its as if people dont want this to do well someone say the game has improved people dont belive them.....
Because if it did well my guild mates would all leave me alone in shadowbane, I've kept them here by brainwashing them into believing Darkfall will be out soon. However if AoC wasn't a turd like everyother MMORPG they'd leave me and my mummy won't pay for my subscription fee,
WHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! IT'S NOT FAIR, WHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
BTW I reckon that's actually correct for 25% of haters, just my opinion though
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"
I seriously don't see why "anyone" would be upset over this great news. At least it means that Funcom has gotten a good hold on the issues, and obviously are making great progress in correcting them.
Perhaps what they stated their goals were in the Beta test using an older client were actually true then? It sure looks like it to me.
I'm sure the many haters will sit back and think of new excuses to put the game down though, but performance may ultimately not be one the the reasons.
Also, obviously from some posts there are some systems experiencing worse performance but, this is still great news. I believe Funcom now has a handle on the performance issues.
Originally posted by Stradden Originally posted by HorrorScope to Jon Wood: But why not just tell the whole story? There is a post approaching 100 posts that are each persons first impressions of it. And they are mixed, I will grant you that it's probably 60-40 in to the good side. But it is also fact (unless they are lying) some have gone forward and some have gone backwards. Not that this is news to me, but it also shows that Closed Beta players were having darn near the same exact issues as Open. Which that has been twisted so many ways of Sunday it was impossible to even hold a conversation on it. I like the calling it how it's reported. News at 11.
Yes, we have addressed these issues here at MMORPG.com over the last two weeks, complete with interviews. In fact, "telling it like it is" is pretty much what I've been doing. Personally, my system has been running the game very well with few to no problems at all. The closed beta players got a patch today that solved a lot of issues. That's what this thread was about. I have nothing to gain by lying to you. I'm just reporting it. This is my job.
Does your computer have a standard 7200RPM HDD where the client is installed? I only ask because in the OB the largest issue for me besides a random lockup is the load times. I've defragged post-install and all, but some zones just take a hell of a long time to load (especially the little last bit of the progress bar). So, I have to ask. Otherwise I may have to knuckle down and join everyone else on the 10k RPM HDD bandwagon of whirling jet noise. :-P
Hey all, just to throw in my 2 cents. I am a CB tester as well, I was paying pretty close attention to the patching process and it was a total of about 245MB one 52MB and one 190MB or so.
Before I go into my thoughts about the patch and permorance thereafter, I want to tell people up front that I may be looking at this through rose colored glasses, and I think I have a decent excuse for that. There was a patch a couple of days after the PVP open beta that simply broke the game on my computer. When I would start up the game it would completely freeze my computer, I was unable to do anything other than a hard reboot. The error reporting process through Microsoft would tell me it was a video driver issue, but since i had the latest drivers, there was not much to do. (I'm sure that i could have gone back to an older version, but I am simply not tech savy enough to do that).
Anyhow, fast forward to today. It had been about 2 weeks since i had tried to play, so I thought I would see what the latest patches were and if they fixed anything. So I downloaded the patches, and low-and-behold, I could actually load the game up. So this was a step in the right direction. I also noted no CTD's or freazing during my couple of hours of play, which is a vast improvement over what I was use to. Also, the game seemed to be eating up alot less ram than it had been before, but that could just be my immagination, or faulty memory.
It did play smother, which is why I stated that it was using less memory, but it could have been the rsult of some other fix. I no longer had to stand in place for 2-3 minutes before I could properly move around as I did before as well. All this on a fairly low end computer, with only 1gb of ram, 3800 X2 dual core, and a 7600GT vid card, everything else is just what came in the box.
hi, I am in the closed beta and we just had a 650mb patch. all the stuttering is now gone, and my fps seems to almost doubled. I think the game fully supports multiple cores now because I saw cpu usage go to 100%.
good job funcom.
This is just as bad a troll posts.
Epic fail
What on earth is wrong with some people. Someone tells you that there has been a great patch, and you call it an epic fail? You must be a little sick inside I think.
cannot speak for jon wood but for me loading times improved drastic with patch. i had 5 minutes+ load times and now they are down to normal 20 seconds.
but yesterday someone posted a trick here to fix it as well taht allready had about same effect as the patch on load tiems. just delete all shader.* files in your install directory and start direct form ageofconan.exe to avoid that the patcher downloads them again. with that i had allready about same performance as today.
btw if you start from ageofconan.exe now after closed beta patch it will also start the patcher.

Couldn't agree more. Amazing isn't it?
Seriously, what on earth is wrong with these people? Any real fan of PC games would be delighted to see Funcom pull off a really great title.
Ugh; I actually feel disgusted by some of these comments. Honest skepticism I am all for, but some of this bile is really unbelievable.
Shannia wants AoC to fail for some reason and will cling on to anything inorder to enforce that twisted delusion.

That line right there explains a lot...
The reason haters are upset?
You know how everyone slows down when a wreck has happened to just get a glimpse?
All the haters are upset because it is only a fender bender and not a Vanguard derailment..
You risked geting banned from MMORPG.com (they know your IP regardless) and booted from BETA for breaking the NDA (MMORPG.com will assume you are violating the NDA) to share that with us.
Thank you.
that was a joke right? i dont think anyone would QQ that much
Sure.. Mr. first post registered today.. I believe you...
Usually I count to ten when pointing fingers and making afirmations, and that's when I speak, not counting when I type some of my thoughts. For the sake of the number which is under your avatar, count to ten before typing and pressing Post.
Do I play CB? Yes. Do i see improved performance after this patch compared with what was yesterday before the servers went down? Yes. Nuff said.

Don't understand how this news is "epic" fail? What exactly is "fail" about it? <scatching my head>

It just goes to show how much the people here hate just to hate. They can call others fanbois or whatever, but to be angry and hateful just because they've gotten used to it is pretty pathetic huh?

I think it fails in that its "insider" information, allegedly leaked from the CB, and perhaps in violation of the NDA. Of course its great news, assuming that its true. Unfortunately, for the average open beta player they have no way to verify if the issues they are having in the open beta will really be resolved in the live game if they go out and spend their money on the game.
Maybe Funcom could offer a money-back guarantee like those ads do on TV?

Finaly some decent news, the game works even better than it did before, quicker loading etc..60 FPS with high setting with atleast 3-4 players around me..
