DAoC is the best MMO I ever played. Played it from launch in 2001, went to US servers, got a guild going on Bedevere (The United to any old timers). Played it for years. ToA messed it up badly and it went downhill from there. Eat my life up though.

Not sure if it should be here or not. Don't care. Glad I found it. Amazing fun game.
I play with lots of other players, I progress and level up the tanks and the crew.
It's fun.
Happy to pay for it.
Hmm. come to think of it, …
I should also add that while I own the game and all the available DLC and expansion, I wasn't overly impressed that the latest DLC is to revisit Golems....AGAIN.
<<shakes fist>>
Thanks for the news and article.
I like coming here because it isn't all about MMO only day in day out, but mixes it up a bit occasionally.
Besides, although the main focus is definitly on MMO, and that's great, the RPG bit is there for these so…
It's actually a pretty good old school type MMO, just needs a population surge. Wish they would merge into one global server.
Reminds me a lot of how EvE was back in the early days with a low pop but a great core game.
DAoC without any shadow of a doubt before they wrecked it with too muchridiculous PvE requirements and allowing rampant botting.
The housing wasn't all good either = deserted cities.
Yes I know it is still going, but it is not even close to th…
Having taken part in so many Betas since my first in DAoC, I find it annoying how many companies - especially in the last couple of years - who no longer use a Beta for feedback.
I wish they would stop mass inviting people to Betas, go back to wh…
I'm hoping ti will go full circle, devs will grow some balls and tell these solo demanding players to go do one.
Since the older MMO that demanded socialisiation, and grouping, to acheive anything meaningful in the game has gone, I have not taken …
MMO's as I knew them are already dead.
These days you can solo everything you need to and never have to contact anyone in game to acheive anything.
This encorages the, as somone else put it nicely, the "me-centric" attitude displayed in the repl…
Allowing the majority of players to decide the direction of an MMo is why most of modern MMO releases fail.
Most players are selfish, self centered, dickheads who have zero clue about what is best for the game, and no interest beyone what will mak…
Never read anything of his before.
Anyone who can come back and admit they were pretty much wrong in print deserves some respect even if you don't agree with his views.
Not many journos would do it. Especially some on here.
I liked the balance that DAoC had for crafting. Not overly complicated, very useful, and rewarded dedication.
It drove the economy, gave a focus to guilds (guild crafter needs support so guild goes out and gets items/loot to sell to support c…
Article is spot on after less than a hundred hours play.
I have more than a hundred hours play.
Still play it. If you take it for what it is and group up you can have an incredibly fun time of it.
I am sometims at a loss to explain why, but b…
How hard can it be to get 2 or 3 journos for the same publication to cover E3 in more depth by splitting up your appointments for presesntations allowing you more time to see the presentations and write more in depth articles about each, then bring …
Faction 1 : Space Marines
Faction 2: Chaos
Faction 3: Orks
Faction 4 : Tyranids (PvE)
Expansions could bring in more factions, and if required, they could then ally with one of the others. For example, first added faction is Eldar. They…
Races to start : Space Marines, Ork, Chaos. These 3 can fight each other very happily. Minimum 3 factions.
Expansion stuff : Eldar, Dark Eldar, Tau, vehicles, space combat, crafting.
Gameplay : Adult themed just like the IP, it needs violence, b…
I have played many MMO over the years, eventually they all come out with free trials.
Some I give another try (DAoC) to see if I can get back into it (no) , and whether the issues that made me leave the game have been resolved.
The ones that tar…
