1,5 year of Ultima Online: virtual world, best game ever
1 year of everquest: level+class= not a virtual world
3 month of Anarchy Online: loved the background (SF finally!) and its integration in the game. Big and beautiful world
1 year of World Of Warcraft: pinnacle of level+class games, liked it as a Diablo, but now developers: get away from grind games (you''ll never make one better than WoW anyway) and start making virtual worlds!
2 weeks of Eve Online: loved the huge world and endless possibilities of politics
1 month of Shadowbane: every other game should have this kind of PvP
best games ever: Ultima Online, Morrowind, Fallout
Other mmorgs I have tried (in no order): Guild Wars, City of Villains, City Of Heroes, Silkroad Online, Lineage 2, Priston Tale, Rubies of Eventide,Dungeons & Dragons Online, Auto Assault, Dofus, The 4th Coming, Wish, Graal Online, Irth Online, Planeshift...
Thanks Turbine (oops sorry, "Swizard").
Instancing for the outdoor world then, GuildWars again. Why do they keep having a monthly fee for this game? to pay them to finish their GuildWars clone?
Yeah same question as Celestian. If more than one group can go in these zones, that's a really good improvement (which could make me check out the game), if it's instanced for one group again:
Interesting results. I guess the peoples crying about this really are a minority. This move from Blizzard might well save the game from boredom a lot of players are feeling at the moment
AFAIK, Everquest 2, Age Of Conan, Warhammer Online, Vanguard, D&D Online and LOTR Online (basically all the games that have raids) have or will have a 20-25 players cap on raids. Seems like a general trend in mmorpg...

Completely agree. Once a developer leaves a game its doomed to fail. And that is a fact. There is no way they could ever find a replacement equal or better then the one that left right? When a dev leaves a game just q…
I started searching around and was amazed at the number of important peoples that left Blizzard, here are the results of my searchs, the names are the developers who left and the studio they have gone to follows it:

I, for one, am glad that there is no mention of Vanguard. Even before SOE, I was amazed at how a game could be hyped based only on a well known team and it's promises. really what award could it have won? Its not based on a license, the booth qualit…
I believe that we can't have any discussion on what mmorpgs are without talking about Wow. This game is the best and worse thing that could happen to mmorpgs.
Mmorpg these days just have ONE recipe: the EQ way. Devellopers can "hide" it under a mad…
What I think is happening:
Wolfpack is getting ready to announce Shadowbane 2 at E3 in less than two month. The problem is that lots of peoples read bad reviews of Shadowbane based on its state on release day. Now that Wolfpack improved it, they wan…

I really still can't understand this issue AT ALL. peoples took offense for something that wasn't aimed at gay peoples at all IMO. To me, this whole story is like someone making a "real-life brown hairs peoples guild", its simply a non-issue in a R…
Don't forget that in Wow, hordes and alliances have two totally separated chats servers. If inter-faction communication was possible, you could only speak or yell. There is no risk of making a /tell or being on the same zone chat as someone from the…
I was thinking like you miber, I thought new games would be forced to be completely different from The Everquest-likes because Wow is the ultimate version of this type of games....then I tried the two next mmorpg that are going to be released: DD On…
I thought I'd have more reactions to my previous post, I guess everyone thought I was a troll but I was being serious.
The question I was asking basically was: since the dawn of mmorpgs, why does traditional everquest-likes games can get nice graph…
What the article describes is what a lot of peoples started thinking even when Ultima Online started 8 years ago. This article talks more about "virtual worlds" (=>immersion and liberty) than a game (clear objectives with time being the most impo…
