  • Too many holes in your argument for me to really believe you. Another post you had in that same thread: 'I enjoy playing WOW, so i never felt i was forced to pay' So you did play WoW or you no? I tried another newbie character on my girlfriends …

  • I'd love to join and I'd throw my votes towards VG or EQ2 but like the rest, I'd want to play on the server my characters are on. DDO is a fantastic grouping game, as well as COH or even AO.  All of which are free to play but there doesn't seem to …
  • Remember, you can return it for a full refund. Just returned my game as I hate to support this constant dumbing down of games by any producer.  It's hard to believe Blizzard has turned from being such an inovative company to this bean counter busin…

  • Anything pre WoW. Ranting but WoW changed MMO's from worlds to explore to a game that you are lead around by the nose. Personal favorites are EQ and AO.  Yes there are quests but they are more focused on just killing stuff.
  • I'm also burnt out on most of them and am back to playing the original NWN on the Higher Ground servers.  They are truly amazing what they did with the game.  I highly recommend checking it out.  You can pick up the diamond edition of NWN on Good ol…
  •  After playing most of the big name MMO's since UO was released I'd have to say AO was and currently is the deepest and most varied of the group.  Those of you asking for cyberpunk, AO has elements of that.  Implants, decks and nano's as well as a…
  •  It is entirely personal preference. I tried FFXI when it was released and I didn't like the control scheme, the general population wasn't very helpful at the time and the magic race with the baby talk drove me absolutely insane. AO on the other…
  •  DDO.  Pretty much have to group to do most of the content, meant as group dungeon crawling and has a good grouping interface that works well. EQ.  The grandfather of grouping MMO's, the one that really started the 'must have a group' theme.  Not …
  •  For the type of visceral combat it sounds like you are after I would say AoC or DDO.  Those 2 in particular aren't the typical 'sit there and swing for minutes' type, they are much faster and more engaging.
  •  I would agree that SWG, Ryzom, Vanguard and EQ2 have the best crafting systems and probably in about that order.  It's a damn shame SWG is on it's 3rd iteration as I'd still play that game almost for the resource finding, crafting system alone as i…
  •  EQ was extremely unforgiving and 'hard'.  It pretty much required a group to do anything and because of this there were always groups to be found and the community all knew each other because of the interdependance. Now, thanks to WoW, the Bud Li…
  •  Any bets on whether Martie plays WoW? or Torik?
  •  A bunch of EQ nostalgia in the FOH forums, www.fohguild.org/forums/mmorpg-general-discussion/39153-evercracked-everquest-documentary.html
  •  Lowest common denominator game. WoW is the Bud Light of MMO's.  Bud Light is (or actually just recently surpassed) the most popular beer on the planet but to any beef affectionado will tell you it's crap.  It's watered down adjuncts. I agree th…
  •  Well they are planning on upgrading it to Age of Conan's graphic engine but right now it's very dated but for sheer amazing amount of depth and amazing gameplay, you can't beat Anarchy Online.  Don't be frightened off by the large learning curve, t…
  •  So many for me and these posts just remind me of others I had.  Sorry for the length but I blame all of the previous posters for making me remember all of these. Part of what made it was there was so little known.  When EQ was released none of us…
  •  Eve excluded since you don't even interact with a landmass hands down it's Battleground Europe. Battleground Europe is a large chunk of Europe at 1/2 scale covering 350,00km with over 4 million 3d trees. Granted only some of the towns are fough…
