I don't know how you do it, Anarchy, but you make me laugh every time, and I'm not laughing with you. The whole "you're life must suck, try playing soccer" (football, btw, as the european sport had "copyright" on the name first) line of arguments is as utter rubbish as it may ever get, we are all the same here, if you're a loser just because you are here then so am I.
Sweet, I have another fan. I would bet my car that you really don't laugh out loud though, you're just being a dink. Nice forum name though, is it your first, second or eleventh?
Yeah, I guess time has come to reveal my true intentions.
I have created 15 characters well over a year ago, using my great powers of foresight to plan THE GREATEST CONSPIRACY against THE GREATEST GAME EVER. They were named random1 through random15 (quite the genius plan really, noone could ever link these names together... EVER!). After having boiled the strategy with the threatened leaders of the evil WoW empire, I decided to get to work, writing posts on the fate deciding battleground, MMORPG.COM. After having achieved the near impossible task of 100+ posts on each of the uber-secret, undetectable aliases, time has come to put my malefic plan in motion, and thus rated VG 15 times one, on this heroic battleground!!!
But some anarchist came and blew the whole conspiracy out of the water! If only I had his intelligence... But never mind that, the damage has been dealt, a life purpose fulfilled!
Brewing the conspiracy was not an easy task, worked on it for 2 years, in the meanwhile losing 5 jobs and 2 wives (not even counting the children)... but in the end I, and the 8 million strong, threatened 12 year old wow playerbase was successful, I have achieved my life goal!!! Now I can go play some "soccer". LMAO!!!!
Bravo!!!

i was in the beta...it was buggy then and it is buggy now....you cant disagree with that BUT, if you are a fan of buggy crap-fests, this is the game for you
name 5 bugs...
1. Mobs disappear during combat, you have to walk away from them to make them reappear.
2. Character appearance or gear is sometimes incorrect upon login.
3. Mobs behave oddly near chunk lines, warping around or walking backward.
4. Some armor and weapons are not visible when equipped. In fact, the game launched without helm graphics showing at all.
5. Harvesting nodes can become bugged are not collectible until the chunk is reset... fortunately it crashes often enough that this issue works itself out.
Now, I could list 5 right off the top of my head... without mentioning performance issues or specific quests and crafting recipes that are bugged. When you posted that, did you really think it would be hard to come up with 5?
Happens for all games, Vanguard isn't any different. Fanboi's create tons of accounts giving everything 10's, and detractors create accounts to give everything 1's.

1. I'll give you that. they don't disappear though, the warp away and they run back to you at mach speed. It doesn't happen all the time and it seems to be related to a skill. The only thing is, you can still attack the mob as if it were still there, so it only appears to be gone. You can still kill it and loot it where it was pre-vanish. No real harm done there, but it is a bug. Not game breaking IMHO.
2. I havent seen this. What items?
3. Again, I'll give you this bug. (Sometimes, I love it when you need to get away though.) Not to many dungeons (actually, none that I know of) cross a chunk line, so during your normal group session, this will probably happen to you once in a game session and most likely when trying to run somewhere. Again, no harm, but it is a bug. Not game breaking IMHO.
4. Again, the only thing I can think of thats not visible is helmets. It's not really a bug though, just a part of the game that's not in yet. Again, not game breaking IMHO.
5. I don't harvest. I'm an adventurer. During Beta though, I did harvest and never had this problem. Bug, ok. I think there's a command /endharvest or something that should fix that though. I wouldnt call this a game breaker either. And I have never since release had the server crash on me. Not sure where you were, but I'm going to say you might be strecthing the truth on this one.
By my records, that's 3 bugs. A feature n ot in game is not a bug. A computer not being able to draw the game at High Quality at 100fps is not a bug. If it crashed the client (by some other reason than your video card puking) it might be a bug.
We really need to establish here that it's not the bugs turning people off. It's probably their distaste for a particular mechanic of the game, or that some people just hate SOE for some odd reason.
It happens. The WoW fanbois are just so used to games handing them everything on a silver platter that they have to trash anything new or challenging.
Well the issue is that Vanguard is broken, unoriginal, and Sigil lied to its playerbase. I as a beta tester (not professional) and advent fan of Vanguard am both surprised and upset that anyone would release this game in the state that its in.

