Those are just what I saw on the front page of the game play forum. I didn't know posting the views from the other side was flame baiting
There are actually twice as many negative posts in those posts than positive, so you're trying as hard as possible to Bait this crowd to call you out.
Instead of baitting, would you care to comment on the Server Crashes, or the server lockups, or the lag? You claimed these wouldn't be issues...
All I'm trying to show is some examples of people saying they had fun. These are views of the event from other people. I can't say if I had fun or not with the lag because the event hasn't happened on Chilastra yet (not too far away though). If you wanted a one-sided thread you should have made that clear at the start of the thread and I wouldn't have bothered

It's a very fitting end to all the posturing and hype that SOE/LA put forth into this game post NGE as well as for the Restuss event at E3. Much like the saying of "give a person enough rope and they'll hang themselves" SOE/LA has taken that rope and done just that. If they weren't the laughing stock of MMO's before Restuss they've definitely taken the crown now. The unfortunate part is all of those who re-subscribed thinking that it was actually going to work and now that SOE/LA can twist those one month renewals into a "we're growing" statement.
I can not wait to try it out on our server as well, I have heard from some mates that the Restuss event is great, I have also heard from some that it is boring, I am looking forward to giving it a try and see how it goes. As far as lag and crashes are concerned, many predicted that this would or could happen, as far as I was concerned you never know if it will or if it wont happen as a player who has played in many events over the years, lag an crashes are sort of a norm in most cases, so I don’t really see that as an issue that is really any different from any other point in SWG history, I think what is more important to me is the content in the event, what it is about, the amount of fun there is, that sort of thing. I have played many events over the years and have experienced heavy lag and crashes before, however the event itself was a lot of fun, which is what I am more interested in seeing if the Restuss Event will be. Yep and as SAID 7 Godamn months ago this ENGINE IS OVER 6 years old AND WAS NOT MADE TO BE A BAD FPS WANNABE engine.
This engine lagged with target lock and a (auto turn to face) combat system. It was not nor should have ever BEEN made into this garbage. I took bets in one post -- I want to collect now.
I am not sure what's worse -- the fact the player base or Vet customers can tell you what is going to happen or that the Devs won't face that music. I have been in 40 man raids in WoW -- guess what -- sure there is LITTLE Lag but NOTHING like SWG ever had. The point is, the Dev team does have some common sense but just cannot accept failure and bad FUNCTION OVER FORM... sooner or later the NGErs will see the light.. it's taking a bit longer then expected but it will and is happening. I thought it would have happend closer to the 6 month mark but they seem to want to forget what was said about that mark in time.
So far I think we are about 2 months off from where I thought the game would be right now. I thought it would have been this bad 2 months or so ago -- Not sure why, other then Summer maybe - or kids out of school factor. I do know I saw a 8 or 9 year old kid pick this game up at Wal-Mart and said -- "I want to be a Jedi mommy!".. I stood there and said "Mam, you do not want to waste the 15.00 a month for that game... it is worth 2.00 just to see it.. but thats it." -- She commented with, "Well I would not let him play a game thats only worth 18.99 as it says on the box, I bet you get what you pay for with it"...lol All I could do was just laugh...

See this is why you are arguably the one person I really respect who is on the other side of the debate. You present what evidence you have in hostile territory. You don't add spin nor any gasoline AND you even admit to being wrong. You try and you're fair. Keep posting and remain the same (though you could fulfill your destiny and take your place by our side)...
As for the topic - yeah, it failed. Laggolicious. We all knew it would because SWG has never really had a major event that didn't go down the crapper due to lag. They were foolish to think that they could pull this off with just making the event and not figuring out a way to fight the lag that has plagued the game events since its launch. Its a huge hit and seeing its failure - SOE will be scrambling to find the next big thing to hype or with some hope - figure out something that will halt the free fall like modifying the engine in some way to make events more viable. Then again, not even WoW can truly handle a server scale event without killing a good bit of the connections to it.

It used to be us all the time that got the shaft due to the Devs having toons there. On the flip side, we need this to happen at least 50% of the time and continue to make this all worth while for the press to eat up soon.

Here is the problem. If the thing is going to lag like mud then the developers should have the intelligence not to do it. If the content is going to cause servers to shut down then the developers should be smart enough not to put it in. Instead of wasting programming time for these events they should be spending that time trying to update the engine so they can put these kinds of events into the game.
And when all is said and done they should NOT have lied to the community and said the event wont lag. Then when it does lag, as we all knew it would, they blame the players. Even guys on backbones only one or jumps from the servers had severe lag and crashed.
And as for the content... a huge battle between Rebel and Imperial forces yet the rewards are what? Suits of 4,000 year old armor. Yeah real thought out content there. Instead of using armor set in this time period they use armor from another game.
What is even worse then all that, is the people that are giving the developers kudos and thanks. Eventhough they are also talking about the lag they are thanking the developers for this very subpar work. Yes you should try to be positive but there truly is no positive side to this. People are PAYING them for this service and its well below average service.

