Ultima Online. The only mmorpg that was really a mmorpg and not just a cooperative single player game (cough EQ, cough WOW, Cough SWG... ) Consequence, danger, fun, betrayal, the list goes on & on.

Lack of controversey between players. No community. These things will make a mmorpg boring fast. FFA PVP & Item Looting in PVP keeps a game interesting for years.
