If you look at EA's track record this doesn't look to good.

Yep that's what got me worried when i read it. I've never tried DAoC, but I was interested in WAR.

Wonder if all the SOE haters that jumped ship to WAR from Vanguard will have a problem with this too.

I think EA will make WAR be just another WOW clone to make them money.

It will be deeply amusing to watch the shifting of allegiances amongst all the partisans out there. Let the games begin.

Wasn't there a story a while back where EA and Mythic had been in the talks, but decided not to go further?

I guess WoW wins again. Horray......

For anyone who like DAOC, enjoy it now. EA will ruin it just like they did motor city online, Earth and Beyond, and Ulitma Online.

    http://www.gametab.com/news/602713/

"The addition of Mythic to the EA family reflects our deep commitment to the online gaming market worldwide. Mythic will bring one of the industry's most talented MMORPG teams to EA. Together, we will create games that will introduce MMO players to a whole new level of game play and excitement," said Paul Lee, President, EA Studios.

I'm not a violent person. I'm really not. But that statement makes me want to do nothing more than punch Paul Lee in the face. Oh yeah, it bring one of the most talented teams in the industry to EA. Just like they did with Origin! Oh and westwood, look the level and excitement it brought to EA.

One other thing I thought of... Warhammer Online. It's being developed by Mythic. Anyone who is looking forward to it, forget it. It's done for.

This upsets me greatly. I was rooting for WAR on near-Fanboi-ism. However, I detest most corporations, especially the gaming ones, because they tend to meddle... a lot.

Here's hoping they stay the fx off WAR.

    Terrible news.

Oh boy, I can't wait to play Warhammer Online on their all new "Trammel" server! Oh boy! Oh boy!

Well, I took the nice route, now this is how I really feel.

I detest EA. I hate them above almost all game companies. They have the worst tech support I have experienced to date, will do anything for a quick buck, and just scoop up independant companies and crap them out into husks.

I am on borderline blind rage at this news, because EA = bad. EA = "We're going to take everything you've ever loved and make it disappear. Forever.". This was something I was SERIOUSLY looking forward to. I've been stuck on WoW for ages, and I was hoping this would finally be the game to save me, and now, because of good ol' American capitalism, I'm screwed. Again.

I swear, if this game becomes a devoid husk, like all other EA MMOs, I may get violent. I know it sounds pathetic "lol, he's pissed about a video game", but yes, I am officially pissed off. Nothing good comes out of the cold, emotionless machine that is EA, and I'll be damned if they screw up something I just became attached to.

       /rant off.

Any chance Warhammer had went buh-bye.
  • claytchclaytch Member Posts: 1
Maybe EA will just sitback, sign checks and let Mythic handle Warhammer...

The fate of DAOC however, is most likely already written.

Please tell me this is a joke. This is bad. Very very bad. I haven't bought anything from EA in a long time, that company is bunk.

In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.

I think DAoC will be ok, no one really will want to mess with a middle aged game with solid customer base, but limited appeal to new customers. Now, like others, I have been drooling for WAR (being a total GW fan for decades) and I suspect EA will not be able to help themselves from screwing with it.It'll be like those Orange phone ads we have in UK Cinemas where they interfer with a director's film script in the most insanse way.

Warhammer Online will transform into Twinklehammer Online....
Dark Age of Camelot will transform into Dark Age of Carebears...

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

DAoC may not be badly hurt by this, EA may regard it as too old and minor to futz with (although if they get on a "we need to maximize all our resources" kick, who knows...). But with WAR, they're going to want to have..."input".

Wow that's great news... for Funcom.

Inbloodycredible, this is like the crystalnigth of gaming.

Obviously the people that work for mythic had no shares in their company, or they did and just hate the company and their games so much they went trough with this.

Regardless of what they payed, there are some things you do not even do for money, ( unless you are EA of course ), and selling out to the antichrist of gaming is one of them things.

Let me put it this way, I do not like SoE, but I would rather GIVE them the game then sell it to EA for a hundred billion.

And Tetsul is rigth, any gaming company who knows anything about their history is surely having a party today, a whole bunch of competing titles wiped out in one swift strike.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the hype meter in the next few days.

Who knows maybe EA will stay out of WAR, maybe Mythic got a deal sooooo sweet that they have more control over what they can do than even Blizzard does with their parent company.

And monkeys might fly out of my ass - we will just have to wait and see.

The thing to watch will be how GW reacts and how big the exodus from Mythic is after WAR launches as I would assume many of them are under contract till it goes live.
