Anyway.
I've tried every class in the game except for warriors to at least level 8 (most to 10).The starting zones have been varied, I probably havent seen them all, but I'd like to think most. I didn't try warrior because thats what the BF plays so I was familiar enough with how they handle. My most frustrating character was a High Elf Cleric in Leth Nurae that I got to 14 completely solo then quit playing because my boyfriend's char was down in Kojan and getting there proved to be a substancial pain in the butt. I messed with a few other characters at this time mostly in the Qalia(near Khal) starting area, the Dark Elf starting area, and the Tanvu area. I was staying away from Thestra because Leth Nurae made me that upset, lol. I made a Kojan blood mage that I got to 11 but wasn't really feeling, before rolling my disciple (also in Tanvu) which I was thoroughly enjoying until they ruined disciples XD. The disciple was probably what I would have considered my 'main', pre nerf. Afterwards I tried a monk to about level 8 but wasn't liking it, and right now I am working on a Shaman since they can at least start on the continent I'd like to be on (Kojan). Since no Kojan, not even Kojan humans, can be clerics, disciples are ruined, and blood mage is well, a 'mage' (doesn't really appeal to me as much), Shaman's my last choice if I'm going to play healer/support so that's what I'm working on now.
As far as bugged quests, npcs, and issues - admittedly my worst experiences were in the Leth Nurae area. I saw almost no other people around, half of my quests didn't work, an NPC in town randomly killed me for no reason ( I wasn't even targetting that NPC, so I know it wasn't due to accidentally attacking him). I also saw 2 of the other 3 people I saw in my total time grinding to 14 in that area were dead next to that NPC. Naturally I reported it, lol. When I speak of strange monster behavior, the arcanium in Leth Nurae is a fine example of mobs aggroing through walls, through floors, or 'sinking' into the floor while you're fighting them where you can't target them but they are still pounding on you. Also mobs in there aggro from 100+ meters away and lock you in combat mode so you cannot regen and thus end up getting killed at some point. I've gotten stuck in countless bits of the scenery, also mostly in that area. In Tanvu my experiences were not as bad, except for the very glitched chunk line NW of Tanvu where the mobs procession into the sea.
There are a lot of 'global' issues - display issues w/ tooltips and the map that don't seem to be particular to my computer or to my settings, improperly journaled/marked quests, quests being broken etc. Example of what I mean by a broken quest is the Choosing your Side quest in Tanvu where you choose Lao'jin or Rai'jin was broken for an entire day last week, because the 'crystal spirits' that are supposed to jump out and attack you when you choose positive or negative energy? They were already spawned and standing around, yet unattackable. When I first tried the quest there were two of them, and I kept checking back throughout the day there were more and more, to finally 5 before I logged off for the evening giving up on that quest entirely. If it had been my first Tanvu character, I woul dnot have been able to progress beyond that point as completing that quest is necessary to be told where to go for subsequent quests in that line, as well as being a direct prerequisite for other quests, so it was a fairly big issue. I've run into things like this in a couple of the other 'newbie' zones as well. Especially missing NPCs. Your compass and your map tell you they're right here, but they're not. Someone trained them somewhere perhaps and they got stuck, but they are gone for HOURS. One time one of the NPCs I needed to speak to ( Dark Elf town) was stuck inside a tent wall and untargettable. Smaller issues - targetting a quest npc and right clicking it instead of opening a dialogue targets another nPC that is close to them, making you unable to talk to them unless you target them with tab and type /hail, that sort of thing.
I've easily invested 100+ hours in this game, granted I haven't done anything really 'high lvl' (highest so far being 16) since I really wanted to choose a class I liked that would still be good support for a group while being able to at least minimally solo. To that end I pretty much created and tried everything to level 8 - 10 to see how they handled and what kind of skills they got. I like the class diversity in this game, the world is beautiful and the varying cultures are very well done. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to 'bash' vanguard, but it does need a LOT of work, and if you're playing a particular class in a more 'finished' area with less issues and all your skills work, its easy to understand why you're not seeing my issues. I have a friend who played a druid in the beta and is playing a druid now (vulmane)and she's loving it, she hasn't seen any of the extremely frustrating things that have affected me. So it really depends where you are, I suppose. Tanvu and Khal were not as bad, but to me it seems the 'less played races' ( or races that have the fewest amount of classes they can be and start in low population areas) tend to have the most problems, presuambly because there was just less overall feedback from these people during the beta.

