPGs
I agree Wholeheartedly. One thing Funcom does right is original content. TSW is an amazing game. If they added some expansions (game world) I would go back for sure. I still log on to this day though
To me, ESO, LOTR are both bad games, Bad play style, Runs poor on a lot of systems, and just well BORING. No Content, Nothing, Aion Lost with me cause of the Hacks and Rubber Banding, LOTR just well is really a outdated Engine and needs to be scrapped, ESO is just over rated, Characters look funky.

Majgic8ball's first post in which he claimed that he and his guild had created multiple accounts on MMORPG to vote for ESO was made on the forums for the semi-finals after the voting closed and ESO had won. I copied that post and pasted into a PM which I sent to Bill Murphy, Managing Editor for MMORPG.com, and whose name and image are in the introductory post on this thread. His reply was that MMORPG.com does not check IP addresses or verify accounts and is not set up to. His attitude was that everybody had the option to create as many accounts as they wanted so that made it fair.
Majgic8 might be trolling but he started it after ESO had already won the semi-finals and before the finals even started.
That's odd, because one of the website rules is exactly:
"Multiple Accounts
If the staff of MMORPG.com discovers that a user is creating and/or using multiple accounts, that user, and all accounts, both past and present, will be banned from MMORPG.com."
Now that doesn't mean that banning them would take away the votes of all of those accounts, but still, they should be banned, as it says they will be.
Majgic8ball's post said he had all his guildees make accounts. Not multiple accounts each. The plural of guildees requires the pluralization of account. You don't say, I had all my guildees make account to vote. People gonna hate.
so im reading some review on the homepage about an expansion to LotRO.. a new race etc... as i started reading im thinking ah yeah, thats why all the forced publicity on this thread. but then i realised that the review was less than positive. followed by replies of what seems to be foggy eyed RPers who both love the game and seem to be accepting that it is nearly dead.
this confuses me even more... its contending for most popular and yet its players (the ones not intent on attacking eso) have little praise for it?

sooo which of these games you mentioned have you spent time playing?
u should try tsw if u want something different... or, read a book?
lol yup another hate vote. lotro being there is irrelevant.
Yup. Scarlet Blade would have a shot if it was up against ESO in the finals.

Yeah, it couldn't possibly be that LOTRO has a lot of dedicated players and a strong community who are happy to vote for it, with forum support and people posting in game to vote? Or that it's actually a good game?

Switch out LOTRO with ESO and that's why they are both here.

Anything is possible but then again....
In the past year ESO had 6,426,661 unique hits in this site, the second most was Wildstar around 3 Mil and on down to Neverwinter @ #10 with just over 1 Mil... LOTRO is somewhere below that because they only publish the top 10. And those are just hits... positive, negative or indifferent.
So yeah, whether you like LOTRO or not, this is an ESO yay or nay vote.

I'm commenting on the people saying that LOTRO is only there because of duplicate accounts or bots. As a player of both games I would say they both deserve the place on their own merits.

LOTRO in its first year would have had many more hits as well. It's an old game that's had very little news in the past year. Hits on here mean nothing about how good a game is or its player base.

No shit, Sherlock.
But it does indicate what the people who come to this forum are focusing on.

It was interesting to watch the drop off in popularity with ESO once things got nice and stable.
I honestly believe many of those hits were from people coming to watch a train-wreck that never happened. Then ArcheAge starts getting all the hits once it becomes the new train-wreck and ESO levels out with a healthy and positive sub-base.

Lol... yeah you're absolutely right. I actually took a short break from ESO to play Archeage...
I thought I had seen hate against a game before but holy crap! Hate against AA and Trion really took the cake.

After my treatment from Turdbine customer service after many years of being a paying customer I will never vote for any of their games, that said ESO despite it's troubles is far more of a fresh game than a 7 year old P2W stale left over.
I voted for the first time in this site a few days ago and here are some things i want to say.
Just by witnessing the stance some users are holding here. I've also been watching the comments here on this section and i've made some conclusions.
According to ESO voters :
A) Whenever there's a comment that bashes ESO (justified or not) from a supposed "ESO hater", it's always a true projection of how the LOTRO players or the ESO Haters are. The comment is 100% true and gets quoted by ESO players , to prove something. How superior is the ESO community to all their haters (for whatever reasons).
Whenever there's a good comment for LOTRO, Elder Scrolls supporters start saying things like "you can't be serious" , "OMG have you ever played ESO???".
C) Whenever there's a comment that presents part of the ESO community badly (see that comment that the guy said that he voted ESO and made multiple accounts to do so, and he forced his friends in his guild to do the same thing),ESO supporters, either didn't say a thing or there were people that quoted him and "Proved" he was trolling.
D) By the way when a comment that presents part of the LOTRO community badly those same users instantly quote his comment as something which is true and sincere. Everyone who doesn't like ESO after all is a hater and a peasant. (also see 1)
E) But when ESO supporters were complaining that "Lotro was getting a vote every 5 minutes...This is certain abuse of multiple voting". It is so weird that a game gets 1 vote every 5 minutes, but it's not the same for ESO... By the way where did you get the stats that it's 1 vote every 5 minutes? Is there a graph or a total counter that says how many votes each game has?
No? Well thought so.
ESO players have set it their personal crusade to prove how superior their game is. Well i'm sorry, but anyone with a decent IQ can understand your pretty sick gaps in logic and convenience arguments ("I take an assumption as fact, only when it's convenient for my ideology).
Keep it up. People are already talking seriously the possibilty of ESO becoming F2P (while Zenimax said quite the opposite all those years) and will become one more P2W fest .
Iselin, guard this vote with tooth and nail. If LOTRO surpasses ESO , Satan will eat our children...
Everyone has its own agenda... I bet you have one too

ESO doesn't deserve to win. Totally biased voting. I can't believe that a game that has bled subs, that has less than 200k players
Ok, how did you find out how many players ESO has?.. Link please.
