When this thread started, I went over there just looking around. Yes, they are being deleted right and left which is about par for the course, but what struck me while I was browsing was the sense of defeat I felt from all the posters. Even the NGE fanbois just seem to have thrown in the towel. The NGE may have accomplished some thing that no other iteration of the game was able to, uniting the playerbase. Admittedly, I doubt $OE wanted to have them united in hating the game but well, it is what it is.
There was a different feeling over there today, no arguing back and forth in hate filled diatribes. Just a general sense of resigned disgust. As well as sense of abadonment from the devs (again), and speculation that another big change was around the corner.

hmm. another post was made, and instead of being locked. It was moved to the GAT forum on the official boards. If it was untrue they would have deleted it instantly. If it true, then why wasnt it deleted.
You all remember the post from the guy who's uncle knew about the NGE? That one stayed in the Jedi forum for a long time. Perhaps they know that we wil just keep reposting it. Moving it they can keep it controlled without confirming or denying anything.

Originally posted by Mccoys First of all, let me introduce myself. I was employed for the last 4 years by Sony Onlline Entertainment (SOE) and Lucasarts Entertainment Company (LEC) as a body coder for the MMO commonly known as StarWars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. I will not give out my personal details due to recursive legal action that the above two corporations may take against me for writhing this post to you today. ( hence the false email i am using and name to make this thread) Recently, Major changes have been made within this MMO that have sparked outrage and mass cancellations. However i bring news to you of some facts. First of all, there have been rumors abound about the current subscriber base in the game. Upon myself leaving the company 1 week ago, the current subscriber base with active accounts was slightly over 175,000 subscribers. 32,000 of them being trial accounts.
Now comes the part that may or may not have legal issues for me. There have been massive calls for a reversion of the current system to be changed to the original base system that was at launch. SOE have acknowledged this and explained the situation to LEC and projected the estimated subscriber base and revenue that would be generated if this did indeed happen. However, LEC have basically ignored this request from SOE and informed them, that as their joint license and contract states, the game known as StarWars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, must be produced and developed according to the wishes of the license granter (LEC) Recently though, there have been further developments on this front, and SOE have made some ground on attempting to produce a original system that includes all the current mini-publishes and major publishes. For evidence of this, you can refer to the lead developers publish plan. This is to last 6 months approx. The reason that there is no publish plan further ahead of this ( unlike during the previous combat systems) is that IF the current system on the live servers is not to the playerbases liking, a original base system will be made live. Evidence of this can be found by the upcoming house and structures purge on the servers. this is to make way for condensed server merges, with the remainder being "cleaned" and prepared for the new system. Take the above information as you will.
Now on to a well known Emulator site regarding the above game. Many of you have posted and replied to that site. SOE and LEC indeed know about this site, and are actively monitoring it. I have read the updates section and i feel i must say something. The main updates that the administrators have given to you are false. Here are my reasons for you to browse. The most recent updates that have been made available there are incorrect. The loading screen you see can easily be made and changed by anyone who has access to the .tre file that was included in the Jump to Lightspeed (JTL) major publish. All it is is a simple background that you can extract from the .tre file using a program known as insideSWG or SWGExplorer. You can then import it into a image editing program, edit it how you like, then recompile it back into the.tre file. Evidence of this is a lack of a full video going from login screen to main game on the Emulator site. All you see is a screenshot. With reference to the "ingame zone" screenshots. these are again false. There is indeed a mod that replicates all aspects of the games original system User Interface. However if you look closely you will notice that there are no active "HAM" bars. this is because the code which we inserted into the core of the game is made to do this, thus making the mod useless and basically unuseable. You may also notice the small unobtainable experience information module in one of the screenshots This is a well known bug that occurs with an original system User interface Mod. This occurs because the mod links to coding within the client that has been commented out. therefore it was not able to be changed.
Well, take the above post however you see fit. My only purpose today was to update you on the game and future developments that SOE and LEC are desperate to keep hidden. Some of you may think that this post was made by a teenager with not much else to do. However i assure you in all honesty, that i was empoyed as stated above.
My reaction: I don't know if you're telling the truth. I thought for a while, "why would someone post this, with nothing to gain (other than to maybe see our reactions)? I have come to the conclusion that I don't know. I choose to believe you, however, because even a hope as forlorn as this one is better than thinking about SWG as it is now, and as it was in th golden days.

A funny thing has happened.
With NGE, a lot of dead weight has fallen off SWG. And now, it's running faster. Servers are running faster. So fast in fact, they are aproaching speed of light.
This has led to some unexpected consequences, namely time warp. And anyone in SOE is affected, so acording to their clocks, they are only 3-4 months into NGE, while the rest of the world has moved 7 months ahead.
While it was an interesting post, If it really was a designer who left and they actually said WHEN they left and then thought a fake name will protect him.. well it explains the state of the game's code today.
Waiting to see what happens though... it's never boring when you talk SWG.

Clearly with the sub rate collapsing, and a combat downgrade that has the servers emptying again, ALL options need to be on the table unless they want to give up and pull the plug.
Those options are:
1. Rollback (reversion to pre-NGE) 2. Classic Servers (Pre-CU) in addition to NGE 3. Redo it again, probably combining pre-CU and CU elements, taking it back to basically what it was.
I think we need to be careful with the term rollback. An actual rollback would mean rolling back all the data back to a specific date. There would be so many problems with that it wouldn't even be funny. I don't see actually rolling back as a viable option. Now, opening fresh classic servers is an option. Another possibility would be to designate a few servers to be converted to fresh Pre-CU servers. This would require time for any existing players to get a free transfer to a NGE server that won't convert. I think we need to be careful to not use the term "rollback" as that has specific connotations that aren't viable. Consolidating NGE servers and wiping others to start them as fresh Pre-CU servers is possible. Opening new fresh Pre-CU servers is an option.

The NGE was released 7months ago, so I suppose 6months from now or close to now. I recommend rollbacks. The current players don't seem to mind major game changes, they just keep playing, so let them just keep playing and lose all their stuff, it is their turn.

Yes, it could be possible to do a rollback. They would have to do it in such a way that any toons created after the rollback date keep the toon created, but with no items or skills. If they could at least keep the toons intact so that everyone still has the name of their toons, then it might work. However, this would require them to actually do some work. Not just work, quality work to make sure it works right. That's a major reason I don't see it as viable. It would be too much work for them. Opening up fresh classic servers would be much easier for them by comparison.

I think the way to do it would be announce that servers X, Y, and Z are being wiped and converted to pre-CU servers, that players there may elect to transfer free to servers A, B, and C.
Then run those servers side by side with NGE servers and see where the population goes
