To the best of my knowledge your toons will still be there,you just wont be able to access them unless you buy character slots or pay a subscription.As far as which ones you get to play i believe you get to pick which ones you want.

i think you have to change your character's face....some look older then others.As far a age slider or anything like that i did not see one.
