bah WoW is a great game...it is very fun to play, even tho after 2 years and leveling a bunch of lv 60+ charracter, it get boring but it happen to every games, you cant play one single game forever...
the answer is plain and simple...WoW sucks. nothing more. nothing less. those who play wow play it as their first mmo ever. so they dont know better.
Great troll post.
The reason WoW is sucessful is because first off its a great game, population, sales records, reviews (90%+) and numerous GOTY awards proves that. If WoW was not a good game its player base would not still be growning 2 years after release.
The 2nd reason is simple, theres nothing better, VG flopped so the only hope this year is LOTRO and WAR, both of which should do well, cant speak for WAR right now but LOTRO is well polished, plays similar to WoW (not a bad thing) and has the IP to support it, and from my short time in the LOTRO beta its a good fun game I im thinking of switching from WoW to LOTRO.
Personally I don't hate WoW at all, but I do find it frustrating that they could make the game so much better than it is, but choose not to.
Many games have good ideas, but fail to implement them becasuse they cannot afford to commit the dev time to implementation. Blizzard on the other hand should at least on paper have ample resources, yet they still do not add the depth and options that many players have asked for over quite a while - sure many are not compatible with their game, given the scripted terrain free-standing player housing simply would not work in WoW etc. But things like 5 level band battlegrounds, more maps for battlegrounds, and a wider revive radius to reduce corpse-camping on PvP servers are really not that hard. They also seemed to overlook that adding 10 levels was a gift to griefers, who shifted effectively from unlikely to be hurt to invulnerable. The content in WoW is not so huge that you can really afford to have places like Point Refuge taken out of play for an hour for many customers by one Horde player camping it to try to get a drop off the single high level NPC there. Level 70's do not patrol the roads in some romantic fashion on PvP servers, they are off raiding to get the l33t items to be on a par with those who already have. I cannot imagine how WoW is going to be fun once the cap goes to 80 and they make an Alliance race flavour of the month... cancel all of your level 70 gear it's grey, get back out there and raid ... again.
And for the record, yes WoW has the worst community I've come across in many years (DDO doesn't count for me, it seemed to not have a community at all due to "instanced-everything"). The things people say in the trade channel can be simply disgusting, this game does not deserve a teen rating in my opinion. Sure you can report people for various things, but given where the community on the server was at there really was no point: I quit instead. WoW needed to have something like the old in-game Counsellors from UO to step out from the shadows now and then and publicly warn someone, just to let everyone know they were actually there and watching. My impression is that WoW's CS people are good, but things have to be really bad for them to get back to you any time soon, and they certainly have no in-game presence to reinforce the baseline of community standards.

Untill a game comes along that can compete with WoW, theres no point in blizzard potentialy making an NGE expansion for WoW and killing it.... why fix what is not broken.
Blizz will add new stuff but right now nothing is pushing them to do it at a fast pace as theres no competition and subscription numbers are insane... If your in a race you'll run faster if some 1 is closing the gap on you, but if the pack is way back theres no point in running faster becaase you'll still win.
And for the record, yes WoW has the worst community I've come across in many years (DDO doesn't count for me, it seemed to not have a community at all due to "instanced-everything"). Comunity is what you make of it, its a very personal thing, some ppl have no sense of humor and right up their ass, some more sensative than others... so a little joke in General chat can send them crazy on these forums, but also WoW is a very active game, put 2 ppl in a room (Eq2/VG/SWG) and they'll be nice to each other, put 200 people in a room (WoW) and all shite will break lose.
If you are one of 12,000 players like AC your voice and concerns are heard.
If you are one of 120,000 like EQ you might get heard.
if you are one of 1,200,000 like WOW you don't matter.
But I do't wan't nothing you says.. well
what about back packs that look like animal x?
what about housing?
what about customizabl pets?
what about dye-able armor?
what about x?
what about y?
it doesn't matter because there is 1.1 million guppies that will eat whatever blizzard gives to them
becuase they don't know any better.
Blizzard is 300 pound gorrilla because of all the new people they brought into the game but
it is those same numbers (7 million subscribers x $15.00/month = $105 million per month)
that make them not want to change anything.
You think that the new expansion made the elite armor from the mainland obselete by accident?
no no.. its not. they will now sell 7 million copies @ $50 ($350 million for those keeping track) of
the expansion because if your going to play WOW you need those new LEET items to keep up with
the Wangs next door.
Hey but in the end its your money and your fun.. (i canceled my account last year and won't be back).
Your a baby wow is great if you don';t like it play VG or somethingelse. If they had not made better armor for BC why would i buy it??? what for really? i don't get anything new. dam you confuse me what do you want out of a game other than fun??
well that's the sad truth. sometimes big companies really don't care about small players like us..it's all about the money to them. we are like a little spec in a big WOW "universe". that's the sad truth we all have to go along..
I'm just curious. Not starting a flame thread or any arguments...I have played WoW and in my opinion its not as bad as people think. It's not perfect but what game is? I'm just wondering if anyone opened their mind to WoW and tried to see it as a good game? When i played i had alot of fun, but i never reached 60. So really my opinion isnt as important right now. Since i havent experienced the full content and length of the game. Thinking about rejoining because quite a few friends of mine play. Yeah its pretty simple getting levels, pretty fast, but if it was really slow would that not become a complaint as well? I think its a fun game and people don't give it a chance because of the negative comments others make. Those are my two cents, im looking forward to non-assy replies.

Its fairly simple....you have 8 million people who play WOW. Take a % out of that like any othe rmmo that hate it. Being that it has over 8 million active players and even more who have played and quit....its bound to have a huge amount of people who do not like it. But % wise its pretty much like any other game.
Its one of the most popular MMORPGS in the world so everyone things its cool to be different by saying its bad. Its a great game up to lvl 60 and then it goes so far downhill.