Ya know, business leaders here in norway, are not too eager to hire young people. The last years experience with the younger generations have shown these business leaders that the younger generations lack "foresight" and the ability to think and make longterm plans.
Our "young" developer team clearly is part of that, since they truly lack the ability to plan ahead. They also lack the ability to see the trainwreck on paper, but have to act it out in REAL before they see the flaws.

Did they really have fun? I have my doubts. I was a SWG Fanboi too at one time. During the hologrind I had to do the entertainer grinds. Dancer and musician. Right after doing this I saw a post about grinding entertainer that someone said it was bullspit (edited for families) and hated grinding it. I replied it really wasnt bad and fun when you got into it. But honestly I did hate it. The worst profession for me to grind. I only said it wasnt bad because I was a fanboi and afraid I would look like a fool if I admitted it sucked.
Now of course this is a double edged sword because a hater will say everything in the game is horrid right? I have yet to see any haters out there that hate everything. Even I, being a hater, like somethings in the game and actually enjoy somethings.
Only fanbois say they enjoy everything. Even the things I know deepdown they hated they just dont want to admit it. This is why fanbois dont have any real credibility in my eyes. I used to be one. Worse then any of the fanbois to date actually.
Some how people will still deny this is where the game is right now...

While I certainly respect your right to your own views, that does not mean I necessarily must respect the views themselves.
I don't understand how you can rationalize it in the face of so much evidence to the contrary. I've read the suckboards for myself, and while I think the whining in some cases is less mature than it should be, it doesn't obscure the point being made. More and more people who were staunch supporters of this incarnation of SWG are starting to complain themselves, and that is the end product of the SOE developers, not us "terrorists". But you feel free to stay the course, only I would recommend that you put down the violin, and start looking for a life preserver.

It doesn't look like the best thing to go out and do :P But, there's more to the event then just that. If this whole battle was all there was to the Restuss event, then yeah I would be dissapointed with it and probably wouldn't plan on taking the day off to participate. However this is just a 40-60min transition phase to the battleground, the real thing I'm looking forward to from the whole Restuss thing. I'll be sure to post my opinion of the whole thing once it happens on Chilastra

If you think the CONTENT is more impportant then the simple MECH FUNCTION of the FREAKING GAME ENGINE WORKING then you need to never, ever go into anything technical --- ever.
You CANNOT HAVE FUN IN A MAJOR BROKEN SLIDE SHOW... and if you do then you really need to play some other games.. no really you do. Will it take quotes from your Dev team that you trust and believe? Will it take exact phrases and things said in a Dev Chat online??? What will it take for you to see that what they SAY and what HAPPENS are two different things??

I'm beginning to suspect the real purpose of the NGE/Restuss event is to find the masochists (MC for short) in the MMO community. $OE must have figured out that, no matter how poor a product they produce, the MCs will always remain - yes, they'll whine, flame, even talk about quitting, etc., but the MC subs will continue, these people will be there standing around the Restuss lagfest while the server crashes and the event gets bugged. Periodically I go check out the Intrepid forum just to see who is still playing and I'm shocked every time at the number of intellegent people who hate what the game has become but inexplicably remain. Yes, there are only 30 or so such people left on Intrepid, but those 30 just won't leave no matter what $OE does to them. It's just amazing.

I tell ya, it is sad when we can call things out like this before they happen and the Devs can't -- makes you wonder what monkeys are driving the bus.
Whats funny is that it's the only content in the game right now that is new.... and when you put 100 people (Which by the way is about all that it could take) before issues happend I see.
But thats ok --- we need this to keep happening to make this all perfect. Now what we need is alot and consistant Server crashes from it -- THEN it will really get fun..lol

As for the topic - yeah, it failed. Laggolicious. We all knew it would because SWG has never really had a major event that didn't go down the crapper due to lag. They were foolish to think that they could pull this off with just making the event and not figuring out a way to fight the lag that has plagued the game events since its launch. Its a huge hit and seeing its failure - SOE will be scrambling to find the next big thing to hype or with some hope - figure out something that will halt the free fall like modifying the engine in some way to make events more viable. Then again, not even WoW can truly handle a server scale event without killing a good bit of the connections to it.
Lol -- thats why they did not do it there first...
It used to be us all the time that got the shaft due to the Devs having toons there. On the flip side, we need this to happen at least 50% of the time and continue to make this all worth while for the press to eat up soon.

