hi, I am in the closed beta and we just had a 650mb patch. all the stuttering is now gone, and my fps seems to almost doubled. I think the game fully supports multiple cores now because I saw cpu usage go to 100%.
good job funcom.

Epic fail
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
Uhm. I was thinking of starting a topic similar to this, but I changed my mind because of the NDA. There was just a patch right now, I did not notice the size but it was fairly big. There were very noticeable improvements with performance, loading times and graphics. Yes, graphics. They improved quality of textures and lighting, looks and plays alot better now. Very very pleased.
Im guessing the guy who started this post feared getting banned for breaking NDA, (if he did). Anyway I do not care if I get banned or not.
in OB and such my stuff always said 100% for the cores didn't matter if I was using 1 or 2 . I think the thing was it was utilizing the other core and it was having some problems with duel core processors. I had a horrible time after I went back to one core and went to full screen instead of windowed I got good FPS again but still it took the game maybe 20-25 mins to crash and would require me to boot the game back up again.
You risked geting banned from MMORPG.com (they know your IP regardless) and booted from BETA for breaking the NDA (MMORPG.com will assume you are violating the NDA) to share that with us.
Thank you.
"Don't corpse-camp that idea. Its never gonna rez"
Bladezz (The Guild)
banned from where and from what? All I did was stating that there was a 650mb patch which really decreased loading times, increased perfomanced and got rid of the stuterring. I did notice graphics were slightly improved, specially the fog and lightning.

Quite frightening that ppl who are this active on the forum behave like this before verifying if it's true or nog. Epic fail to you Shannia.
Epic fail
How? Just cause he has one post doesn't mean it didn't happen, i mean hell it better because if they didn't patch it to use multiple cores all hell would break loose. I bet there will be people replying that the patch indeed did happen.
Now the reality of the closed beta patch....
Results so far are all over the board, pretty much see the poll yesterday about performance and that is about how it is, just people switched catergories:
1. A person that had great performance now has bad performance.
2. A person who har bad performance now has good performance.
3. The stayed the same.
Now on some finer details:
1. Looks like the uncapped FPS, some see over 100 FPS in some places.
2. Several are getting smoother game play but their FPS have been cut in half.
3. 1.6 gigs in size.
4. Less gfx options, for example DX10 is no longer in.
5. Some reports of a few other noticeable changes outside of performance but not too much on that yet.
My Conclusion:
They have an engine that seems to run some systems well and not others, but not a enginge that is consistent to all systems. This will be frustrating to deal with imo.
funcom...is that you?

Actually, as I understand it, CB testers are allowed to speak about up to level 13... which covers performance.Also. I just logged out from playing the CB moments ago and yes there was a patch and yes it seems to have improved things for a lot of CB testers. The general chat was full of people talking about how much better it was running. Take that for what it's worth.

I'm not to sure how much of the NDA they broke thou. If ya read the thing about the open beta they already said they where working on the patch to improve everything the OP said. Just cuase there are some idoits here who think the "IGN Open Beata" is the retail version, doesnt make it so. I'm sure 150 people in an office can get alot done in a months time.....
Can't wait till release I'll see you buggers on the 17th (Pre-order head start)
me thinks stradden is a fanbois...all his posts are always positive!
to Jon Wood: But why not just tell the whole story? There is a post approaching 100 posts that are each persons first impressions of it. And they are mixed, I will grant you that it's probably 60-40 in to the good side. But it is also fact (unless they are lying) some have gone forward and some have gone backwards.
Not that this is news to me, but it also shows that Closed Beta players were having darn near the same exact issues as Open. Which that has been twisted so many ways of Sunday it was impossible to even hold a conversation on it.
I like the calling it how it's reported. News at 11.
Since I can speak about perfomance, before the patch I was getting around 25-30 fps with everything turned on, 4x aa and 1920x1200. The stalling was really bad though.
Now the stalling is gone, and I seem to have gained about 10 fps. Graphics seems to be a bit better, but they made the default gamma a little darker so you will have to turn it a bit up. Everything load much faster, including once you load the game. I hated waiitng for npcs to load, now its much better.
I'd suggest taking a break until the patch hits ob. It really does feel like a new game.
Hmmm. This topic is about a patch that was applied to CB within the last hour or so. And the improvements are very real. Im sorry if you find this hard to accept.
The closed beta players got a patch today that solved a lot of issues. That's what this thread was about.
I have nothing to gain by lying to you. I'm just reporting it. This is my job.

Fair enough overall, but also then mention that there are a lot of people that went from 60 to 20's in FPS, not half but 30% or so. What I'm starting to piece together here is this... The lower end systems maybe taking a hit here which the high-end systems that were under-performing are now living up to their potential. Pretty interesting, what in may tell us is how they programmed the shaders before actually benifited older system and updating their code to work with newer cards, that method actually hurts older one's. I will admit this theory is a bit premature, but there is some semblence of that going on.
Not sure who you are quoting. But if it were me please understand what I am saying, unless others are lying the results have been mixed, quite similar to what we saw prior to this patch with many having zero problems and many having problems. It's just that it's switched around a bit. IMO that is reporting what is going on and not making news nor slanting to either side.
The thing that is good to hear is that they are narrowing down the main problem with the game (Performance), and are getting closer with every patch.
its as if people dont want this to do well
someone say the game has improved people dont belive them.....
Haha, it's funny listening to the doomsayers....let them stay in Warhammer (which is garbage) or WoW.
and this is worthy of post nb 100!
Just SHUT UP you sound like a 5year old who wants to run to the teacher and tell on them
