FFXI was my first, then RFO, then EVE, then WoW, then back to eve and FFXI.

If you want an advanced job, it's not too much work to hit 30, then recruit some help for the quests
One thing you will want to do before this is look at which jobs would be a good sub for your planned main one, and use that as your stepping stone…
I used to play FFXI and my partner still does.
Grouping is core to the game, it will be nigh on impossible to do most things without some form of help from others.
Some classes CAN solo grind mobs and some quests at higher levels however.