Pre-BC I had 4 level 60's, I leveled two to 70. I wanted a mage so I decided to start from level 1. I couldn't do it, stopped at 46 because the quests are ALL THE SAME.
Personally I don't hate WoW at all, but I do find it frustrating that they could make the game so much better than it is, but choose not to.

I liked this post a lot.
Other stuff that turned me off: PvP that rewards time spent rather than player abilities (due to the gear-centric philosophy), an expansion that is pretty much mandatory... The game just didn't turn into what I was looking for.
If you hate WoW then you are probably spending to much of your game time in it .Try some other games like EVE or Entropia Universe just for a different scenery ,I bet after some time you wil get back into WoW and release how good the game really is.
the answer is plain and simple...WoW sucks. nothing more. nothing less. those who play wow play it as their first mmo ever. so they dont know better.
that is your own opinion, well in my view WOW is a good game. i mean compared to other MMO that when you maxed all you can do is to PvP. i've tried guild wars which is also a good game but nothing compared to WOW. but this is just my opinion
people hate WoW because they got addicted to it and then found out they wasted so much time on a few purple pixels....they hate is just the feeling they want something similar to WoW but at the same time they don't want to get addicted again.

even if they go for another game, the "addiction" would just come back! i mean, it's not the game to blame if you are addicted to it. you can always walk away from it if you'd just choose to.
honestly, after forcing myself to play with the wife again, post-bc... this game is just so mind numbingly boring, that i don't think i can last the whole 30 days of my sub. kill 30 of this times 6 quests, to get to the elite quests, to get to the uber killing quest... o, or maybe i can kill 15warrior/15mage ogres, then get the uber quest to kill 25warrior/25mage ogres.... what the???
boring
boring
boring.
oh look, here's a quest that's different. jump on this trampoline and somehow click on the bird's nest as you soar 100 feet into the air. i finally gave up, read that you should get on a fast ride and just jump off the hill (with the slowfall buff still in place from the trampoline). i watched several other people try it. after 10-20 tries for like 4 people, i don't see how this quest is actually fun. it would've been a nice aside/change of pace; but as is, it's just sort of stupid.
all these people saying "oh bc is fun, it's great, it's brought life back into wow". sure, if all you want to do is level and grind kills and you consider THAT to be fun; then heck yeah! this game is great!
sorry, boring.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
I just flew on to that. So much fun to watch other people bouncing.
Did you go onthe bombing run in Hellfire Canyon or whatever the BC entry zone is called? That's a good little mission and a break from the norm.
There are a few possession missions too, where you take control of monsters, hamsters, submarines or giant robots. Again a welcome break.
Those Nesquik Safari missions were an unwelcome return. I play a defensive warrior, I do sod all damage. I really abhor kill missions, it takes me about a minute per kill my dps is so tiny.
Wow= Lineage 2 + USA + Marketing + World of a RTS game + Marketing + simple game + marketing... you got all this and multiply with more marketing marketing marketing marketing! They put 1kk$ for the game, 1kk copying games and 98$ doing lot of marketing, selling something old like it is new...
I dont hate it, I hate the marketing it have, there are lot of games good as it and loot more better than, but, they sold the like if its the first mmorpg in the world!
I don't necessarily hate WoW, I hate forced grinding and I HATE forced raiding. In order to be anything close to on par with the crowd in WoW you need to raid and get all the "uber" loot. Eff that crap man, all I want is some entertaining things to do post level cap.
And what ever happened to the Hero classes we were promised, or the mini games in taverns we were promised?

if you think that way then MMO is jsut not the kind og games for ya, seriously ,WoW had the least grinding among all the MMO out there, its quest are so much better too... try play some Korean MMO and u will see what real grinding is... in those games, you have to kill 300 of that kind of mob in a quest... u only have to kill 30 and u complain...

I have to agree with you man! I played MU online before and dang! It's so hard to lvl. i have to spend at least a week before leveling up! try that and know for yourself how lucky you are to only kill 30 mobs.

So, what if I'm 1 in 1,000 like in Auto Assault? If I ask, will they bark like a dog?
Seriously, even in a game as small as AA, it is absolutely impossible to please everyone. In fact, as is evident in every "suggestion" forum I've ever read, game companies would be morons to even respond to the vast majority. I don't play WoW anymore, haven't for over a year, but the game is somewhat fun, even if the graphs are a bit cartooney for my liking.
Let me put it simply. If you had 2 million subscribers paying you $15/month, and 6 million paying you $1/month, would you make any changes? It's obvious they're doing something right (based on the current market of users) or they wouldn't have gross revenues of nearly $40 million/month.
In response to the OP, well, there will always be hatred for the one who's the best. Let me provide a couple of "real-world" examples:
The Yankees
The Cowboys (when they were good )
The Lakers/Celtics
Dell Computers
U.S.A. (no offense rest of the world, just making a statement based on economics...GDP)
Why? Usually, it's just jealousy, and the overriding desire to cheer for the underdog.

This was very well-written and is the truth. WoW is a lot of fun if you enjoy questing, and a lot of boring if you don't enjoy questing. The game has almost no grind, and has a huge amount of armor/weapons to choose from. That is until you get to max level.
I hated WoW for a long time just because of how fast it took off, and because I chose to buy EQ2 on release instead of WoW. (had more friends playing EQ2 than WoW)
Now finally I tried playing the game about a month ago, and I found that the questing is a lot of fun, the gameplay is easy to pick up and easy to put down. And the game is very casual.
I haven't reached max level, and I'm sure as soon as I do, I'll get bored quickly, but it's fun right now.
