After fridays screenshot leaks there has been increasing amount of people whining they wont allow their kids to play with them if there was topless women running around...

Hello!!!! ...you would let your kid play a game where you can chop off bodyparts from your enemies and where blood and gore is everywhere but if pair of breasts flash by it's an outrage? ...doublestandard much?

I hope these people wont come to europe for family vacation...they would get eternal traumas from our streetcorner ads alone.

I never got it ethier, parents will let their children see people getting their eye's ripped out, people disembowled and even decapiatation but as soon as it comes to some breasts its ZOMG no. Imagine If they had vag jay jays and penors in the game.. people in the US wouldn't even sell it. I never understood people fear of the human body... I blame religion.

Its those Puritanical values the United States was founded on. Some of them die hard. Violence died easy...heh...but sexuality...still a long ways to go. America is the world's number one consumer of porn, totaling in the billions every year. Yet, its still very much a shadow marketplace. So yeah, maybe someday we might get it right here and figure out that seeing some titties isn't nearly as warping to our children as dismemberment.

On a side note, I love that parents are getting outraged over the nudey material. And won't let their kids play. I think its great. Its supposed to be a mature rated game here in the States, and I want mature people playing. I don't want to be stuck in some dungeon getting the party whiped because some 10 year old playing the healer got distracted by the pairs of boobs on the Amazon warriors that just handed us our asses.

Any parent who says "I won't let my child play if there is nudity" should be thankful to Funcom for putting nudity in.

Because if they were going to allow their child to play a MATURE rated game up until they found out about the boobs, maybe those boobs saved their sorry asses from becoming one more incompetant, neglectful, undeserving parent who should be sterilized and forbidden to even discuss children.

Myself (32) and my father (60) both are MMO fans.  Even though we live in different states, whenever we get together we talk about the new and upcoming games.



I think it was roughly a year ago when AoC announced their "Mature" rating due to lots of Blood and gory animations.  The first thing my dad mentioned was "the kids are going to flock to this game", and I think he hit the nail on the head.



Now with the nudity, it adds another draw to teenage kids who always want what they cannot have.  The United States has strict social opinons on nudity, but Funcom is a European based company.  I don't see them completely "covering up" the nudity, but they will probably be forced to add parental options to the EN-US client.



Personally, I am strongly pro-boobs.

Agreed. The double standard we have here in the U.S. is downright silly. Violence is just fine and dandy while nudity is a big no-no. Killing = good while sexuality = bad? No wonder we're so screwed up. God bless breasts in all shapes and all sizes and may they hang free and supple in AoC!

There'll very likely be a large amount of teenagers (mostly due to the violence of the game), but that's not the big problem. If we're lucky, there won't be the 10-15 year old kids who type in caps constantly because they think that's the way to get attention. The nudity is so limited that i doubt there'll be many people who plays the game because of it.

I couldn't agree more with what you wrote. Though I admit I'm disappointed in this thread as I read it expecting pictures of boobs  Just joking But honestly I very much hope for a age restricted mmo. I wont have to put with some 12 year old calling me a noob because I have a life and cant play for 12 hours+ a day (I'm looking at you WoW)

Seeing dismemberment doesn't make me want to kill. But by golly seeing breasts makes me want to screw! I'm not the least bit religious but I would imagine it has something to do with the power to influence behavior.

Well i know being a teenager of 16. I won't play this game just because it has boobs in it, or lots of violence. But because it has a new type of combat system.(So they say).

I also find it funny people get so worked up about violent video games, and nudity in video games, like GTA. When they could easily just not buy the game if they don't like whats in it. Every box has an ESRB label on it.

I'm (32) and a Parent of a 6 year old boy, so far only one M game has made is past the Dad sensor, that was Halo, we both had great fun playing Co-op mode and I was very surprised how much skill very young children have with game like that, most of the other games in the house are Mario games (kartPartyPaper) all great games BTW and I recommend them to anyone, my wife and I play alot of MMO's so he see us play, he wants to join us playing and I'm not against that, but I'm going to give it a while long so he can read the quest and understand them, so he can enjoy them more.

As for the boob thing, hell you see more on TV most days than you see in games, and right now Digi Boobs are just not as crisp as the real thing, if they get to see it on TV (Olivia Munn G4, put some clothes on as a grandparent said) then whats the ruckus about seeing it pixilated, graphic violence is in most movies and so is swearing, watching Back to the Future the other day for the first time in a long time, (as a parent you notice bad word ALOT more) it has swearing, hell most of those movies we watched a kids growing up do, Ghostbusters, Teen Wolf, Legend.

I think we are going crazy to sensor our kids from the stuff we used to see as kids ourselves, we all turned out ok (well most of us did) people just need to take a deep breath and calm down, instead of sheilding our children from stuff, just Stop and explain it to them, their not idiots so why do we treat them so.

Teenage kids are going to be disappointed when they log in for boobies and find out that it's not that big of a deal. If you've seen the captured footage of the succubus ingame, it's nothing really shocking or even pornographic in nature.

Lets no forgot that its all in relation to the Lore and sticking to it. You wont see spaceships and aliens in Guild Wars. You wont see breasts in Vanguard but you will see breasts in Conan lore and have done for 75 years. Hence its in the game!