on point one, they don't run away, the fall in to the ground and can still damage you, but you get "cant see target". If you walk backward, you can see them reappear. Anyone being hon est about the game will admit to that one being there.
on point two, I have logged in to see my character wearing gear That isn't even class appropriate, and having the wrong weapons. My race and face are correct, but their proportions are not. Re-logging a few times causes it to be fixed. I am not sure what causes it, as it's usually showing gear I have never had. It's almost like I am seeing another characters gear.
on point four, some caster robes when equipped still show the player wearing pants, but the calves aren't rendered. You see knees floating above shoes. you have to remove the gear and equip it again, equipping the robe last. unfortunately it resets when you change chunks. Some weapons do not show, and you are swinging an invisible sword. I only mentioned helms as an example of the games lack of readiness for launch... but for the record, i still believe it is a bug... helms aren't in because peoples heads stick out the back... not because helm artwork wasn't done. Removing something because it is bugged and leaving a feature out intentionally are two different issues entirely.
On point 5, I believe the problem occurs when someone begins a harvesting session on a n ode and then quits for some reason, usually being attacked. That node becomes locked, and at least the last time I played, /endharvest did not help... This becomes more of a problem when you consider how the nodes spawn. they are linked to other nodes and one will not appear until its counterpart is harvested, preventing farming the same node over and over. So it is always more than one node which is affected.
If you have not seen a single chunk crash since launch, you are pretty lucky. They are certainly less frequent than in beta, but I know it isn't just me. There is always discussion about the chunk going down before it does. The area where it was worst for me was near the vault of heroes. Obviously chunk crashes will only be apparent if you are in one of the affected chunks. I have seen several posts mentioning them on here, and not just by people who are unhappy with the game.
I agree that a lot of people will exaggerate the problems based on any number of reasons for disliking the game... but saying there are no bugs would be silly, right? I personally don't have any issues with game mechanics. I think it was nowhere near ready for launch, but as far as game-play goes.. i am fine. If it ran better, I would be playing it now.
This game is poo. My rating is a honest 1 I dont like soe and the fact that I get terrible graphs from this one. My pc runs wow pretty well though
This one of the most dumbs things i read here couldn't resist lol.
I never played VG so i didn't vote so you can't acuse me of being vanboi, one thing i'm pretty sure, that your comp can run WOW, well ya, any crappy comp can run wow, about VG dunno if 8.2 is to much or not, but about WOW i can tell that don't deserve 8.1, horrible graphics, horrible UI.
I happened to notice as Vanguard starts to move down from top game how there are some suspect accounts. I know we've heard it all before but I had to voice it. An account named RPG_Ash gives the comment "Utter rubbish" as his comment on the Vanguard vote meter so I had to look into it. The guys account was started today February 9th, he has exactly 10 posts which all consist of between 2 and 10 words. In case you didnt know you have to make 10 posts so that you can vote in the ratings. I don't mind people voting badly for Vanguard because they don't like it. Hey, not every game is everyones cup of tea, but to make alternate accounts to falsely bring down Vanguards score now that is just so insane. RPG_Ash, whoever you are, you are a sad little monkey, and so is anyone else who would make alternate accounts just to vote either negatively or positively to change a games rating. Truly pathetic!
I wish you had amde the same post when it was still on top and people were making fake id's to give it 10... the moment it slips down the ladder you start your whining. A typical Vanboy action.
TRULY PATHETIC. Now now...you were just talking in the other thread how the original post was talking about the game (in this case the forum) and how the first thing that happened was people personally attacking the OP for saying something they didn't agree with. Now you come in here and say he's whining and call him a vanboy? Irony.
Maybe you need to read properly AGAIN. In the other post the OP was whinning about game not any player. But here OP is accusing PEOPLE for making fake accounts to give it lower ratings. See the difference? maybe not. So yeah its a really patheitc thing to do. I didn't know for Vanboys to really believe in there beloved Vanguard they need it on top all the time.
