Let me flip the script and pose it to you from a different perspecrive...

Is this really the type of game, and by extension the type of game sportsmanship behavior, that you would like your children to be exposed to while growing up?

Think about that for awhile before getting back to us.  Bear in mind, no response in defense of it will be good enough.

This is where the whole argument about personal everyday values come into play in video games. People get outright offended by the fact that you accuse them of being real life dbags and sociopaths and question their personal values based on how they act out in a video game. But to be honest; the internet does not create d-bags and sociopaths; those people are behind closed doors fundamentally already flawed. Huge difference between being just an all in good fun trash talker and an asshole.

Not sure if anyone has seen this, but listen to this guy's story. Pretty much not all people who enjoy PvP are a-holes or pissy losers, I mean I stopped saying "good game" when I die to another player cause few show real sportsmanship in games these days and you just get toxic spew back. There seems to be a lot in this game though...it's like a breeding ground for it.

I have to say I like a game where I can have it all.  Enjoying leveling and breeding horses, fishing, etc.  Eventually looking forward to PvP but not for a while.

For now it will just be PvE and life skills.  It's okay to have it all.

Yep, agree with you totally.  I'm enthralled with BDO and so much enjoy the life skills---horse breeding which I want to get into, fishing, crafting, connecting my nodes to build my little empire of crafters, etc.   Also love running around the gorgeous world watching the sun set or rise and just enjoy the ambiance.  I haven't logged into my favorite ESO for a week or so because BDO has me hooked.

With that said, at some point I will need to make a decision on the game and whether or not I invest in it long term, either through a bit of money or my time.  I keep seeing statements that it is a PvP game at heart and that I'm playing the wrong game.  A shame really because it has such wonderful PvE elements.  I see the battles rage on and on in the forums from the PvEers like myself with name calling rampant.  And I have to say that the community is pretty vile---both in game and on the forums.    It would be nice to just keep doing my horse breeding or trade running in peace.   If this becomes an impossibility due to being PKed over and over, then I will gracefully bow out and and hope that someday, a non PvP centric sandbox game will arise.  Or at least have consensual PvP.
The vile community you speak of is just the PvPers moaning at us PvE players for enjoying the PvE elements and not wanting PvP. I don't care what the game is meant to be, there's lots of PvE to do.

My children are already grown up and surprisingly well adjusted considering who raised them.  ;)

While I did make sure they never fell in with the wrong crowd while gaming, I have no fear of said communities as they serve as a great platform to educate on things such as right and wrong behavior.

You can't really have a proper virtual world without the contrasts of good and evil, (or the random vs the purpose) which means even bad interaction makes it so much more interesting, at least to me.

I've got a thick skin, tons of patience and perseverance, and am able to carve out my own little world of good in a terribly dark universe.

But not everyone is cut from the same jib are they? As we say in EVE, you learn to HTFU, and for that I make no apologies. (nor give any quarter)  B)

Well yeah, since there is no point to PvP ATM with all the hacks.

I saw two cheaters fighting today, both couldn't even kill each other because of immortality hack. It was pathetic. I just downloaded FRAPS so that I can record this bs when I see it again. Going to youtube it and ask Da$m to explain why they charged me money for a so called competitive PvP game that does nothing to prevent hacking.
