You should buygames that are worth your dime. Funcom is a relatively small company, and it needs revenue to continue operating. It's not so financially stable that they can take too many hits before they crumble. The company have only one product for the market in progress and it already a mess. They are other and more interesting mmorpg in development from rival companies. If AOC went out on schedule it would of have been a complete failure.
just curious, and this is for all the people posting along the lines of "well devs see what happened to vg and don't want to repeat that mistake".
before VG, name ONE mmo that was released on time (i.e. the first release date mentioned) and was NOT pushed back repeatedly.
please, and if you find some non-mainstream game, then list ALL the ones you can find and see how many people have heard of, or played, those MMOs.
i honestly doubt VG's downfall has anything at all to do with any mmo getting a pushed-back release date;
HOWEVER, it is an incredibly brilliant way to put a spin on the NORMAL "oh we have to redo crap for another 6-9 months" routine which we see in every mmo.
if a game releases without a hitch and no bugs, then sure, they MAY have taken a look at VG and that could've been the reason. doubtful, but it's possible. so please, keep in mind all this "vg made devs pay attention" crapola when games get released with the same amount of bugs as you've all seen time and again.
lotro may have been released on time, or semi-ontime, but i'm pretty sure you can't attribute their good job to the "vg"ism.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

It's Ironic you ask that question but ummm DAoC. (I'm going to find links and quotes to back this up, but I seem to remember them coming out on time)
I'm taking you saying "release DATE" as being an actual date, not an estimated Quarter by the way.
"Our spreadsheets showed that we had enough money to support exactly 18 months of development starting from January 2000, giving the project a hard end date of September 2001."
The game was actually released on October 9, 2001.
I think that's as close as you'll find to not being pushed back. But yeah, it's very rare to find a game that hasn't been pushed back, and it seems that games are constantly being pushed back lately to the point that it's expected.

Ireckoon from the recent PvP siege video the real reason this game is being delayed is due to Hardware performance issues.
