Well i honest dont know if the can pull it off to be honest question i wonder what time period in Star Wars the go to make the game in for i guess if do somewhere between Star Wars 1 - 7 and dont get it right many fans that have grow up with Star Wars well get piss off.

When someone say open world to me when come to Star Wars in my mind it goes to "ok we are just go to be one planet" and that wont work at all and if it was any other company then EA i guess the would pull it off but i guess time will tell.

Won't touch another EA game if I can help it.

Eh, it'll just be another pay2win grindfest.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

Any kind of movie license historically has a low probability of a quality game.
Tons of Star Wars hype right now, increased probability of someone trying to cash in on the hype.
EA... Do I really have to say anything more about this disgrace?

Hope for the best, but hold onto your cards and prepare for the worst.

Lost my mind, now trying to lose yours...

Oh and by the sounds of it. its an EA title, so therefore i wont be interested.

EA is all about money grabbing and less on game quality and quantity.
Look at battlefront. its a battlefield reskin, only it has far less depth than what battlefield has. no classes, no dynamic fighting, and limited time in vehicles. uh uh... DLC anyone for the best lightsaber? or DLC to enter another part of the galaxy anyone?
    No thanks...
Battlefront is not a Battlefield re-skin.  Battlefront sucks especially on PC.  The hit detection is horrible, vehicles are sparse, 0 classes, not much weapon difference, and the large scale battles are meh at best.  Battlefield is by far a better game.  I am a big star wars fan and EA really screwed this one up.
Exactly. A battlefield reskin with no depth. ie no classes, no weapon difference, and vehicles are time limited, and its pretty crap how you find a powerup which majically takes you into a vehicle. CMON. wheres the old fashion finding one and getting in it, and trying to survive for as long as possible.

the reason its a battlefield reskin is that you still have the rush and other modes, and the game plays exactly the same. just everything is updated graphically, and doesnt have what battlefield had. it wasl ike dice, said. right lets do another reskin. but then fell short of money so they decided to no classes, no weapon difference etc etc.

And did anyone notice how MEH the film is. did no-one see how similar the this film is to the previous ones. infact, i could have edited all the previous films and slotted episode 7 together, with a few new characters. Pretty down beat about that. nothing new and fresh. New hope reskin. lol.
AND im a serious starwars fan. :/

Anyway. ya starwars MMORPG. great, but PLEASE dont make a "oh another MMORPG" moment. ie the same old lump of grind and nothing fresh type stuff.

They turned Dead Space from an atmospheric action / survival horror hybrid into a pure action game with microtransactions. Granted a good chunk of the blame falls on EA for that as well, but Dead Space was Visceral's creation.

On top of that, they used the relatively poor sales of Dead Space 3 to justify essentially ending the franchise, claiming not enough people seemed to care about it. Nevermind the fact that it's because they retooled it into an action game that nobody wanted it...

In other words, I have no faith this game will be any good. For God's sake, they're already fucking up the release schedule for KotFE, then attempting to keep people subbed by dangling a 'free' character in front of their noses if they stay subbed. And don't even get me started on how fucking pathetic the whole 'bonus chapter' thing is. They know damn well they won't be able to keep to the schedule they initially presented, but to keep income up they're going to punish people who call shenanigans and skip a month or two by denying them content.

God damn it. Why did EA get the Star Wars games? What a joke. Fuck you, EA.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

In a recent interview with Game Informer, Raymond explained that Motive actually owns quite a bit of the Star Wars game.

When asked about the work split between Visceral and Motive on the upcoming game, Raymond mentioned that Motive has “creative ownership” of around 50 percent of the game.

I like that you guys are taking the "let's be negative about it before we know anything about the game and hope to be surprised approach". I'll do the other one, and hopefully we'll meet in the middle.
What else would you expect? But agreed, no reason other than a negative outlook on all things to be negative at this point. The good part is such negativity only hurts those who embrace it.

    Oh, be still my knees!

I would absolutely looove a star wars game that plays like AC/Batman/Shadows of Morder/Mad Max.  It's easily my favorite combat system of the single player genre currently and, if done just right, it could make for some really amazing and good looking lightsaber duels with force powers thrown in.

This is some of the best news ever.

I'm hoping that it has a story as good as Witcher 3 with the combat system of Shadows of Mordor.

    Fingers crossed; hype level 11.

Oh look, copy paste MMO ... their announcement honestly made me think "meh". The Star Wars IP is so strong, yet the best people to make this game are not associated with EA. Such a shame. Don't get me wrong it should be a good game ... but it won't have the longevity of say EVE Online, the ambition of Star Citizen, or the creativity of No Mans Sky, etc.

I hope it is a good one, we could use a good Star Wars game other than a shooter, but I will reserve my final decision until the product, one thing I have learned in all my years of gaming, is don't give into the hype.

Not if it's EA. I'm wondering if this is sociological experiment to determine how many of us on mmorpg.com don't learn.

oh this is going to go badly

Witcher 3 was open world and had an awesome story

and if it was the developers of Witcher 3 making it, i'd be really hyped .. as it is.. i am half expecting a Star Wars game that will release in 6 months on itunes.

no one says its going to be a mmo just an open world so it might be a xbox or ps4 game and a single player for all we know everyone's jumping to conclusions and its not even made yet just hold on and see first what they come out with then deside if its good or not i my self would give it a try and by the way i happen to like the mmo SWTOR

If it's offered for PC, yeah. If not NO. Homey has enough with kb and mouse. Don't do controller.

I just want a good Star Wars game that's set in the Skywalker era that can go along with the new films being created.
  • ZzadZzad Member UncommonPosts: 1,401
    It´s by EA...so no trust...no hype.
  • SamhaelSamhael Member RarePosts: 1,534
I don't think EA is capable of making a good Star Wars game anymore so I would probably have to pass. I'd love a good Star Wars MMO but this is just the RPG part.

    Please be awesome.

Would love an open world RPG set in Star Wars, was talking about this last night to a mate after we had seen the new film.

An open world where you get to explore a part of the galaxy as well in your own way land on planets to take side missions.

I play a lot of Elite Dangerous now if they did a game like that but in Star Wars that would be brilliant.

I almost got hype, then too realized the MMO missing in front of the RPG. Never got to participate in SWG thought this was the closest shot I was gonna get =(

This was me as well but maybe there will be coop or limited server action. Sounds great and I hope it does great but not much into single player games.

Even in a true sandbox a writer for me would make a lot of sense and openworld, sandbox games should have that.

In a true open world that allows you to do whatever you want and "level up" your character in any way you wish to do so it would still be awesome to have villages with npc's each having a interesting story every town would bring a different story since it has a different population for example.  currently sanbox/open world mmos basically are empty worlds and thats why they dont succeed.

If this is a single player game then 100% definitely not.
If it is a fake MMO just a single player game with a login screen, then again not touching it.

If they can bring the world to life less content but of higher quality, then i am in for sure.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