They should put in some kinda of fillter. if you vote all 1's-2's the system just dump the review and you lose points. Iknow theres some pretty bad games out there but c'mon! There has to be a quality in every game the deserves at least a 3 LOL! MMORPG.com probably gets what... 1% or less of all people who play MMORPG's?? those 1% are the ones who are "hardcore" enough to spend time at work/home/school logging onto a website about MMORPG's and posting on the forums....
the other 7.99 million WoW players don't come to MMORPG.com and give it ratings, but the 1% of MMORPG addicts that all come to MMORPG.com and rate/post give WoW a worse rating then it deserves... and give Vanguard a MUCH better rating then it deserves out of spite for WoW....

I've always personally thought that you should just have to wait 2 months before rating a game. Usually, the people who do these boots/detractions to the rating do it to spite fans/haters. I'd be willing to say very few people are so bitter that they'd wait 2 months, merely to manipulate the ratings system.

If you are worried about how a rating in a small box that appears on the front of the site packed with moving images and pictures which draw your attention to them and not the poll, if you are a new vistor you won't notice the poll. People make up their minds based on word of mouth reports, reviews and what they judge on their own by playing on a friends account, beta testing or via a trial; polls have little affect on their judgement.
That being said if people say this game is crap based on direct play or via a review it will stay crap in their minds they will tell friends who intern will tell someone else who intern will tell someone else etc you can not change their minds. It's just like WoW i think the game technically is poor and way too basic and linear if you try explaining that to someone who loves WoW it's like talking to a brick wall.

WoW player base does not care about VG, as far as they're concerned VG is utter rubbish, and they don't care, the whole "they feel threatened and raised a zombie army against teh greatest MMO of ever to come, VG" line of arguments stems form frustration, no less. 8 mill subscribers back them up, that's something, even if I dislike WoW. If VG flops, it flops because Sigil messed up somewhere.
I gave the game a 6, as it's not bad, it just isn't for me (3rd gen, yeah right!).

Indeed. Despite the plethora of problems VG has in its current state, I still gave it a 6.5. Its not bad, but its not the 10 that so many people claiming it is. As to what it may become? We'll have to wait and see.

I play MMOs mostly for the social experience, and as such always try to be friendly, start non gaming discussions, organize events and the likes. Vast majority of the players I met in beta were like a brick wall in this regard. I once brought up the state of the MMOs in general and MxO for instance for it's emotes, and like an explosion, they attacked me. Called me a WoW fanboy, when I never even mentioned that game. The overall frustration of many players was transparent, not the kind of cool atmosphere I was looking for.
Now this issue is not a problem for me anymore, as I don't play, but treating potential fellow subscribers like so is immature, and VG has a lot of these people, older, but a child in behavior.

That is actually really unfortunate that you had that experience. I never played beta, didnt even know this game existed until about a month ago and have found the opposite of what you experienced. I joined the game on my own, no guild coming over from another game or anything, did a digital download so I had no manual..so I ended up asking random people...some random things. Most people are helpful and I have a few people on my friends list that I party with whenever they are on and want to do something.
I do look for a relaxed mature crowd as well and from my experiences found one but, its very subjective...its just unfortunate what happened to you, not sure if it was the Beta in general or what.

WoW player base does not care about VG, as far as they're concerned VG is utter rubbish, and they don't care, the whole "they feel threatened and raised a zombie army against teh greatest MMO of ever to come, VG" line of arguments stems form frustration, no less. 8 mill subscribers back them up, that's something, even if I dislike WoW. If VG flops, it flops because Sigil messed up somewhere.
I gave the game a 6, as it's not bad, it just isn't for me (3rd gen, yeah right!).
Oh and spare me the "why do you spend your time bashing a game you don't even like/are interested in .. etc etc etc" comments, this is an open board, it is my right to post here, so if you happen to have arguments, then bring them on, but make no childish comments about my person.
Indeed. Despite the plethora of problems VG has in its current state, I still gave it a 6.5. Its not bad, but its not the 10 that so many people claiming it is. As to what it may become? We'll have to wait and see.

Now this issue is not a problem for me anymore, as I don't play, but treating potential fellow subscribers like so is immature, and VG has a lot of these people, older, but a child in behavior.
I do look for a relaxed mature crowd as well and from my experiences found one but, its very subjective...its just unfortunate what happened to you, not sure if it was the Beta in general or what.
Also the person who actually sits there and investigates these accounts then has to make a whole thread about it is also pathetic, goes both ways really.

This game is poo. My rating is a honest 1 I dont like soe and the fact that I get terrible graphs from this one. My pc runs wow pretty well though
