If the game is fun to play it doesn't really matter if a lot of the appearance and mechanics are the same.  As has been said many times WoW has a lot of the mechanics that older MMOs used before it.  If they build a fun game to play thats all that really matters in the end.

    Short Answer: No, it isn't.

Long Answer: No, it is not.

Longer Answer: No it is not an EXACTLEY copy.

Longest Answer / Real: No, OP, it is not the same engine that World of Warcraft is running on. Both games have their differences, and it very well shows. And sorry, but you're wrong about the graphical side of WAR, they look nothing alike, WAR isn't even cartoony looking one bit. What are you smoking? (pun intended) - Usually people who start these threads, are people who have been in WoWWoWLand a little too long. If you're seeing the graphics as "cartoony," stop playing WoW for a few months, and then look back at WAR. You'll probably notice a difference.

    Dude....

Blizzard took everything that worked from other MMOs and created their own.  They fine tuned everything and thats it.   Blizzard uses Gameworkshop style since they started out... If something is similar to Warhammer IP, it's the WoW (and even Starcraft) IP.

Gameplay wise, i don't see where you get the idea that it's going to be WoW 2.0.

If WAR IS ripping off WoW, I have to say, I personally think they're doing a better job of it than Blizzard at least the scenery and characters I've seen don't look as bland and boring and they've done a better quest system and PvP.

Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.

hmm.. what does WAR have that WoW doesnt?

Ineresting question.. but i think the information that we are looking for will be more readily found if we examine a more important question:

What is abundant in WOW, that Mythic is so kindly leaving out?

    Answer:

The constant application of lubrication to the knees in order to avoid the carpet burns that linger after Big PVE Guilds are finished zipping up their pants.

WAR is a PVP focused game. That is what its bringing to the table. Killing AI monsters is about as fun as flossing with foreskin. So..if you cant see the difference between WOW and WAR.. better better find some time between Raids, Guild Meetings, and DKP Bitch Sessions to go to the store and invest in some Listerine.

    Thank You..

WoW coppied off Warhammer fantasy battle.

    Starcraft copied off Warhammer 40k.

    See a pattern forming here?

Why do these insufferable moronic posts keep popping up.

If you really think that WAR is just a WOW clone then do the WAR fanbase a favor, keep you misinformed comments to yourself and keep playing WOW.  The last thing the WAR communty needs is a bunch of WOWtards coming over and setting up shop, WOW has the worst player communty of any MMO I've played and they can keep it.

Not once have I said I thought it's going to be WoW 2.0... I've stated in another thread the reason WoW works so well is that they blend everything so well together, I understand that much. I just had my concerns based on the videos I watched, but through the course of this thread those concerns have been put to rest.

    I get it...

    What actually happened:

Mythic noticed the success of the Warcraft franchise. It bought the rights for a Warhammer Online IP as it was similar to warcraft and well suited for an MMO. Mythic took a good look at WoW and made a game that is in some ways similar to WoW

What WAR fanbois want to believe:

Blizzard went into a timemachine, traveled to the future and actually ripped of Warhammer Online.

The conspiracy is all around us! But you probly right, it obviously got nothing to do with Gamesworkshop being unhappy with how Climaxs version of a warhammer mmo turned out.

I don't think war is a ripping off  wow, but I do think the animations and gfx are similare to wow (only darker and better off course) but when reading/watching this game makes me think that its more like daoc.

I believe that war is not ripping off wow just because of orcs.. how else should they look? pink.. No they are green. But i must say the dwarfs are similar. Even tho they may look the same different style.

  • GormandYGormandY Member Posts: 411

you have to be crazy to even think that, more like Warcraft copied Warhammer. You have any idea how long Warhammer has been around?

Well, this post topic certainly isn't original, so why should WAR be?  If you took a look you'd find the answers you seek from the hundreds of posts replying to this question previously.

But like others have said... please don't play... we don't need you....
