Hahah thats a good one ^^^ . Go ahead and waste your money, no use in trying to convince someone whos already made up their mind, but look back on this and remember i told you so.
Did you not see the statement released where it said something like this "Raiding will be a big part of endgame. Raids will consist of 24 people (i think it was 24).
Something like that.........so........have fun "pvping". Ill look for the info.
Will players need to raid over and over again to get the best items in the game? Or will players be able to find particular pieces by looking elsewhere?
Thomas: Players will be able to get comparative equipment from different sources. Raiders, crafters, and casual players should all be able to get decent items for their level. The raid instances will be, more or less, the type of loot you’d see from other games.
Does that sound familiar at all? (WoW!) And this is where you post "Its going to be equal! and theres when i post...You really think they can balance that? After all there will be more raiders than pvpers...always is..
How about this one?
Thomas: If you go into raiding, you will get equipment that is good for your class for raiding. If you go into PvP, you will get loot that is good for you in PvP. Each piece obviously carries bonuses with it into each field, but these pieces are specifically made for either PvP or raids.
This is exactly like wow 100%....You raid a little but until you have your full set of gear so you can get +5 to bow...then you pvp for a month.....then an expansion is released....oh no i gotta get a new set of gear in order to compete... so you raid for 3 more months and pvp for another month then uh oh... another set of gear!. they will force you to raid in order to compete. My point is... Raid gear will be better then pvp gear. Pvp gear will get outdated so fast.
I don't even see these two games as competitors. AOC is the only one of the two I would consider playing. I have seen enough boring, Shallow Asian grindfests to know I don't want to play another one. The silly, over the top graphics, 12 foot long swords, silk bikini top armor, all the ballet spin combat moves with flash particle effects in a fuzzy, over-bloomed environment. I think I'll pass. If I ever decide I'd rather spend my time playing with non-English speaking gold farmers, AFK power levelers, gankers and bots, Aion will be at the top of my list.
AoC will be a waste of money just remeber I said that. Now the big games of 08 will be Aion in Asia and WAR in the east. If you want to waste you money on AoC go ahead just come back to these forums in 6 months and remeber all the people who warned you.
Guess people would be thankfull if you guys tried to state why play a game instead of pointing out your prejudices and hatred towards one or another. Unless you've tested the game yourselves all you can talk about is at the looks and features at this moment, but i don't see people interested in knowing that you would play aion cause aoc sucks, or you would play aoc cause aion sucks...guess they want to hear what has attracted you from those games.

Thats simple, If you want something different try Aion, If you want more of the same try AoC.
Im not saying that Aion is better than AoC, im just saying that major mmo companies will try to copy each others success, they only care about taking your money and thats it- With a company that hasnt released a major mmo before, maybe just maybe they will have different stuff in their mmos.
None of em. WAR is my pick. I want PvP. I want to see a whole server doing it , not as a side-game or a small part of the gameplay. But as something that matter every step of the way.
AoC look not too bad but with the latest info i've seen , they are trying to cater to the pve crownd as much as the pvp one. If they invest to much time into the pve raiding/gear gathering aspect , how can the guild vs guild don't suffer? And the crafting just look weak imo. Come on , beside architect it's all rehash . UO , FFXI and WOW had a more complex system. It's a step backward. (WAR didn't released any info about crafting , so it could be even worse... but I doubt they fail so miserably. time will tell)
Aion , i don't know much about. Graphic look good and it has some fairly original ideas ( flying combat) but , i don't know. Just doesnt grab me. Lore is average and flying pvp doesnt sound that good to me. Pvpve only take place in the abyss , limiting pvp to an area only is a failure imo. Classes and races look blend. I guess i've been spoiled by warhammer 25 years old amazing lore and just can't get hook on half-assed settings. Even if they are trying to not make the game a grind , am sure they will use the pvp from lineage ( for the asian audience who loved it) which is just sad.
Assaulting keeps in formations , Collision detection and sacking capital cities. 24 iconic elite classes. A full on world war , where every pvp action you make is toward winning a faction wide fight. That's what I want to play.
Two factions that can't interact with each other outside of PvP
Seperate leveling areas for the two factions
PvP happens in a PvPvE area, where those not interested in PvP can participate in PvE quests/raids to help the war effort
Elves
Can't solo past level 15 atm
Compulsory quests are group only quests
That about sums it up, quite different from each other. I personally am more interested in AoC for the player cities and sieges, but Aion could be interesting if they add some solo content past lvl 15.
Flying (yep, 1 minute of flying, 2 of cooldown, to make it strategical, with skills which can be used only on aerial stance and with vulnerabilities when flying) Two factions that can't interact with each other outside of PvP (true, its complete RvR) Seperate leveling areas for the two factions (true, though the best leveling areas are in the pvp area) PvP happens in a PvPvE area, where those not interested in PvP can participate in PvE quests/raids to help the war effort (true, tho there is pvp also outside that area, duels or random portals connecting faction's worlds) Elves (huh?) Can't solo past level 15 atm (while a beta reporter said so, another one pointed out he leveled solo all the way to 20 on beta (max level released out of 50) with ease) Compulsory quests are group only quests (where did you get this info from? O.o)
That about sums it up, quite different from each other. I personally am more interested in AoC for the player cities and sieges, but Aion could be interesting if they add some solo content past lvl 15.
PvP Player cities PvP resources PvE Player cities Raiding Solo content Group content Mature rated Mounts and mounted combat
Aion

