Started playing this after playing about a week of Echo of Soul... it really made me feel better about MMORPGs. The English translation is useless at the moment, but that aside it is a beautiful game. Sprint>Jump>Glide is great, and the visuals of the game are really nice. Yes it is themepark, but so far it has not been a huge grind, and the quests are actually pretty entertaining. I am not a fan of questing either! I am only level 11 though, still early days...

Looks like NCSOFT will publish both NA and EU without third parties like gameforge:

    Archeage EU - Nui

Myeah, I might try it but I don't particularly dig the info on the game.

PvP needs to be drama and butthurt for me; it doesn't need to be driven by some gear or points award but by social standing and rivalry. That's what drives a game for me after playing Age of Wushu / Wulin.

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

F.I.N.A.L.Y!   I've played the game a lot on both the chinese and the russian servers. This is an absolute gem for the wuxia niche. Here are some asnwers to the numerous concerns from this thread :

    1. Outdated - depends on how dated you mean. Right now we have had a pretty large paredime shift in how mmorpgs are being made. Basicaly the idea atm is to cram as many features as you can down the player's throat so he has no idea where to even start and always has that sence of doing anything he wants. It has moved quite far away from the original themeparks. B&S is still one of those "original" themeparks where you don't have any sandbox elements AT ALL. You have a story, quest hubs, mass pvp and structured pvp. Raids to top it off. Nothing more.

To many this might sound crap, but you must consider just HOW WELL these cores of themepark MMOS are made. The combat system is probably the best in the whole market atm. It's a mix of tab-targetting and aiming, however is based heavily on comboes, predictions, cc breaks and counterskills. The combat feels nearly like playing a competitive 2D fighting game, but in 3D. Every element to make it extremely competitive with a huge skillceilling is there. Thus, it has a huge esports following in Korea atm.

The story is, as many have already mentioned, extremely well written and actualy quite engaging for a themepark. I was rushing content when I first tried the game, but halfway into it, just had to force myself to slow down the pace and actualy watch all the cutscenes, read the dialogues, cause they we're great. A GOOD japanese manga level of storytelling.

The visuals are dated to the point of being basicaly the same as Aion's right now with the HD engine. They're still great to look at and feel the same level as all the AAA MMOs of the past 2 years. A bit less than maxed out GW2. But on the aestetic side, they're wonderful. NC soft has always had talented artists in their studios.

The PvE is also extremely engaging, late game encounters are actualy very tough and raid level content can be extremely difficult. It plays out sort of like a mix between Tera and GW2, a lot of movement and no healers.

The greatest selling point of B&S is the PvP. If you are interested in extremely competitive, high skill ceilling pvp with a wuxia feel to it, with focus on both structured and open world pvp - you MUST try this game. The skill system is insane and the way you can customize the skills to create very specific builds to outplay opponents is insane.

Here's an example of high lvl pvp and how it feels :

Both players enter the arena, quickly check each others hp to determine what gear they are focused on.

Fight starts, both players try to spend the first seconds reading every skill use of the opponent to figure out exactly where all the skill points are set. Every skill in the game has 4-20s customizable perks to add. To be good at pvp you need to know all the iconic ones for each class to know what they can counter with each skill or how much potential for cc they have.

Upon the first CC land, the first mindgames start. Every class has multiple CC break abilities that work vs different types of cc and can be perked to work vs any type you want. Can make some apply cc upon break, some give shields, some apply CC back. Players need to be wary of this and "bait" out all the cc breaks to actualy go in for a full combo. No class has a combo to 100-0 an opponent at equal gear. One does, but it's nerfed and leaves the class super vulnerable due to the skill perks.

The depth of the combat is just mindboggling and far above what I've seen in previous games recently. It's not the amount of them, not how cool they look. It's the fact that they make it possible to outplay the opponent really hard, creatring an extremely mindgame focused combat system.

Really hope it catches on in the west and we'll have a nice population to pvp with ^^

I'm the hardcore player, the one that rushes lvl cap before you even finish the starting area.

This game is TOO late. Unless they rework this game to operate as an open world PVP sandpark like Archeage (minus the various crap decision Trion has made) this game will be another FLOP that has to be carried by GW2 financial success.