The real issue is that normally there would be an equal effect, with people signing up to bash, and poeple signing up to praise. However, in this case, with all of the controversy over the changes is design in the game, there are dedicated fans who have been community members signing up to attempt to bring the game down. At the end of the day, there's always going to be people really want to impose their will and their opinion on everyone else.
One just has to ask how much one cares about whether or not Vanguard is on the frontpage of mmorpg.com.
GASP vangaurd NOT #1 on the list OMFG I cry conspiracy.
You guys are hilarious, last week there were numerous posts about how awsume vangaurd was and yall were squaking up a storm that your game was #1 on the list. Now that it isnt #1 you whine worse than the whiners.
I only have one account here and i certainly would not waste my time to make another account just to give vangaurd another crappy review.
However you guys that try to pass this game off as the best MMO ever with the best release ever just to con poor unsuspecting customers into buying this unfinished MMO are a laughing stock. The pay your monthly sub and stfu crowd is getting expossed.
Now go kill 10 foxs and stfu please.
Cal
I hope nobody ever mistakes you for "someone who knows what they're talking about"
How about if I make lots of accounts and give 5's across the board to balance out all the people that went all 1's and 10's?
That would be assuming the actual mean score of the mmorpg.com community is 5 If it were to be above 5 you would be supporting the people who put it at 1...
Assuming the actual mean score is 8, which is generous to those who dislike vanguard as its lower than its current score:
10-8=2
8-1= 7
10 is closer to 8 than 1 is, so it takes a lot more 10 votes to equal a single 1 vote. I doubt there are that many people voting it up who havent played it anyways... Why would someone vote it up? Because they like SoE? Most people vote it without playing it because they hate SoE... And lets face it, hardly any one likes SoE, so no ones going to vote it up, unless they heard it was sorta like EQ1 and they liked EQ1.
Somehow I thought that mmorpg.com would be mature enough to not to do something as childish as making fake accounts and giving some game all 1's... Seems that I was wrong again
"I actually cook my meat with nothing but my burning hatred for vegetables"
It happens. The WoW fanbois are just so used to games handing them everything on a silver platter that they have to trash anything new or challenging.
Right. Because the only people who could possibly have created fake accounts are WoW players.
Honestly, you guys need to give the WoW hatred a rest. It's getting old, and has long passed the point of ridiculous. Contrary to popular belief, there isn't some sort of widespread conspiracy out to "get" Vanguard. The game will either succeed or fail entirely on its own, just like every other game out there.
I think that comment comes from WOW having the largest playerbase and alot of people reference WoW in they reviews. I have played WoW and if that is what you are after then great . But that is not what Vanguard is about, and IMHO I can never see VG hitting those subscription numbers due to the complexity of the game, the complexity is a plus to me. I rated VG 7.8 and WoW 6.9 respectfully overall. When you have an avenue for children to manipulate ratings it is going to be hard to use it as a true rating.
IMHO, all reviews good or bad should end with two things
1.) IMHO , it is an opinion either way.
2.) Try it for yourself if this game is your genre.
It would be imposible to truely get a feel for any game without playing it. Any review that says "wow this is the best game ever" or " wow this is a piece of crap, dont waste your time" just get basicly skipped. If is childish to rant or rave over a game just to keep people from playing or to try and pad the numbers. Bottom line with VG, it takes a very decent PC to run, once I got passed the lag by adjusting my settings acordingly, it is a great game, currently not the best ever, but it has abunch of upside and as you level you see more and more of the games features.
Those words are from a lvl 9 bard and 51 diplomacy skill.
well i gave the game a 6.5 because its overall not that good to many bugs and such and you have to have a top end gaming computer to play it which doesnt apply to the larger fan base i do have a good computer but even when i tried playing it i was getting lagg this will just be another game with some fanboys but its way over hyped and isnt bringing anything new to mmorpg's

