    if anything is gona become bigger than wow it'll be aoc anyhow, not saying it will
    WRONG! if AoC does become rated M, it will have a smaller but more mature player base...think about it, do you think the kiddies that invaded WoW have parents that will let them play an M rated AoC? at the age most of those kiddies are, i had to sneak playing Halo at friends houses to just to be able to play an M rated game (now it doesn't matter, seeing as i own Half-Life 2, Fable, and yada yada)

    I think most players quiting WoW or what ever going to WAR Tabula Rasa and AoC will agree with me.



    We really don't care if WoW is dying or not and we don't care if the WoW players come over to WAR,AoC, TR Why would we want the vast majority of the immature players that are little whining brats.

    They need to start making more rated m games to get the kiddies out of games online and force them back to counsol games ..... We need to control these kiddies who ruin games online like they did to wow and others .... plus need to stop gold sellers and account sellers also i hope in the future! This is why i play eq 2 mature community we actually shun the kiddies who misbehave and we dont tollerate gold sellers or account sellers its a automatic ban .....

    This is true in measuring the "present" health of a MMORPG.  But you have to account for the future trend.

    If MMORPG A has 1M players and a very active low level game, and MMORPG B has 1M players, but most are capped out, then I'd expect MMORPG A to have more players a year down the road.

    I have always said than when the low level game starts to die off, then the MMORPG is going to start dying off.  This website shows scores of games that fit my analogy. 

    And this is the same thing as "customers coming in" and "customers leaving".  You cannot just rely upon "customer count at present" only.

    we need a poll on the WoW forums on what age those kids are...meh...



    i'm talking in beating WoW...people keep saying that the whole WoW player base will magically migrate to AoC...i'm making my point...not MMO players in general but WoW players in general

    One reason i love Asherons call 2 was rated M and little immature kiddies hardly played MMOS cause it was to hard for them till Carebear WoW showed up.

    I believe it is usually between ages 14-17 and ages 25 -30 on average, they have one on these polls once a week always the same age range.

    so mainly i was right? the hmm...well, WoW has a lot of kiddies now, either in age or in online mannerisms...not sure which but...yeah, the player base really won't move to AoC, that's all was saying...maybe half will but half of those that move will probably also keep their WoW accounts active (unlike me, the 14 year old [yes i do have to keep saying this, some people just don't get it])

    Yes I'm sure that a company who's previous MMO capped at roughly 250k subscribers with an IP that is not even half as popular as Warcraft in the pc gaming world will destroy WoW.

    your attempt to prove your point by pointing at the front ratings is laughable at best. We see that WoW is not even on the list while it is by far the most succesfull mmorpg. to date. The "most hyped" games were once dominated by RF Online and D&DO, and neither of those could even lay a hand on WoW's subcriber base.



    So what does this tell us? The ratings on the front page tell us absolutely...Nothing.

    Nothing is going to destroy WoW.  HAve they reached their peak for population?  I think so.  ARe they going to slowly lose population now? Yes I think they will dwindle down over the next 2-3 years.  Will it ever close up?  Not unless Blizzard just decides to shut it down.   The game will be around for a long long time.  2 years from now I doubt it will be the most populated MMO game.  What will?  I have no idea, lol.

    Merging Battlegroups means more realms share the same Arena and Battlegrounds, which has been requested by the players for some time. It does not mean the total population is falling - that would lead to realm merges, not a Battlegroups merge.

    Interesting ... your basing your answer on something not yet completed. When beta is over and the game is official and released and you see wow numbers fall by the thousands fast then come on back and have a chat.. Just remember look at the meters warhammer is the highest being waited on and where is wow on the other chart i see lotr and eq2 interesting ...

    But sure, we should all take the example of this poster. We should all play Everquest 2, a game which is almost identical to WoW and not a "kiddie" game. By the way, why exactly is it a kiddie game? Polls show us that the average WoW players age is 28, so its certainly not a kiddie game in terms of player age. The art style of WAR is exactly the same as WoW, so if WoW's a kiddie game, then so is your beloved WAR.

    I love how everyone argues about how much better every other game is than WoW.  And also how much higher they rank in ratings.  But then we look at the huge amount of players that play WoW and you realize that while there are a lot of people that do hate the game and move to other ones, that amount is higher than the amount of players actually playing most MMORPGs.  And since WoW is still rated pretty good that means that there are more players that like it than hate it.  The lesson... WoW just has too many people playing it to die to a single game.  The series was built up too good and Blizzard has too much of a good reputation for the game to die overnight.  Right now the only company that can put out a new game to take a lot of players from WoW is Blizzard and I doubt that they will be doing that too soon.
