Well, you said you have a 45 Guardian soon to be level 50. Then what? Play an alt? Go back and collect all the deeds? Create a new character and try to get him to "undying" That's why I left the game, I couldn't see an endgame that was interesting to me. And you haven't done much MPVP, you might find it somewhat disappointing. But glad you're having a good time, but IMO EVE is a much better game.
Why Kyleran Dear Boy how could you possibly compare EVE and Lotro , ludicrous absoulutley ludicrous my dear fellow.
... I have a 50/ranked in MP (hero) ... This month will be my last one on Lotro (started on beta 2006). ... Lotro: polished game/Nice. And boring. ... Forget Lotro. This game won't be Lord of the Ring with great battles or MEO. No strategy, not even Role playing. Only a nice polished and small game.
In no way meant to insult you but there's one thing with these type of posts I'll never understand. Here we have a player that played a game since beta in 2006, got a character to level 50 and obviously spend a lot of time in PvMP. Yet he thinks the game is boring, that there's no strategy and no role-playing.
Hell, why did you stay 1 1/2 years in a game that you think is boring?

Yup, gotta agree, always confuses the hell outa me too.
My OPINION onLOTRO: nice try at a more narrative game. Fun for a while, just because it's a different tack. Map and quest system seemed cumbersome. Combat is stilted, NPC animations are incoherent. Environments are gorgeous at first, but curiously non-immersive (NPC's in particular don't seem to "live" in the world), and there's just such a grey palette to a lot of the world. I found it deadening in the long run. the whole pipesmoking, lute playing thing is promisingly reminiscent of aspects of old SWG, but no one really digs into that part enough to make it fly.
Glad it is bringing enjoyment to many people, though.

LOTRO is far from beeing the best MMO around. For example the moral system is a huge failure. No thx - Im not playing instruments in combat. Or even listening to them. To me LOTRO was one of the biggest dissapointment of any MMO I've played. And Im talking of more thand decade of playing MMOs.

There's nothing more but another small wow clone. Even Fror is a dead place (on fr servers)
Lotro won't survive to AION/WAR/WOLTK/SGW etc.
I'm a tolkien's fan completely disppointed. This game isn't for Tolkien's fans , PVPers or RP. This game is a short living game (Between BC to WOLTK). I don't think we'll have Moria etc... on Lotro. This game is a mistake, a dream for AC2 players and fans.
Playing:World of Warcraft. Played:Lord of the Rings Online, Starwars Galaxies. Tried:Starwars the Old Republic, Everquest 2, Guild Wars, Vanguard, Age of Conan, Aion.
I think once they get an expansion out it will be the best MMO available, depending on how the upcoming games come out. It has a great foundation, it just needs more content and some of the more interesting Middle Earth locations opened up (Moria, Rohan, etc)
360...the power to perform and based on after sales...the most games on the market
PS3 ... unique, and still misunderstood...is an acquired taste
Wii ... The system for the families and kids who don't know how to play the big boy games...a system so easy even Grandma can use it...usually does not play in HD, wonky control...sold totally for it's Nintendo name and it's novelty eventually wears off.
The uninformed make for hilarious debaters....how does one effectively counter-point a made up fact. LOL.
I see a lot of people critizing the point that LOTRO is the best overall MMO on the market today. I'm okay with that, if the disagreement is backed up on salient points -- not made up drivel.
Those proffering up these points should (like the candidates) have a fact checking team to make sure their assertions are valid:
-- there is no end game in LOTRO:this is simply not true. Perhaps the game was light in 50th level content at release, but these days, with the additions of Books 9-12 there is quite a bit of content. Reputations, deed systems, a ton of quests and solid PVP with your free people's character.
-- there are no people playing LOTRO:this is simply not true. Lotro is actually the fastest growing MMO right now and will pass the likes of EVE in active subscriptions next month - source http://www.mmogchart.com/Chart2.html
I like healthy debate and I personally believe diversity makes things better. If we all liked the same thing the world would be boring.
I have an active Station subscription (where you get all SOE's games for one price) and of those games (SWG, EQ, EQII, Pirates, Planetside, Vanguard) I like Planetside (CR5, BR20) and EQ2 (30th level Dwarf Templar). The others, for a variety of different reasons, have no appeal to me. I also have an active EVE subscription and love the concept there but feel the actual mechanics of ship control, movement etc are flawed beyond belief.
Therefore, of the MMOs on the market today, I believe WoW and LOTRO are the best products with the right mix of content at all levels and varierty in their gameplay. LOTRO is my personal choice these days simply because my "/played" in WoW is well over 100 days.
I got my guard to 48 and went into the Ettenmoors - what a blast. Two or three more regions like the Ettenmoors and I might never leave free people PVMP
My first games where pvp as well, and then I thought it would be impossible for me to enjoy not killing someone , but behold LotRO is just awesome. Think because every game up to LotRO had absolutely no or little content, like quests, lore as well as some game mechanic as fellowship skills , triggered skills ect. Think what makes lotro the best , is that it is a full "game" meaning it has thousands of quests, hundreds of Epic quests, Thousands of Deeds hundreds of Armor and weapons and a cohesively deep lore base. I love pvp , but I love playing a great"game" as well.
You need to add..."For me" to that last part of your sentence...because for me...it is NOT a great game, for others in this thread it is either a "great" game or NOT a great game"...
The OP started this thread like it was fact...and believe me...this game is too iffy to be stated as "THE BEST"...so many differing viewpoints, and no concensus..
Nope...the thread should have read
"LOTRO is the best MMO in my opinion..."...then given his opinion and moved on...
Why should he state his opinion and move on? We've been trying to get you to to that for some time Openedge1, and you still keep coming back.

Has the game changed much over the last 6 months or so? I played the trial and the only bit of the game I liked was playing as the monsters, but even that got a bit old after a while. Though the quests were actually well written and not just fetch and deliver/kill x monsters.
But, I must say I agree, it is probably the best MMO available at the moment.

No good pvp
No high variety of monsters
No Evil characters to play
No Good Game
Mmmm I think your post mirrors your forum name...... Translated that means " Your talking crap "
Tell me where I'm wrong?
bears and wildlife for 10 levels?
No evil characters to play?
PVP is utterly horrible compared to other titles.
Give examples instead of just "talking crap"

LOTRO is The Wii