I'm pretty sure everybody can expect:

    • Bad/unfinished translations
    • Being WAY behind the Korean release
    • NO support from original developers
    • Incompetence and ineptitude from Team Bloodlust
    • Cash grabbery
    • Layered P2W model
NCSoft and Team Bloodlust can piss off.

Korean developers don't support games?  Have you seen the ridiculous amount of updates Aion and L2 get?

Where do people get the idea gw2 is financially carrying anything?  It was likely Korean L1 players that paid for the development of both gw2 and Wildstar, and Wildstar not any of NCsoft's Asian titles is by far their biggest flop in the West.

You're also forgetting that almost all they really need to do to "Westernize" games is hire a handful of translators and some customer service people.  Western B&S only needs to take in a small fraction of what gw2 makes in the West to get to the same profit margin.

Given how hard Archage tanked in both Korea and America it would indicate there is far deeper problems than anything Trion did.  I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the idea that anyone would consider Archage a model to copy to achieve wild success.

Three years is a long time to wait?  I had to wait five years for Uncharted Waters Online to get translated into English.  But it ended up being worth the wait.

Will try it for sure, been waiting for years!

I will never get the allure of this type of game, strangely shaped people with goofy hair and exaggerated movements. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

Eddie Murphy came to America as well,it did pretty good also :P

Personally the pvp looks real bad, like somebody gonna get a hurt real bad kinda bad.It looks like a non colorful version of Mortal Kombat. All i saw was global fog lighting,i hate that look in games,it really looks cheap.

The Asian grunts, wonder if we hear that in the NA release or they will have English grunts lol...Hyaa !!.

I know someone said they like the outfits, that is a good way to put it,definitely not gear more like costumes but outfits is a good terminology. To me it looks bad, your not going out to fight baddies in that type of costumes. They look like they belong in Bollywood more than fighting creatures.

Anyhow, this might have an esport following in Korea, doesn't mean a thing to me,hardly a single Esport game i like, they always look cheap from SC to other Moba's.

I guess one could just ignore the lame looking Mortal Kombat  type game play and focus only on PVE,but does the game really offer anything creative or new to PVE gaming?Imo it does not,but i am sure some would argue.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I just watched about 5 mins of combat on youtube.  Is this for real?   It seemed like a parody of the already terrible Korean action combat style.  But sadly it appears it is actually for real.

Just another asian grinder with little to separate it from all the other games.  Not a bad game, but certainly not great either.  Anyone saying this is a great game has completely ignored all the many good games currently available.

Been watching so much anime of late .I tend to binge on them. Am starting Chihayafuru now. Just finished tonari no kaibutsu-kun. I love anime and I read some Manwha (Korean Manga) too and I love this art style and will definitely be checking out this game.

After three YEARS of live, they need a closed/open beta sequence in the west?? From the looks of it, it might have been a hit three years ago.  But now, its just another Asian import thats late to the party.  From the sounds of it, its going to be 2016 before it even launches in the US/EU.

The game took too long to release in the west.  Anyone who had any interest in this game have already moved on.  It's been in development for around 5 years now, and it released in the east in 2012.  The gameplay and graphics already look outdated.  Just look at their character customization and looks very similar to Tera and Aion.  They should have never released WS and went with BnS instead.

That's not entirely true. You can already see many of this forum eager to play it. The two guys I know from my first lineage 2 clan are interested in playing it. Not saying everyone, but there are clearly people who want to play it.

I don't see how the game play or the graphics look outdated. First off, they are very stylized. It's not like you are looking at this:

You are looking at this (for better or worse one's mileage may vary)

Tera and Aion have entirely different character customization. Not sure what's bad about either of them though one can make extreme characters in Aion (not tera).

They should just do us all a favor and spare us from another generic p2w title that looks like it belongs in the last decade.

  • mmrvmmrv Member RarePosts: 305

I suggest all ignore this product, another slap in the face by the eastern game companies, sending over yet another title 4 years after release which means it will be dated in every way shape or form.

One day they might actually local for our areas  near their release date, until then suck a dick.

Pantheon first. Then maybe we can all move forward. Makes me kind of wonder though. Do you dislike B&S because A) It will be played and enjoyed by more people then Pantheon, B) It will be more profitable then Pantheon, or C) You're just full of hate? I hope it's not C. You know what that say about hatred. Holding onto hatred is like drinking poison, and hoping the other person dies.
