Well another player gave me some feedback on the subject, he said how about we have a piety stat which prevents the bad selections such as item loss unless you start to fall out of your dieities favor thus lowering your piety score. Would that be exceptable to the average player ?

Mildly curious here. You stated a couple pages back that elves, rangers, rogue types would get a skill that would allow them to boost their dex via xp. My question is, why not have all of the stat boosting skills available to all classes? I'm sure I'm not the only one who goes for wierd character builds. My favorite old school AD&D character was a hammer wielding ranger. Maxed strength, and never touched a bow.
On the subject of vampires as a race, or class unto itself. I think something like being a vampire is something better suited to a sort of prestige class achievable by anyone via a quest. Unless you're going with vampires as something other than undead bloodsuckers, created via transfering of vampires blood to a nonvampire. You could add a couple other prestige classes to counterbalance this out. A vampire hunter prestige class, or whatever.
As to the Blade dancer idea the was brought up, the Elvish Wardancers in Warhammer Fantasy Battle is a perfect example of this. And would be another good canidate for a prestige type class. elf only, of course.

The 10 point system for death sounds quite interesting but id like to make a suggestion, firstly not item loss as everyone already said it just annoys people and nothing good can come from it. However if you make it item loss of loot rather than equipped items it might make it more reasonable. Secondly if your going to have Gold loss then you need to have some kind of bank system so players can deposit their money in-between sessions and not have to worry about losing all of it. In my opinion the best death system iv ever seen is the one in Asherons Call 2 with Vitae that you may want to explore, it works very well and makes a demand for healers to heal vitae when it takes to long to recover by earning experience, you can learn more about it by going to the asherons call website.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Id just like to make my opinions about vampires just because I am a self proclaimed vampire lover, the idea that vampires cannot use weapons and equipment is ridiculous
'Vampires should use claws' im sorry you have vampires confused with werewolfs vampires are essentially human (or whatever the original form of the possessed creature is) a vampire is a reincarnation of the possessed being minus the soul and with increased physical and mental ability and is perfectly capable of being sophisticated intelligent and fitting in with humans in general, they are NOT mindless monsters with claws that rip your innards out vampires dont work that way they are supposed to be mystical violent and dangerous but in a sophisticated way not a mental lunatic way.
Obviously this means you need to balance out them with humans since they have increased stats and can still use equipment, well you have no sunlight for a start (but if you do this you need to supply vampire characters with sewers and underground systems so they can do things during the day) then there is fire weakness (obviously related to magic) then theres also the shunning by most NPC's no trader is going to want to do business with a vampire you want to make it more difficult for them to exist in normal society, maybe make some vampire traders so they can sell loot somewhere. Then there is also the need for blood for this I recommend the same route as morrowind took with werewolves where you need to dispatch and consume one NPC (not mob an NPC in a town or something) to satisfy your bloodlust, if this is not done then you will lose X health for Y amount of time (but will not die only be weakened) obviously this means youll need to create a lot of unnecessary NPC's that may create increased FPS but I think it is worth it just to make the town seem more real anyway.
As an extra weakness there is a slightly less followed belief that vampires are also weak to silver because the first vampire was in fact Judas and he accepted 20 pieces of silver to betray Jesus, though not many people believe this. If you want anymore advise on Vampires or the history surrounding them then email me at Khaineangelus123@hotmail.com
Well its important that you can customize your character. it is always nice to see the things you have equipped. not only armor but gloves ,boots and cloaks. those things are usually forgotten. creating your own items is also nice for some extra skills that all classes can use.
It is also nice to have the option to specialize your class to use a certain type of weapon. if you are a marksman class you might want to focus on using a sling or trowing- knifes or axes rather than a bow. or a monk could specialize on knuckle weapon or using ninchakus. as for trowing knives and axes it would be nice to be able to retrieve the ones that hit your enemy from the corpse.
The ability to repair weapons and armor you have used. And make it look worn on your character. if you come out of battle you could have tears or cracks in your armor after you repair it ,it looks new again.
Giving abilities to pets would be nice to for example a horse or donkey like creature could be trained to ride but could also be used to increase the amount of stuff you can take with you. in other words you could store the items you don't use on your pet.
i like the 10 point death system it a good idea. if you want to do the equipment loss let the item be drooped on the ground so you still have a chance to get it back or a team member could pick it up for you.
here are a few things mostly small details i would really like to se in a mmorpg i hope you can use them

Wellll, I you want to go back to Biblical terms I think and It's a common myth that the first Vampire was wayyy before Judus.. It was actually Cain.. remember he killed his brother with the fork.. here's an exerpt from the bible
Genesis 4:11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth." 13 Cain said to the LORD , "My punishment is more than I can bear. 14 Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me." 15 But the LORD said to him, "Not so; if anyone kills Cain, he will suffer vengeance seven times over." Then the LORD put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him. 16 So Cain went out from the LORD's presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden
Oh and By the way.. Judus betrayed jesus for 30 pieces of silver not 20

20-30 silver same thing :P i never really considered Cain to be the first vampire seeing as hes what the 3-4 person ever (3rd seeing as his brother is now dead) the fact that he is marked so that no man will kill him and that he is banished more or less during the day (though it isnt exactly refered too) suggests to me he received some other for of punishment probably involving immortality. to be honest its all speculation and hypothesising at the end of the day the bible never makes mention of what happens to these people and certaily not of anything resembling vampires. And anyway i beleive less in the bible than i do vampires (which means i seriously do not beleive it) so its more me just laying out some options.

