If I said originally that this was another post, would we be blasting each other?  I think not.  Someone truly believes my orginal post with all their heart.  When I first read it, I thought to myself " OMG, can this really be the way someone thinks?"  So I decided to post it on this site, which is my favorite.

I look at the diverse group of people here and thought it would stir up some emotions.  Holy Sh*t, I had no idea the extent this would go......well maybe I did.  It is amazing how we as gamers are thought of by many people as immature people, when in fact we are very intelligent and have firm beliefs on politics, religion and life itself.

People laugh at me at work because I am a gamer.  F**k em.

That's the thing is that I don't believe it to be such an outlandish and out there idea.  The problem with the notion that our country is blessed by God due to its origional Christian values is that those origional Christian values were also coming from people who were too scared to talk about slavery, because they themselves owned slaves.  Man was given domain over plants and animals, not his fellow man.

If ignorance is bliss you are the happiest person on this planet. I would post why I think this post is absurd but you obviously revel in your limited knowledge, I'll just sit back and be satisfied with my own knowledge that someday you will find yourself on the other side of death's door with 3 words running over and over your mind for all eternity... "WTF!?!?!?"

(BTW I know what's on that other side, I've been there and back when I died on an operating table, good luck chump you'll need it)

Think about this, would you guys have responded in the same fashion, if the text posted at the beggining of this thread did not have a kernel of truth at its core?

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

    Hmmm

Maybe reading only one book has affected your reading and comprehension skills.

I dont see anything in my post about my opinion of the tollerance of religious people.

What I said was, regardless of thier positions on anything (which I regard as irrlevant nonsense) I will be simply placing the burden of proof of thier tooth fairy logic back on them, like I should have been doing since day one instead of politely agreeing because I thought there was no point arguing with the near clinically insane.

    http://video.google.com.au/videoplay?docid=-6169720917221820689&q=god+delusion

ORLY?  SO when you said that you would be less tolerant of us crazy tooth fairy believers, you just meant that you would be placing a burdon of proof upon them?  Okay, maybe it's not my reading comprehension skills, but your lack of an ability to write what you actually mean.  OOOH see?  I can make baseless accusations about your intelligence as well!!  You're right, the only book I've ever read is the Bible, I've never even looked at another book in my life...such a hyperbole from someone who seems to pride himself on being so logical, I find that interesting coming from someone like you.

So religious people are nearly clinically insane?  And people like you shun christians for being intollerant of moral relativity...pardon me if I'm going to make a concerted effort to be less tolerant of your hypocracy.

No I shun them for being near clinically insane. Again there arnt many words in my post, you shouldnt be having this much difficulty reading it.

...pardon me if I'm going to make a concerted effort to be less tolerant of your hypocracy.

    Your pardoned

I'm not sure what makes you think that I am having trouble reading your intellerant and biggoted posts....I read them perfectly fine, the language is clear and concise, you don't like religion and think that anybody who is religious must be crazy...while at the same time complaining that religious people aren't tolerant of non religious people, and even going so far as to say that you will be less tolerant of them in the future.  You my good sir, are a hypocrite, congratulations.

Just out of curiosity, are you agnostic, or athiest?

There is no point trying to reason with them either.

If they get too close beat them away. Otherwise leave them be.

    No doubt.

People like you never let facts stand in the way of a good argument.

i am surprised at you, Razor.  youre a Mod.  now i know mods have opinions too, but really, to not only get drawn into an arguement lasting for 2 or more pages, but to also insult someones inteligence based on faith.  wow, what can i say.  im sorry that youve had bad experiences with religious people.  but to go so far as to call all religious people "clinicly insane".  what happens to respect for individual opinion.  you as a mod are suppose to uphold that ideal.  if the mods cant control their own posts, how are the reg. posters expected to do it.  and i respect your opinion and views, but did i deserve to be insulted because of something that i believe?  or for that matter, the millions of other people in the world that believe in a greater power?  if youre going to be less tolerant of all those millions of other human beings that dont believe exactly like you, what makes you any different than they?  btw, religious people arent the only ones that are "clinicly insane", there are plenty of athiests and agnostics that cause wars, kill people, rob and rape people.  its not a religious thing, its a human thing.  its human nature to be at odds with others.  religion as a whole is designed to make us more intouch with each other, not drive us away from one another.  ive read more than one book in me life, doesnt automaticly make me an athiest.  i believe in God, doesnt make me "clinicly insane".  and for you to say so, IMO, is wrong.  your opinion, or not, its still an insult.  and we shouldnt have to endure it, least of all from the Mods.

    He ain't wrong, Planno..

Religion is a weird mental condition.

    For example...

If a man at 40 years of age is afraid to sleep in the dark, wouldn't you find that strange?

how the hell you gonna compare a 40 yr old man afraid to sleep in the dark to belief in a higher inteligence.  lol, thats just stupid.  lol, funny, but irrelevant.

That only proves the arguement. Just look at all those hundreds, if not thousands of childrean each year that claimed they have seen santa. And lets not forget the christmas presents under the tree each year, those came from santa too, who ELSE would have put them there. Santa comes from the north pole, in a hidden place filled with elves, a land full of joy and presents.

My post might seem to be a "funny post" but its not, its a serious one. replace the santa concept with religion, and I'm sure some of you will see what I'm getting at.

yeah, i see what youre getting at, replace a big fat guy that climbs down your chemney and delivers presents made by elfs in one night to all the world in a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer with a being that has all power.  yeah, striking similarities (sarcasm intended).  good point, ill just go check meself in to the nearest mental ward.  dont know why i never saw that before.

It seems to me that religion has kept us apart more than bring us together.

To put total unwaivering faith in something that I have never expirienced or seen with my own two eyes is something I just can not do. To simply accept something so grand based on information passed down from generation to generation that I know for fact is subject to interpritation and can easily be manipulated, and to be willing to kill or die for such a thing to me is..........insane.image

I'd rather put my faith in something that can not be changed to fit the wants or needs of individuals, like math for example. Poeple can fight over who the real messia was or the right and wrong way to live their lives but 2+2=4 no matter how you look at it. I think our society is reaching a point where it is time to turn more to science and leave our outdated beliefs behind befor we destroy ourselves over it.

i respect your viewpoint.  and i agree if all you base your faith in is what is "passed down", and you have never experienced it yourself, then yeah, that is silly.  personal experience is always fact for the person experiencing it.  you can say that its not fact, but that doesnt mean squat to the person that experienced it.  i dont base me faith on what is "passed down", i (like you) cant do that.  btw, math isnt going to tell you your purpose in life, or what happens after death, or help you through difficult times in your life.  i understand what youre getting at.  but to me, God is a very real truth.  call me crazy if you wanna, but that doesnt change the reality for me.  all it does is make me offended by you pushing your system of beliefs off on me.  kinda like what you blame all relgious people for doing.  what ever happened to you worry about yourself and let me worry about meself?  this was the battle cry coming from nonreligious people.  now its get rid of your outdated beliefs and believe like we do.

....while others simply DON'T get what I'm getting at...

Believing that a fat man can bring presents all over the world, presents that were made at a world of joy by elves, is rediculous,  Yet you do believe (assuming that your religious) that a man can create an entire world in just 7 days,People that can fly, walk over water, staves that turn into snakes and a lot of more things. You also believe that once people die, people will go to heaven...a "Place of joy and happiness, home to angels". And you believe this...because you were told to believe it. Just like your parents told you Santa exists when you were little.

Do you NOW see what I'm getting at
