Mass. lawmakers advance gay marriage ban!

outfctrloutfctrl Member UncommonPosts: 3,619

Now this is good news because I suspect that it means gay marriage in the United States is about to come to a long overdue end (at least until the judicial activist libs on the Supreme Court get a chance to force it on America):

This whole incident shows you how comfortable liberals are with subverting democracy when it conflicts with their ideological goals. Initially, the liberals on the Massachusetts Supreme Court invented a "right to gay marriage" out of whole cloth and declared it to be Constitutional law. So, the only way it could be changed was a Constitutional Amendment.

Then, after the necessary signatures were collected to get a vote on a Constitutional Amendment, most of the Democratic legislators, including the incoming Governor, didn't want to allow the question to be decided by the people. In other words, the Democrats bent over backwards to try and make sure that the people weren't allowed to have any say at all about an issue as important as gay marriage.

But now, the people are going to get to vote and even in Massachusetts, one of the most liberal states in America, it looks likely that gay marriage will be voted down.

THANK GOD

The religious right oppress the people once again.

    Shocking.

Wouldn't you feel more at home in a totalitarian fascist state that openly imprisons homosexuals?

I don't have a lot of chances to say it, but this is one of them. Reading this makes me damn proud to be a citizen of the Netherlands, where gay marriage IS allowed, in fact, we were the first to allow marriage between the same sexes. Despite that many political groups are religious, the Netherlands is NOT controlled by religion.

What should have been done from the start.

If the people vote for the ban. Good for them.
If they vote against the ban. Good for them.

Since i don't live in Mass. My personal opinion means diddly squat, as it should, since i don't live there.

Balkenende's party is indeed against homosexual marriage, and as I said,  some political groups are religious, but they can't, and won't even try, to ban gay marriage in the netherlands. the Netherlands is one of the, and many claim THE, most tolerant country on earth towards homosexuality.

Anyway, So much for America's "Equal rights" eh?

sexuality as a whole is very sketchy in holland... Didn't the legal age of sex get dropped to 15 a couple years back in holland?

And I'm from the Netherlands Antilles and Hollands government tried to force our lessor government to make that change as well..

Then wasn't there the party that was running for government that wanted to make child pornography legal and drop the legal age for sex down to 12? thank god they didn't get enough support to go all the way through..

Holland as a whole in terms of sexuality is very very sketchy and loose... And I dont consider that  a good thing...

its seperation of church and state.  marriage in religion is between a man and a woman.  however legal(IE. state) marriage sex should have no bearing whatsoever.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

I think the current legal age for sex in the netherlands is 16. There was indeed a pedophile political party in the Netherlands. They didn't get enough votes By a loooong shot, and LOADS of people responded shocked that such a political party was even to exist. I think its only a matter of time before that gets banned.

Maybe all the gays could move to the Netherlands...problem solved.

By the way, the only reason the liberals support gay marriage is to get the gay vote...period.

And what, pray tell are the others voting for?  What they feel is right?  Funny, because I feel that I am on the right side.

I don't believe in moral relativity.  I think that it's funny how whenever someone disagrees with a liberal, it's because the liberal is a free thinker, but those that disagree are simply lockstepping with whatever group happens to be a proponent of their beliefs.  Get over yourselves, you aren't being free thinkers just because you believe in moral relativity.

When the people decide what is right, you should cheer...when the people decide what is wrong, you should cheer.  Instead though, you say that the people are wrong, and that they are only doing what their religion tells them to.  How would you feel if I said that the only reason abortion is legal is because the people who support it are influenced by Satan?  Hmm, quite the inconsistancy predicament you find yourself in isn't it?

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

This is a cause of equal rights here, How can anybody justify that?  WHY should homosexuals not be allowed to marry? I'd really like an answer to that. a good one.

The OP speaks about "good news", Why is it good news? does it even have ANY kind of effect on him at all?

Where is this so called "Equal rights now eh"? Hey Op, where is your america, "Land of the freedom" now hm?

    The people will decide?

You mean like after Waco and the people agreed it was a good idea to start banning weapons? Or after 9/11 and the people agreed it was a good idea to start removing more and more of our freedoms?

The government can play "the people" like a violin. Its like a animal lab. They know exactly what to do and say to get the mice to push the peddle.

Look at a certain tax that was brought awhile ago. It was orginally called an Estate Tax. Basically it was a way to tax rich people after they died. People agreed with it. So they pushed the peddle. But the rich people (the ones who make huge contributions to politicians) didnt like it so the name of it was changed to Death Tax all of a sudden people didnt like it so much. Why? Because death could happen to them.

The government has one of the best marketing agencies in the world. They know exactly how to get people to vote how they want them to vote if its for a common goal.

So no the people wont decide. The government will decide for the people and the people will do what they are told as always.

I guess this will be a excellent way for the American people to decide if their country is going to live up to it's "Freedom" tag, it keeps boasting around with. Or if it's going to be one of the religious bastions in the west...

If you let people have total freedom they do all sorts of crazy shit. Next they will be wanting to marry farm animals, do they allow that in the Netherlands? If not, then why? I mean they should give the guy who loves his goat girlfriend the right to marry her if he wants to shouldn't they?

I love guys who compare homosexuality with beastiality, it really shows that they probably think having sex with a bitch (female dog) is the same as doing it with a woman.... if you do, then your line of thinking is correct in your opinion but i really doubt you think it's the same.

This post is not meant to insult but just to show you that your thinking is absurde, thank you.

There are always going to be people who do what they're told not to do or what you and I see is wrong, whether or not the laws say what they're doing is allowed, or society says it's right/wrong. Don't equate the crazy fucks out there to freedom, because when you do you enable the politicians and agenda-pushers to slowly unzip their pants and stick it in your ass. And if we're going to call anything gay around here, I'd say that tops it.

This topic keeps popping up over the last few years. I don't see what the problem is with 2 members of the same sex wanting to live together. Just have civil unions and give them the same benefits as a married couple. IMO homosexuality is an unnatural  behavior issue. However homosexuality doesn't affect my life in any way. Just don't tread on my religious beliefs and the right to exercise them (within reason).

I was going to respond, but I can't say much more than what you said.

The only thing I'd like to add is a comment to the OP...

We don't live in a democracy.  I know you Democrat's and Republican's are tearing away at our Republic and our freedom as much as you can and maybe this is a sign that you've succeeded.  If so, then aren't you proud of yourself?  You've used the government to manipulate people's behavior again.  Woohoo, for you!!!

Now, I hope you hold strong to that majority rules is always right mentality for everything.  We'll see how consistent you are.
