The best part is that they're still advertising it as a canvas bag. So, maybe the world *did* run out of canvas material and they had to use nylon instead, but they're still advertising it as ... canvas? That's shady.
The bag was too expensive to make? LOL, yet all this negative publicity lately isn't costing you anything Bathesda? Wow, just wow - woosh - talk about brain dead practices.
Seems like this would be grounds for a full refund, if you returned everything?
Nope
That return policy does not matter since Bethesda has broken their agreement with you.
If you're not happy with nylon bag you can demand that Bethesda either
a) Fulfills their agreement by providing a canvas bag, or a similar bag that is at least as valuable or more valuable than a canvas bag would be, or
b) Gives you a full refund, or
c) Gives you partial refund for the price of the canvas bag
Bethesda as the seller gets to choose which option they want. Bethesda as the seller can also try to replace canvas bag with something else, like nylon bag, but you're not obliged to accept a replacement that is not similar item and at least same value as the item that wasn't delivered.
Wow, how the mighty have fallen. Bethesda was definitely one of the few gaming companies that, at least for me, automatically got my trust just by their word & I expected excellence because I thought they expected it too. No longer & that is a shame. I'm not sure what is worse? Bethesda's inferior product or now their following inferior customer service towards their players. Anyone reading about, most, customer reviews wouldn't touch this game at the moment. I feel bad for these "Power Armor Edition" buyers. Usually it is expected to pay a premium, for special editions, that shows your enthusiasm for a game/company & in return you receive something unique & of quality in return as appreciation. What happened here, I'm sure if truth be told, was some bigwig at Bethesda ended-up saying similar to, "We're giving them a really cool helmet, that's enough, if something else has to be lessened so be it, tough sh...".
lol this is just sad nothing. Out of no where too. I mean they havent really made an epic hit since FO4 (id say Skyrim) but aside from a few shady decisions with ESO they never hinted at becoming such a shit company all of a sudden.
County Farm Insurance sponsors the farmers market at Daley Center in Chicago and give out canvas shopping bags FOR FREE (well you have to fill out a form sometimes). They're good bags and I've been using them for years while the nylon bags fall apart after just a few months. If a small insurance company can give out free canvas bags then a game company that sells millions of copies can honor their contact and include the promised canvas bag in a $200 bundle.
There's no real excuse for the nylon bags except greed. I bet most players would've been much happier with a "hey, the bag is being delayed because of manufacturer issues, but we will be sending it separately ASAP."
Because that's how you make the best of this situation as Bethesda if you truly are having a manufacturer issue and not just trying to be cheap.
It's not like this is a first for them. How about those special edition Pip Boys they sent out. My coworker told me it was a cheap piece of junk that didn't even fit his phone.
Then there is the "cardboard disc" debacle which didn't see much outrage, but is still ridiculous. Our own member Slapshot got shafted with this. They sent the cardboard disc early and then followed up with a Steelseries case to protect it.
Look at the numbers they made from Fallout 4, or how many copies Skyrim has sold. There isn't an excuse for the shifty scam they're trying to pull. They can afford to do better. They are greedy.
Or the time they advertised Skyrim special editions as having a cloth map but included a normal paper map if you didn't pre order it (and the ones you did pre order, you got paper that had a different texture). Or the same thing with Oblivion. The way they got out of those though was they never said it was cloth, they said it was similar to burlap.
They are obviously trying to save money, and they knew exactly what they were doing. In the long run they damaged their reputation. Just a very bad move. Somebody in charge made a bad call. This is what happens when you put people with bad management skills in charge. A good manager or supervisor would of never sent such a cheap bag out. No excuse for this, and I would either refund their money, or send a canvas bag out with something very special inside.

I was looking for this. I couldn't imagine consumer rights in other countries are actually THAT bad, that Bethesda could just sit back and tell people to piss off if they don't like the nylon bag. Even though I still think everyone duped should just be able to get a full refund.
How does one not start to think that Bethesda, among so many others, has nothing but utter contempt for it's own customer base; A resource to be exploited while giving nothing in return?
Sorry Bethesda, modders can't fix this one for you. Maybe they're try to have another creator program that allows the community to make their collector edition items for them and give those people a 10% cut.

Wait until they can (Modders fix Bethesda's game), then you will get double dipped.
Bethesda will release their half-asses, bug infested, broken excuse for a game. Then the community will come along and fix the game which Bethesda will happily put the fix in their Creation Club where you can buy the Actual working game for another fee. So not only will you be required to pay the AAA boxed price, you will also have to pay again to have a game that's actually playable.

Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

Just embarrassing.
Is Hines hiding under a rock or something?
I thought his job was PR and Marketing.
