should i be looking elsewhere to see about skills and if there's even crafting in this game? are there only going to be dwarves, elves, humans, and orcs as playable races? do you get to choose how your stats (str, int, etc) are allocated?
the faq doesn't tell me much and what is omitted in the faq raises a whole lot of questions for a game that's planned to be released in 5 months or less.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
You are correct. A lot of this will be updated within the next two weeks in the FAQ. We are going to release the beta in 5 months.

Colton, please reread my post. I am not talking about your equally ridiculous legal threats concerning the removal of your "copyrighted" material. The only legal threats I referenced were the ones concerning alleged "SLANDER AND LIBEL". Specifically related to the four articles which I wrote and were posted by Pajari.
In case you got confused there I am only referring to the legal threats concerning alleged "SLANDER AND LIBEL".
Again, that is the threats concerning alleged "SLANDER AND LIBEL".
Please stop dancing around the actual points I'm trying to discuss with you. I'm trying to extend you a hand here and you're refusing to even look me in the eyes.
cool! the faq does sound like this could be the new and improved shadowbane and not just another eq-clone of mind-numbing-raiding and grinding for levels.
i didn't get involved with any of the craziness with the old owners, so i really don't have a pre-opinion of the game.
is there any other information about any character-information that you can give us now, that isn't covered in the faq? like X skills, totally craftable YZs, GM-driven events being part of the game, et cetera?

For those of you not clever enough to see past the lies of Loud Ant, the old team is still involved with the project. Egomancer himself is still involved. New name, same fraud, deception and lies as before.

I really like the touch with "42,000 registered users" like that has even a remote connection to future subscribers. Also registered where? The official forums have "Most users ever online was 36, 06-19-2006 at 08:32 PM." & "Members: 701, Active Members: 569" . Was never even that many registered users on the old Mourning boards.
90% finished? Well good thing those last 10% will be all new coding since old code was sooo stable & loaded with features
"We have been selling copies of this engine for 50,000 usd a piece and have sold 3 licenses." As far as I know only old team managed to sell any, & one of the licences was for some school(?) in africa.
Let the flaming begin is all i can say. You have to give colton credit for actually coming onto the forums saying that Loud Ant brought Mourning considering the stage of development and the rep it had amongst the general MMORPG community.
I personally wish them good luck and hope that it turns out ok.

I can almost guarantee you that we will again see a pre-order of some kind at or before the beta actually starts. It will be targeting all the people who are not already promised lifetime accounts, hehe. Probably be some "special" version of ToC that will give you some special crap when the game is finally released.
I think that all this "Free lifetime accounts" stuff is only more hype to try and persuade more newcomers and onlookers to once again "pre-order" when that time comes.
Their main source of advertising comes from spamming forum boards like these here with hype about the game. By them saying that everyone who was wronged before with this game will get a free lifetime account is a very hopeful way of trying to suck in more onlookers and potentially more pre-orders.
U can slap me if I turn out wrong, but I'm betting it all that there will once again be some type of pre-order for this same ol' same ol' game. We shall see in the coming months.
Let the soap opera of "Mourning/Age of Mourning/Thrones of Chaos" continue....
No, no, no. You can't slap me yet pal. We all must wait and see what they do. I've learned from watching this whole Mourning/Age of Mourning fiasco... and I have learned really only one thing. That is whatever they say or promise.. then believe the direct opposite and it will be closer to what actually happens with them. We won't know if they eventually release some kind of new special pre-order for their game again until it either happens... or until their game is finally released and we KNOW that they did not have a pre-order.
So... you hold that slap for me for a few months there pal. But if you don't end up being able to slap me because I end up predicting this special pre-order thing correctly... then be prepared to use that slap you've been holding so long on yourself! Bwah ha ha ha!
Well regardless of what I think of the entire AoM debacle, I have to give you props Colton.
It takes a huge amount of guts to not only pick this title up and try to turn it around (if your intentions are true that is) but to also communicate with the mmo community and continue to talk with them even when some of the replies are less then friendly.
Hats off to you for that, it takes courage and it is very, very refreshing to see. But please, for the love of whatever god you believe in, don't stop doing it. So far as I can see, your one and only hope of recovering anything from this game is relying on the community, they should be your soul and breath for the next few weeks, concentrate on rebuilding that and you have a chance. They can make you, easily, if they believe in you and what your doing but just as easily, they can (and will) break you.
Whichever way things go, if you are genuine with your intentions then I certainly wish you and your team the best of luck.
See, now you are all official. Now I can start to listen. I hope things work out and you turn that nightmare around. When the game releases I will look back into it.