And when all is said and done they should NOT have lied to the community and said the event wont lag. Then when it does lag, as we all knew it would, they blame the players. Even guys on backbones only one or jumps from the servers had severe lag and crashed.
And as for the content... a huge battle between Rebel and Imperial forces yet the rewards are what? Suits of 4,000 year old armor. Yeah real thought out content there. Instead of using armor set in this time period they use armor from another game.
What is even worse then all that, is the people that are giving the developers kudos and thanks. Eventhough they are also talking about the lag they are thanking the developers for this very subpar work. Yes you should try to be positive but there truly is no positive side to this. People are PAYING them for this service and its well below average service.

There are actually twice as many negative posts in those posts than positive, so you're trying as hard as possible to Bait this crowd to call you out.
Instead of baitting, would you care to comment on the Server Crashes, or the server lockups, or the lag? You claimed these wouldn't be issues...
All I'm trying to show is some examples of people saying they had fun. These are views of the event from other people. I can't say if I had fun or not with the lag because the event hasn't happened on Chilastra yet (not too far away though). If you wanted a one-sided thread you should have made that clear at the start of the thread and I wouldn't have bothered

Ya know, business leaders here in norway, are not too eager to hire young people. The last years experience with the younger generations have shown these business leaders that the younger generations lack "foresight" and the ability to think and make longterm plans.
Our "young" developer team clearly is part of that, since they truly lack the ability to plan ahead. They also lack the ability to see the trainwreck on paper, but have to act it out in REAL before they see the flaws.

Did they really have fun? I have my doubts. I was a SWG Fanboi too at one time. During the hologrind I had to do the entertainer grinds. Dancer and musician. Right after doing this I saw a post about grinding entertainer that someone said it was bullspit (edited for families) and hated grinding it. I replied it really wasnt bad and fun when you got into it. But honestly I did hate it. The worst profession for me to grind. I only said it wasnt bad because I was a fanboi and afraid I would look like a fool if I admitted it sucked.
Now of course this is a double edged sword because a hater will say everything in the game is horrid right? I have yet to see any haters out there that hate everything. Even I, being a hater, like somethings in the game and actually enjoy somethings.
Only fanbois say they enjoy everything. Even the things I know deepdown they hated they just dont want to admit it. This is why fanbois dont have any real credibility in my eyes. I used to be one. Worse then any of the fanbois to date actually.

I don't understand how you can rationalize it in the face of so much evidence to the contrary. I've read the suckboards for myself, and while I think the whining in some cases is less mature than it should be, it doesn't obscure the point being made. More and more people who were staunch supporters of this incarnation of SWG are starting to complain themselves, and that is the end product of the SOE developers, not us "terrorists". But you feel free to stay the course, only I would recommend that you put down the violin, and start looking for a life preserver.

It doesn't look like the best thing to go out and do :P But, there's more to the event then just that. If this whole battle was all there was to the Restuss event, then yeah I would be dissapointed with it and probably wouldn't plan on taking the day off to participate. However this is just a 40-60min transition phase to the battleground, the real thing I'm looking forward to from the whole Restuss thing. I'll be sure to post my opinion of the whole thing once it happens on Chilastra

If you think the CONTENT is more impportant then the simple MECH FUNCTION of the FREAKING GAME ENGINE WORKING then you need to never, ever go into anything technical --- ever.
You CANNOT HAVE FUN IN A MAJOR BROKEN SLIDE SHOW... and if you do then you really need to play some other games.. no really you do. Will it take quotes from your Dev team that you trust and believe? Will it take exact phrases and things said in a Dev Chat online??? What will it take for you to see that what they SAY and what HAPPENS are two different things??
I'm not giving you a hard time kid, but I feel like this the same as talking to my 7 year old son and why he should not climb up into a tree he cannot get out of. I am old enough to tell that you are young, which is cool.. I would give anything to be that age again.. but please if your the future generation then PLEASE pay attention and do not be so forgiving and blind to what is going on. The best thing about this is that in a way, it's like a class... you can learn alot from this of what to and NOT do in a business or even project.
Simply put do not over promise and under deliver. Some of us are fighting to get the game back but crap, if people will just believe anything then Hell, we are just spinning our wheels.

I'm beginning to suspect the real purpose of the NGE/Restuss event is to find the masochists (MC for short) in the MMO community. $OE must have figured out that, no matter how poor a product they produce, the MCs will always remain - yes, they'll whine, flame, even talk about quitting, etc., but the MC subs will continue, these people will be there standing around the Restuss lagfest while the server crashes and the event gets bugged. Periodically I go check out the Intrepid forum just to see who is still playing and I'm shocked every time at the number of intellegent people who hate what the game has become but inexplicably remain. Yes, there are only 30 or so such people left on Intrepid, but those 30 just won't leave no matter what $OE does to them. It's just amazing.