That about sums it up, quite different from each other. I personally am more interested in AoC for the player cities and sieges, but Aion could be interesting if they add some solo content past lvl 15.
there, added a few important things. Also, can't solo past level 15 has not been confirmed yet.
there, added a few important things. Also, can't solo past level 15 has not been confirmed yet.
True, it's not confirmed, but then very little is. It is however an important issue that will decide whether many people will play it or not, so probably the main point out of all those mentioned that needs confirmation on.
I find that completely hard to believe. Too say that you CAN'T solo past 15 is just bs and ill prove it with a video of a ranger soloing a "elite" mob. Also the area the ranger is in is a party/group area :O

my vote is with Aion. NCSoft is directly developing this title just like they did with L2. L2 is an incredible game, but it is only brought down by the extreme grind! NCsoft claims that the grind won't be nearly as bad as L2, and this gives me high hopes of the potential of this game.
While on the other hand AoC looks like it will be a good game in the end, but I don't particularly care for the graphics style. Although I love AO for its immense depth and interesting characters. AoC looks like it can potential have a similar amount of depth, and may grow into a very damn good MMO over time.
There is definately nothing more boring than clicking a monster and tapping your F(x) buttons so aion is gonna suck.
That's encouraging.
There are no F(x) ^^, there are skill chains, party combos, and aerial strategical combat, added to mobs with the highest AI ever seen in a mmorpg (hell, the AI is so worked out that one of the 3 factions is NPC one).
Funny thing when people talk like if they knew what they are talking about.

And AoC is probably gonna have a clunky and crappy combat system.
So my opinion is that both games are gonna suck unless AoC's combat system turns out amazing, but thats unlikely.
No auto attack mate.
And from experience, and several press sites there is nothing clunky about AoC's combat. Its pretty dam fluid
Okay, so the Ranger can solo fine, that's one class what about the rest? The mage would use his whole mana bar to take down one mob then spend the next five minutes regenerating..
I'm not saying it's intended, but at the moment, information from the Korean Closed Beta indicated that more can't solo past 15 than can. It obviously is unconfirmed being a beta leak, but it's an issue that is concerning.
I know age of conan isnt auto attack, did you misunderstand me or is aion gonna have something to make combat slightly interesting?
And to the guy above, skill chains, party combos, and whatever else are trash in my book; your still not doing anything except tapping 1-10 are you.. If a 6 year old can do it I dont mark it as any way revolutionary. As for the AI I dont take some extra enemies attacking the winner to be great AI, I take it as something to be abused and later complained about because they made you lose and thus removed.

Enlighten me with a successful mmorpg where you don't use 1-10 f1-f12 or skill bar at all. I beg you. Or at least set an example with what you'd consider "revolutionary", and then tell me how it failed misserabily.
You can make it rounder, you can make it in another color, you can call it awesomespinningcircle but you won't reinvent the wheel.
And bobfish, that ranger is killing a party area mob (krall) with ease (notice how he gets almost an entire xp bar), mana recovery is way faster than what we are used to also, and there are already 200 quests from level 1-20 with xp/money rewards, at this stage.

Hmm, funcom, AO, bad launch but great recovery, depth.
ncsoft, 30 day wonders, nothing really wrong with there games but not a lot to them either.
I can't say as ncsoft will be getting any more of my money.
Maybe do some research and get a clue about a game before spouting off BS.
AoC is going to be about questing and PVP, and end game PVP Raiding player cities... Siege and giant PVP battle and all that sweetness.
Currently Playing: WoW (somewhat)
Testing: None
Played: WoW, CoV, AL, SWG, VC, EVE, SWToR

TCoS and WAR for me (WOW CLONE!!!1111) though AION looks interesting....so ill pick that for this topic

If I would be forced to pick one of these two, it would definitely be Aion.