"When you find yourself sinking into Madness, dive"
With regards to the death concept, whereby you have a random chance of a certain outcome each time you die, I think it could work so long as its combined with another factor, such as the character's standing with the gods like whysper is already planning.
I think maybe the number of deaths should be a decider as well - so the first time you die only the least damaging is the 10 options is available - getting ressurected. Then maybe the second time another slightly worse option becomes possible, like losing a small percentage of your gold. The third time there's a chance you lose some experience, and so on. Your character's standing with the gods could determine how likely it is one of the worse possiblities will happen, while the number of deaths would affect how many of the 10 options were available.
That could potentially be a rational for making sure you stuck to your alignment - if you're "signed up" to one of the gods of good you would need to ensure your actions were good to ensure that when you die you don't get kicked while you're down. Likewise if you worship a god of evil make sure you don't get caught helping old ladies get their cats out of trees.
The other thing I'd like to see would be the possibility for someone who's been ressurected many times to risk picking up "hitchikers" on the way back. I had an outline for a single player RPG where one of the risks of ressurecting your allies too many times was that instead of returning their souls to their bodies something else would come back, turning previous friends into possessed demons. Obviously that wouldn't work in an MMORPG because you'd lose your character, but it you could have things follow you back through the tear you leave in the veil. Perhaps the more powerful your character is the more powerful the demon/shade/whatever will be.
Could also give something for paladins to do... the sort of fantasy equivilant of the Ghostbusters.
Looks like there is some great feedback during the last couple days:
I really did not like the claw attack for the vampires and will have them use most of the standard gear but they will pay double the experience since they have some potent abilities already. Who can't resist seeing a powerful vampire dressed in plate wielding a flaming two handed sword
I will stick with the death options and tweak it based on the feedback, those were some good suggestions. Item loss will be reserved as a last option for those who fall out of their gods favor.
Ok another question:
We are going to have remorts: Dragon (3 colors), Angel, Demon, and Balanx. These we be very powerful characters for the players and have permadeath. How should we issue this class ?
Must be deity status plus X amount of experience.
Charge $50.00 or what ever real money to get a remort slot.
Given as world special quest event rewards.
Reward the players who hit 500 hours.
We have other options but what do you think would be fair ?

I don't think you should charge money for special characters this would be unfair to people who dont have a lot of money. I think it would be best to do option 3 or 4. but the quest sould be a hard one to complete.
Ok, here are some things i would like to see in an mmorpg.
Many non combat options, ie: fishing, taming, breeding, herding, farming, tailoring, smithing, acrobatics, juggling, dancing, playing instruments, pick locks, pick pockets, hide, sneak, cooking, carpentry, navigation, mapmaking, etc. Oh and swimming and climbing.
A fun and very customisable crafting system.
A world with interesting places to explore (everquest world was good, daoc and sb world was not).
No creatures should respawn in the same spot repeatedly. I think a few creatures should appear at a random location, and start creating a colony there (if they are smart creatures) in which they gain levels, make their own weapons/armour, and build defences. If they are stupid creatures they should just appear randomly in the area that they inhabit and wander around.
Monsters should only drop what they are carrying, (no snakes dropping a kite shield), if an intelligent monster (like a goblin) wins a fight he should loot you, and then he will equip your weapon instead of his if he thinks your one is better.
I would like to see UOs ghost system implemented again, that is by far (IMO) the best death system of any game.
Owning/customising houses/keeps is a must. Also stealing from players houses is a must as well (but you need to be able to protect your house with locks/traps/guards. Also owning/customising ships would be good.
I would like full PVP, (anyone can attack anyone at any time), with a justice system that includes imprisonment (if you are caught stealing/killing and arrested you will be thrown in jail and that char will be unplayable for a period of time).
If you kill another player you should be able to loot all their items.
I would like to see godly artifacts in the game, they should always be easily identifiable, so if another player sees you walking down the street wearing godly armour (it will glow so you can tell it's really powerful) they may try to attack you and take it. Also there should be 1 of each godly artifact in the world, if you want to get your hands on one of them you will have to kill the player who has it. This will add a lot of Roleplaying IMO as players will battle to collect and hold these artifacts.
Thats all the ides I have right now.