Elite, on the lag issues. I set graphics to highest preformance and resolution at 1024-768. Those to things made my FPS go from 9-10 to around 25 in combat and 40-50 in buildings. It really changed my view of the game when I could move and play without abunch of lag. And once I hit lvl 8 I got my first chain spell, combat really takes some turns then. The bugs are here, but the game is only in its frist month. If you like complexity and the D&D genre, IMHO it is worth sticking it out. We do differ on the furture of this game, I think it will end up having a very nice playerbase, it just offers so much. But the preformance is the main complaint I see. Statements like the one mark in red is spawned by the "getting lag" comment. If you liked EQ , then VG should tickle your fancy, again IMHO.
5 years EQ, 3 years SWG, 1 year COH/COV, 3 months WoW and 1 month EVE. I seem to hang with games that have harder goals for a longer period of time. Again VG isnt for everyone, but if preformance is the main factor, there are ways to make that better. But if the gameplay isnt your style then fine, there are alot of MMO's out there. And I am sure you can fine one you like. But, I ask people to please quit tring to discourage people from tring and making there own opinion.

I find it amusing that it took a game like Vanguard to come out to get the haters motivated enough to finally knock Eve off its top rank by ranking other games higher than Eve and VG.
but honestly im pretty much in agreeance with the polls as they sit now. with the exception of guild wars anyway. the diplomacy system in VG offers more than the combat system in GW. not sure why people rate that game so highly.

Seriously though, how insecure can you get, to come up with these kind of conspiracy theories? )

its not a theory. i do it myself
one way to elevate something is to reduce something else. If you havnt figured out how these polls work, well thats pretty much how it goes.
...besides.. what does my insecurity have to do with that subject?

I never thought polls work that way, you see us VG nay sayers are stupid this way, it pairs well with our lack of English knowledge and unconditional love for WoW, as many have put it.
And on the insecurity part, well, if it isn't obvious, then I won't bother to introduce the finer parts of the human psychology to you... Guess us VG nay sayers are lazy scums living on our mother's money as well, as many put it.

on point one, they don't run away, the fall in to the ground and can still damage you, but you get "cant see target".
-----Zero Punctuation Eve Online Review-----
I never played VG so i didn't vote so you can't acuse me of being vanboi, one thing i'm pretty sure, that your comp can run WOW, well ya, any crappy comp can run wow, about VG dunno if 8.2 is to much or not, but about WOW i can tell that don't deserve 8.1, horrible graphics, horrible UI.
I didn't know for Vanboys to really believe in there beloved Vanguard they need it on top all the time.
.............
One just has to ask how much one cares about whether or not Vanguard is on the frontpage of mmorpg.com.

"I actually cook my meat with nothing but my burning hatred for vegetables"

/AgreeI find it amusing that it took a game like Vanguard to come out to get the haters motivated enough to finally knock Eve off its top rank by ranking other games higher than Eve and VG.
but honestly im pretty much in agreeance with the polls as they sit now. with the exception of guild wars anyway. the diplomacy system in VG offers more than the combat system in GW. not sure why people rate that game so highly.

its not a theory. i do it myself
one way to elevate something is to reduce something else. If you havnt figured out how these polls work, well thats pretty much how it goes.
...besides.. what does my insecurity have to do with that subject?

I never thought polls work that way, you see us VG nay sayers are stupid this way, it pairs well with our lack of English knowledge and unconditional love for WoW, as many have put it.And on the insecurity part, well, if it isn't obvious, then I won't bother to introduce the finer parts of the human psychology to you... Guess us VG nay sayers are lazy scums living on our mother's money as well, as many put it.
