When I look at the live stats on the CIG homepage it looks like October 2015 could become an "All-Star" month when it comes to crowdfunding:

If I add up week 40+41+42 I already have around 4 M$ish ... and the month has still quite a few days left.

Best "recent month" was April with 3.322.690 $

For those interested in more detailed data, I recommend "SC Pledgewatch"

A VERY in depth analysis of the SC crowdfunding campaign.

    Have fun

The more I see this the more I have to wonder if Chris and Derek aren't running a brilliant double mind jedi trick on everyone to make this game more money.

I mean look at it this way, the more the dirt flies the more the true supporters of the game, the guys and gals who put their money where their mouth is, double down and keep the cash flowing. And the rest of us get to feel good by having one big entertaining dust up in the media circus that follows. I'd be willing to bet that during this past couple of months the name of Star Citizen has been learned by more people who had never heard of the game before than at any time in its history.

    "Dirty little secrets
    Dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody's pie
We love to cut you down to size
    We love dirty laundry

    We can do "The Innuendo"
    We can dance and sing
When it's said and done we haven't told you a thing
We all know that Crap is King
    Give us dirty laundry!"

Ok, just wait a second. I think there's already been enough conspiracy theories surrounding the game....... Wait, nope! Just checked, we don't place a limit conspiracy theories....like ever, so toss out whatever you got!

Personally, I think that Chris Roberts is working with aliens (not illegal ones, but interstellar ones) because DS has said it's impossible to do, so they must be working with someone who can defy all known knowledge (since DS knows all).

The best thing to ever happen to the funding of this game are the haters. CIG needs to rent a few bulldozers to move the money piles around.

I am sure the backers deeply appreciate your tireless efforts in the fundraising campaign.

I am loving the level of support the community is giving for a game which is some time from release.

A million what? Hits on the website? Registered users that cant play? Cmon lets talk numbers when/if the game ever even launches.
  • BrenicsBrenics Member RarePosts: 1,939
They have a million registered not all put money into the game, you can go register right now and not spend a penny, so the whole million is not a big deal. Lot just went to try out the demo. I thought about it but decided to wait till 2016 for the final release. If it releases.

If this game releases with a reasonable approximation of its stated goals then I will play it. I could go and sign up for free now, but I am quite happy to wait until it releases. I am certainly not willing to put any money down on a hypothetical game, neither am I going to blindly believe that it will achieve a reasonable approximation of its stated goals until I see the finished product; that is not being a hater, that is being pragmatic.

This is really the thing. Everyone right now is squabbling over whether or not this game will actually ever be finished. But let's assume it will be. Then we still have to worry about how it stacks up against the hype that has been built up over it. And I think we have all seen where hype trains can end. I mean...it really is a big dream. I hope the developers can code that dream as it was originally envisioned. It's just that is exactly where so many others have fallen short in the past.
  • mark2123mark2123 Member UncommonPosts: 450
Ususally the most hyped games are the most disappointing.  What I mean by that is disappointing in relative terms to the hype.  I suspect that Star Citizen will be the game that many were looking forward to and like all most other MMOs right now, will be missing the X factor to make it anything other than something you give a go and move on quickly.  I hope I'm wrong but it seems the ever growing shopping list is aimed to make it all things to all people, and that never works.
  • ErillionErillion Member EpicPosts: 10,328
Its a given fact that no game can be 100 % satisfactory to 100 % of a million people when their wants and needs are often mutually exclusive.

So ... some will bitch and moan, even if the game is a new milestone of computer gaming  ....

Well no amount of SC fanatics' salty will change the inevitable, so go feel free to report my posts over and over again, havefun (and that bunch of off-the-deep-end zealots). My posts mean little in the long run, as the game would speak (or mumble and croak) for itself in due time.

Just a matter of time to see how this SC debacle pans out. No matter what though, Im either gonna enjoy the released game or (hoping for this though honestly) enjoy the cosmic train wreck which this Chirst Robers Scheme becomes.

Still having and going to have so much fun though :)
You know this is the most honest and reasonable post about the game to date, well done!

I see this got a LOL, so am I safe to assume this is sarcasm? Just checking.
Sometimes the truth, even a perceived truth, can be funny, wit and sarcasm are not necessarily incompatable either B)

Well, that was expected I guess. The month of CitizenCon last year yeilded similar results. Given the fact that substantial progress was demonstrated this year, anything less would be a disapointment.

If they do an anniversay sale this year as well November should be even higher. ($6m+ last year.)

Pre Alpha or Tech Demo, don't they mean much the same thing really?
Afaik there are still considerable bits missing, but if they ever make it to a complete working Alpha, or even, Beta, perhaps then the 'milestone' claims will be justified.

Parts of a game with varying degree's of functionality, easily fall into the category of 'tech demo' imo.

The only milestone they should be looking at is releasing the game... the rest is just marketing BS.

Let us remember .... (self proclaimed ;-) "experts in the field" told us this "cannot be made".

Well... obviously it can be made as Manchester has shown ... so the label "milestone of the genre" may well be justified when the game launches.

What exactly can be made? There's a lot of promises and it's becoming pretty obvious they won't be able to deliver on every single one. So we'll have to wait and see what will be the state of the game that's released.

That was a great read and thank you for posting it.

I remember back when someone asked:  who would want a computer in their home?  I remember when a gig of ram was not even an option by a quarter of that.  What's my point?  Someone had to develop these things, someone made them and improved them even when people said ti was impossible.

Someone has to push the envelope, why not CIG?  Who is saying they can't come up with new ways to defeat the issues they face?  They certainly have the budget and experience to do so, as much as anyone else.

I just feel like every time these "knowledgeable" people chime in it sounds like: If I can't do it, no one can.  And I just do not buy that any more.

If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

Took ages to read through that article, but, it was very informative, it will be interesting to see how accurate he is about how CIG may have handled various aspects of the game, particularly where the planetary landings are concerned, and also how seperate Sqn 42 and the PU eventually turn out to be, personally i see them as very different games, one which i am interested in, and the other which i am not, again, there is the MMO factor, which CIG hasn't alluded to, so the question even for the PU is, how many players? too few may render the question meaningless, not that i would expect them to compete with Eve Online that can handle 1000's of players in a single area at the same time, interacting with each other etc. But i would hope that it would at least be on the Planetside2 scale, where 100's of players can interact in the same area. But, great article, not often get that kind of insight into game design, so very informative.