I have to say that if the reaction to this thread by both Colton and those who are RIGHTLY skeptical of his claims is anything to go by, then this is just the next chapter in a very sorry tale of woe entitled "Flogging a Dead Horse, the story of how NOT to develop an MMO" Bitey, Derfel, myself and several other LONG term members of these forums saw this thing from start to what we thought was a finish. We have seen every wild and whacky claim about this game amount to nothing more than we ever predicted it would amount to and this is sweet zip all. The fact that no one is still able to show us anything remotely resembling a game and never was, just means nothing has changed from day one. If you call the sorry, one dimensional shambles that ran for a few weeks and ripped off a few hundred people a game, then send me your credit card details because you would clearly believe anything your told. To those who want to launch into Bitey and Derfl like they are somehow trolling, I can tell from your inception dates (blurr excluded) that you just dont know the history, so have a care. We have invested a lot of finger work in keeping this so called game honest and to see it being resurected at this late stage just seems like another suss development in a long line of suss developments. Lets not forget that it holds the dubious distinction of being the only MMO that was completely stricken from MMORPG.com's records due to the behaviour of the developers and mods in relation to thier dealings with MMORPG.com and thier customers. To Colton and Loud Ant. If you had any business savvy, you would have quietly bought the engine and renamed every single thing in it, lest anyone EVER find out that your prospective product had anything to do with Mourning. Coming to these forums and announcing your association with this terrible saga has to be the worst marketting move I have seen since John Romero called his customer base "bitches". JR now enjoys his very own blog site, somewhere in Eastern Europe and will probably never been seen in the games industry again save for mentions on forums like these about what a clown he was. http://www.johnromero.com/ Best of luck with your endeavours.... with a start like this....you will certianly need it.
heh I've been here for the whole thing, and I still think Bitey is trolling.

Really huh? Hmp ok then. Well, you should take a look at Nevrax and SoR... Ryzom was nowhere near a good game when it released, so why didn't they fail?
Easy answer, player base. They kept communication open, they let the player base into future plans and they continually improved upon the game. Result? The game is much better off now then it ever was, the player base is strong and growing and it's a really fun gaming experience.
Also, Jessica Mulligan has stated herself that the only reason SoR survived it's first year was because of the fans.
So say all you want that it's crap but the truth of the matter is, fans can make or break a game, especially when it comes to one with as tainted a history as this one.
P.S: My grandmother will be totally bummed when she hears you wouldn't care if she get's hit by a car... I mean seriously dude, you suck!

First of all, I'm a little suspicious of the shady business about the company not existing and a few of the other things mentioned in this thread (like the relationship to the previous dev team). I'd like some clarification on that before my mind will be at ease that LoudAnt is truely being clear with us.
However, I'd also like to say that I think the Krelslibrary guys are being trolls. Alot of the stuff they say is opinion and conjecture, and frankly they seem (in my eyes) to be trying to torpedo the new dev team in any way they can. They make comments about peoples ages and educations, when honestly that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Who cares if the ceo is 27? There are ceo's out there that are teenagers. Who cares if some guy didn't take 'Game Design' in college? When I was in highschool, i could have designed a better game than half the ones coming out. People in the gaming industry do stuff outside of their 'education' all the time. Don't think so? Go to the penny arcade site, go back a couple weeks and check out the article about the guy who went from doing cartoons to doing motion capture.
The Krelslibrary seem to be trying to play the Martyr now, yelling "Help help they're suing us!" when all the Colton guy said was "Take down anything illegal". If they had nothing illegal on their site, then they had nothing to worry about, did they? But it seems to me they knew that what they were doing was slander or libel, because if not, then why would they take it down? If you're going to say something about someone, and don't think it's illegal, then have the testicular fortitude to keep it up. If, however, you are doing something illegal, like unwarranted slander and libel, then guess what? You deserve to be sued. That's the whole point. If you only print things that are TRUE, then you can't be sued. That's why those laws are there, so every idiot with a webserver can't go and say "SoandSo kills babies" and ruin the name of a company because people think it's true. If it's true, then put it up and keep it up, so we can see who is right. If it's not true, then take it down or get sued, then we know Colton is right.
Honestly, the whole fact that they took anything down from the site make me think Colton is telling the truth and you guys are just trying to torpedo the new company. If not, then put up your facts with sources to back them up. Otherwise, you're just crying martyr.

Will do, bud. Since Colton apparently never sent any threats except one about hosting screenshots that were posted for nearly 2 years without a complaint (as long as we were kissing dev ass). We will absolutely repost the articles and let you decide for yourself whether our facts are justified.
I seriously apologize for not being as hardcore as you. We totally have no balls and wussed out. I am so ashamed
I mean if it were you, you would have totally shelled out $350 an hour for a lawyer to represent you so that you could keep up 8 pages of writing for people to read about a computer game. And that's why you're number one.
Sorry for the sarcastic nature of my post but what you're saying makes no sense in what we call "the real world".

ya i am sure old johnny boy is really having a hard time in life right now.
what a load of BS. all anyone has to do is release a good game. nothin makes or breaks anything except the quality of the game itself. release a great game and you succeed , release crap and you fail.
i couldnt care less if some dev ran over your freakin grandma. if the games good i'll be playin it! thats all
I mean seriously dude, you suck!

lol sorry.. i thought you were the one who made that post.
and btw - wasn't jessica mulligan that guy who turned into a girl? from turbine? I remember reading she used to be a he.
Okay well there's 2 things I want to point out.

I found a little bit of information about them on there old website, using the Google Cache search,

The cache date is 'Aug 6, 2005'. They've moved from making Anti-Spyware, centered in California, to making Video Games, centered in Oregon, in under 1 year. Hmm.

bleh, spam teams (like the ones who have 100s of thousands of email addresses and spam ya) do stuff like that all the time. tis nothing new.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
I seriously apologize for not being as hardcore as you. We totally have no balls and wussed out. I mean, in retrospect it totally makes sense for us to keep 4 articles posted on the internet that ultimately will have no affect on our lives, and take on a frivolous lawsuit that would have cost us thousands of dollars win or lose.
