really good game for retired people and cat lovers that have nothing better to spend their disability money on.

The game's in its final stages of desperation now. A free trial before it even officially launches. Of course the reality is, it "launched" when it went persistent in the middle of last year. Since then, tons of people have used exploits to level up their characters and crafting in ways that people can't dream of approaching since the exploits have been fixed. But that's not the real issue. The real issue is the game is basically one huge cash shop grab. Game play is awful. Quests are awful (not to mention broken). But the one thing you CAN rely on, is that there's always new crappy stuff to buy in the cash shop. And... oh! I almost forgot. Stuff they sell you in that cash shop, for stupid prices, are assets they have got for free, or almost free, from the Unity store. Avoid, avoid, avoid. This is a hell of an awful game. I wouldn't play it any more if they were paying me instead.

Garriot should pay us for playing this game.

Come on guys, give it a try and see how bad it really is!  You won't believe it.
  • RawynRawyn Member UncommonPosts: 202
Hah, love it.. they think people will buy their crappy overpriced unity asset bought junk in their store on free trial. If they weren't so shady and greedy that would be disabled during a free trial anyways. This studio has no shame lol.

    It still isn't worth it.

Play for free all you want, but the game is turning out to be just like EVERY freemium game out there. They have even turned around and stated they are not even going to deliver some of the things that where included in pledges, already paid for. But they add over 10k worth of stuff each month in their store. So be very VERY weary of supporting them. I would wait until after the actually finish their development, they are very good at using the excuse that the game is still under development so enjoy the trial but be informed and give minimally

Thanks for the honesty Weins, I know you've supported this game for years. People need this info before they even think about giving a dime to these snake oil salesmen.

The quests are incomplete, the single player mode is pretty much non existent. If you are interested I suggest waiting for the "real" launch. It is in persistence but it is not a complete game.

This game is total shit. Do not let the white nights influence you as they probably have thousands of dollars invested in this tragic pay 2 win game. Do not fall for it as it will nickle and dime you from the cash shop. The quests are incomplete, the single player mode is pretty much non existent. If you are interested I suggest waiting for the "real" launch. It is in persistence but it is not a complete game. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!

Yup total garbage excuse for an 11 million dollar game. If they'd listened to backers like you years ago that were giving constructive feedback instead of just the whales that like to hang out at their office and kiss their ass they might have been able to avoid being a total failure. I'm sitting back and enjoying people tear into this game on many forums today. I'm sure Chris and Starr will defend this piece of crap til it shuts down though. Chris especially can't handle anything said about his crappy combat system.

Thought I would try this so I downloaded it. Created a character and the game loaded and then I had full screen graphic corruption in black and white and if I moved I had tracers, could see the UI perfectly but anything in the game window was corrupt. Asked in chat got no answer went to the forums and couldn't post until I spent money !!! uninstalled goodbye. There's other players having the same problem from other forums. Way to go with the trial of your game !!!

    i5
RX480 8gb (up to date drivers)
    16gb ram
    Win 10

They've got no global chat because the whales wanted to feel special because they get a special chat called 'nobles chat' from their $1600 + pledges. They don't want to have to listen to what they consider peasants that couldn't afford $1600 bucks.

The reason you can't even post on their forums with a free trial is first their greedy and want to make you pay 5 buck to milk what they can from free players....second they won't allow the negativity they'd surely get from the majority of people that try it. These devs are so thinned skin and egotistical they can't handle the truth and they're delusional and think their game is good because the whales and their egos tell them so lol..

I think this falls under any advertisement is good advertisement. I am pretty sure multiple people bought this game today even with a free preview. Because they can't believe anything could be as shitty as what you people are typing. I backed the game and no I do not play it regularly, but it is no where as shitty as the picture some of you are painting here. I mean if I was an outsider I would think if I installed this game and launched it I would die. Just simply because I launched it.

What an irrelevant comment! You obviously have no idea the demographic playing this game. I guarantee you that the people playing this game are 40+-year-old men that were a fan of Ultima. Why would being disabled, retired, or having a cat attract someone to play this game? Your comment made absolutely no sense; I guess trolls will be trolls. You'd think you would make better use of one of your three comments thus far.

How did he manage to fail even worse than he did with Tabula Rasa? I can't wait to hear his excuses this time around. I hope his next space flight is a one way trip and he goes to colonize Mars or something because this game making thing just ain't workin out for him like it did in the 90's.

Sure he would have gotten away with it if it weren't for those meddling kids on reddit. Look at the way they try and spin anyone who disagrees with what they have to say. His recent interviews about his book prove that.

I didn't really like the Ultima games prior to U7 and I did not like U7.  I did not care for UO either.  I do not like Richard Garriot.  But, this game is okay.  It is nothing to write home about, but if you are looking for a decent waste of time it has a meatier rpg system than most modern mmorpgs.

I should also state I try most games and I do not care much about graphics.  I also do not spend more than 2 or 3 weeks playing a game I like more than average.  This game gave me about a week or so of evenings hiding from reality.  If you are the type of person who plays the same game for years I do not understand you and cannot recommend literally anything to you as our minds do not jive.

Funny you bring that game up.  Why the other day I was just thinking about how I haven't seen anyone here ever say "Ya know I really miss Tabula Rasa" lol.

I bought the game for $19.99 during the winter sale and think it was worth it for that price but unless I spend hundreds of dollars more will never be able to own property which is a huge part of the game.

The plots being sold all over the world spreads out the community too much and makes it feel like a dead game because you never see anyone. If they made it so everyone who purchased land were all together like Bourbon Street or NYC it might have been a better move to bring more life to the land but it's too late for that now.

Actually Bruce, while the "being spread out" theory sounds like it could be right, the reality is that the game feels dead because very few people are actually playing it. Check out its Steam stats. The game feels dead because it IS dead. Hence the free trial before it even launches. EDIT: And if you don't know where those stats are, see: http://steamcharts.com/app/326160

Game is moving more into a risk vs reward sandbox.
Still lot of sand missing especially for guilds.

Nice to hear from Weins ;) He got salty that he got served by Vallo Frostbane and rage quitted.

PKing is happening finally since R38 or so and killing players is more efficient than farming money wise.

Crafting has improved, so GMs are worth it now...

With introduction of the evil side soon, and hopefully implementation of Virtue vs Anti Virtue sides conflicts hopefully make the world itself more player driven.

I can understand a lot of the hate - but some of you sound like salty kids that realize now its to late to come back (which it never is, levelling is very new player friendly through master system) and bash the game into oblivion without any facts.
I supported your cause when Port treated a lot of you unfair... and probably still does, but at some point you have to acknowledge the game changed a lot from back when the outbreak of rage started. It still not where I want it to be, but its getting there.

Hope you find a game, you enjoy.

It's comments like that which piss people off the most I think. When was the Kickstarter for this? Four years ago? And people are still making excuses for it like we're only a year in, or similar, and there's heaps of development to come. FACE THE FACTS. After four years, we have an awful combat system, quests are STILL broken to hell, people can play dress ups and party in their (doll) houses which they've paid STUPID amounts of money for and... yeah. That's about it. The game is a SOLID GOLD TURKEY. People who talk it up in order to attract newbies are doing them a major disservice and all in a selfish bid to drag people onto a sinking ship. Luckily if anything good can come of this free trial, it's that newbies will be able to see how awful the game is without having to buy it like the rest of us poor suckers. That's about the most charitable thing I can say about today's news.
