I think its one of the better mmo and is one of the best movie/book translations to a game and i relay think turbine did the best thay possbly could, i never seen such a good book game translation before, so people can say what thay think and i will respect that, but i have an own opinion and i think this game is just a superB translation from the movies and books.
I respect your point of vue.
But don't say this is a perfect book game translation please. This is NOT LOTR, this is only Lotro by turbine.
- no dwarves allies of goblins in LOTR
- no balrog to kill (only by Gandalf and he died)

- orcs army in Fornost "" "" "" ?
- giant spiders everywhere in the world ?

- a dead dragon living (LOL) ?

Actually all of this nitpicking was addressed before and it falls under creative licence. Tolkien foundation seems to be OK with it and I tend to agree.
What does LOTR bring to the table that hasnt already been done? This is as biased as the people screaming the same things about WoW being the best game in the world.
LoTRO was a good game.... if you didnt want to do quality raids. The endgame was terrible, PvMP got old fast. It started off good though, lots of quests , book quests were great.
It beats WoW itself in my opinion but it's a matter game style preferences in the end. I would've picked EVE, as I prefer sandbox style with a learning cliff instead of a game that only has a learning curve.

Besides the retarded looking armor, LoTRO was one of the best times I had in a video game while leveling to the top. However, after I got 50... it became one of the most boring games I've ever played. I only like to focus on one character when I play MMOs, so rolling an alt was out of the question... Was a good 4 months, got my money's worth. If the announcement is an expansion, big whoop... it's not like people didn't expect one. Watch it be some more unheard of Middle Earth areas that are only known to the lore freaks (there's nothing wrong with being a lore freak btw).
Yet, you keep running to the edge over and over again!
And kept dying in a fit of bad UI, hitching and boredom...
Sounds like my experience in EQ2 (along with a ton of other problems).
The only difference is, I don't have to visit the EQ2 forum constantly and post half truths and old information because I dislike the game so much. Most people find the problems with SoE and EQ2 on their own.

Lord of the Rings Online was absolutely the BEST game for someone to be introduced to MMORPGs. Thier tutorial was fantastic, without it I would never have figured out how to play. I still have problems with other games because I'm not as familiar with MMORPGs as the creators of the average game figure I should be - but then I'm the wrong generation and sex to catch on quickly. (53 and female)
Its still one of my personal favs, but I can understand that those that are into PvP, etc wouldn't like it. Thankfully, that wasn't what the game was developed for and that's why it got such high reviews. The Reviewers recognize it as being a non-standard MMORPG and I think, graded it as such.

Yet...according to your signature...you "beta'd" EQ2...and that means you understand the game...how?
I beta'd and played LOTRO, and even returned after each book to see what progress had been made. Basically when it cam to the way the game was initially setup...zero changes...they added things..but, forgot the most important fix...FUN!
Yet...so many others have posted here and in the other threads for LOTRO here stating the same problems I have...crappy animation, bad UI, and more...(boredome being a major sticking point)
So, I still stand by my statement that the OP claiming this is the best MMO is sorely mistaken..

I beta'd EQ2 and played it for almost a year.. until right before the server merges... then I couldn't take it any longer and left. So actually, I do know a thing or two about SoE and EQ2. I don't post much about it because: a) It's been a while since I've played it and b) I would only have negative things to say about my experience.
Yes Openedge, there are others who experience problems with LOTRO... just like in EQ2. I happened to read a current EQ2 post where someone is leaving the game due to performance and this is on a THREE year old game. People complain about all MMO's.. not just EQ2 or LOTRO. No game is perfect for everyone. You just do a good job at making sure as many people know about every little flaw LOTRO has because you dislike it so.
Please highlight in my post where I said people who do not like the game should not post here.
Of course not everyone will agree that LOTRO is the best MMO today.... just like many people will disagree that EQ2 is the best MMO today. It's all in what you like.
What's boring to you might be fun to someone else. You consider LOTRO boring, and I consider EQ2 boring. The big difference is I respect that people will like and play EQ2 while you feel the need to spread your hate of LOTRO to as many people as possible.
Shame really.

I also never claim EQ2 is the best MMO ever made. I think it is a good MMO, and I enjoy it...but I also have never said EQ2 is the end all be all of MMO's..
It is impressive what has been done with EQ2 in the last two years (since you have NOT been back there)...meanwhile games like WoW stagnate, and LOTRO copies them.
As another example....I also do not like Tabula Rasa...but, I think they at least made strides to innovate somewhere with their semi realtime combat...there is no innovation in LOTRO...and that is why it is NOT the best MMO either.
As to why I continue here, is to make sure the wool is not pulled over the eyes of those who do not know better by those who think LOTRO is a god send. It is not...the IP was ruined by Turbine and turned into a mediocre MMO...and because magazines decided to play the first 10 or 15 levels and declared the game a winner with their big scores are also disillusioned over what makes a good MMO....longevity..again LOTRO does not have this either (as can be seen by the many posts of those who say they left at level 30...just like I did)...and THAT is why it is not the best MMO.
Now...as to your sig...maybe you should change it then...as it leads someone to believe they only "beta'd" EQ2...and has not tried it recently...unlike myself, who always keeps abreast of the changes in LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, Hellgate:London, Vanguard, etc.....the changes to LOTRO? they are minor and cosmetic at this point, and have not addressed the bigger issues that will leave LOTRO like AC2 after the newer titles arrive...

Why is it that you can't seem to get it through your head "Different strokes for different folks?" Believe it or not a well informed gamer might actually prefer LoTRO to EQ II . . . .
I'm playing EQ II right now. Have been spliting my time with it and LoTRO for about two months. Have 4 characters into the mid 20s, all with crafting into teir III. They are also all pretty fabulously wealthy and well geared for their level, it's been quite easy to bring in gold. I would say I more than gave it a chance.
EQ II has indeed gotten a lot better in the last two years, but I would still say to my personal tastes LoTRO is a better game. I'm letting my sub run out to EQ II at the end of the month.
There are some things I like about EQ II and some I hate. Regardless you are not going to see me over at the EQ II forums taking a dump in every thread their because I got bored with EQ II after a couple of months. I have posted there a few times since I've been playing, but only in an attempt to be informative . . .not to push my personal tastes with the fervor of a religious zealot.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
As to why I continue here, is to make sure the wool is not pulled over the eyes of those who do not know better by those who think LOTRO is a god send.
LOL!!!
You gotta feel sorry for the chap. As Yeebo said, it should not be such an impossible task to realize that different people like different things. OE1 still believes that his preference (of games), is the Only One True Opinion (ie:a FACT), and everyone else who likes different things, is somehow WRONG. (because of that stupid wool thingy over our eyes.)
I don't think I've seen crusades more desperate, but I'm sure I've never seen any longer ones

Sorry but nothing is realy copyed from EQ2, EQ2 was a terrble game at lanch, (but im sure you were somewere els back then) and took away all credibilty for me, Lotro instead was amzingly good at lanch, infact it was the best mmo lanches ever made, and quality that whats makes or breaks a game for me.

It will never be the best MMO...sorry!

See you in the dream..
