You Aragon, troll and proud, must have nearly had a heart attack after skimming through this overwhelming positive post. I would've paid to see your face while reading them!
hi, I am in the closed beta and we just had a 650mb patch. all the stuttering is now gone, and my fps seems to almost doubled. I think the game fully supports multiple cores now because I saw cpu usage go to 100%.
good job funcom.
This is just as bad a troll posts.
Epic fail
Sorry but I can promise you what he is saying is true, i'm in the CB and the patch is Definitely real. anyone who has issues right now in open beta should expect a big increase in performance.

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
I wish to god Funcom would just do the smart thing and lay out the REAL client then. I'm sure they have reasons for what they are doing...but if this new CB patch fixes things (and I'm a believer here) then I'd be interested in them spending at least a week stressing IT as well.
Besides, we'd have the bonus of shutting all this up for awhile. I'm a hater, but I'd realllllly like it if the things I hate on could actually get talked about and experienced for once. I guess I just chose the wrong stuff to hate on...now I gotta wait and crap before I can be an awesome troll here too

About 40% getting worse performance isnt a minor problem and 150 developers should be able to work out some bugs and performance issues without any problem dont you think? Too bad AoC gameplay wont be fixed as easy.
Who in their right mind would play a game with 10 minute loading screens (that's what I heard they were before this patch). Funcom would be ashamed to call themselves an MMO company if they let that go unchecked. This is common sense, don't get so excited about it.
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
Well where did you get the 40% getting worse performance? Judging by the forums I don't see that much at all, especially as it's the haters that are infinitely more vocal. Devs are working on the it and are narrowing down the performance problem and it's getting better with every patch, and the people who are getting worse performances are getting fewer. They are WORKING on it, I fail to see why you want the game to fail so much, all these positive posts should have given even you some hope at least.
What's wrong with AoC gameplay? Now that performance is marginally better and will eventually iron out, you start attacking the gameplay? lol I don't even know why I'm even replying to you, guess it's your job to spread doom whatever the case. GL with that, peace!

Longest I had was about 5 minutes in OB but that was when I first entered that zoned and after that it usualy takes about a 1 or 2. And there are CB testers saying it takes about 20-40 sec.

Well the mobs look like their feet never touch the ground, they move and spin and twist their legs and feet around while standing in one spot. Also, the combat looks...yes, I said LOOKS...boring to me. Mostly going to be about reflexes if you're melee, using whichever key you need, and some memorization when it comes to combos. Ranged/spellcaster...that looked boring as hell to me. Even less fun than WoW's, or at the same level. Nice graphics though, and all the other features I can't comment on yet, we're only at level 20 here right?
Before we truly judge the gameplay we have to consider how long the feeling of "new" lasts. Most importantly when it comes to combat of course. But think how much we fight in MMOs. How long will "using 3/5 arrow keys" and "pressing an auto attack button while using skills that may focus on position, certain elements, ect" become synonomous? Only time can tell on that one.

Well then what the hell did this patch do, make the loading time one sec? Rofl. That's bull. This doesn't apply to OB yet, does it? Or did I misread? Hope not, cuz then I'd look like an idiot, hehe. And I did hear 10 min somewhere unless it was a gross exaggeration, or you have one beast of a comp.

What on earth is wrong with some people. Someone tells you that there has been a great patch, and you call it an epic fail? You must be a little sick inside I think.
I agree.
Don't understand how this news is "epic" fail? What exactly is "fail" about it? <scatching my head>
SERIOUSLY! Wtf is wrong with some ppl on this site?!?! It's as if nothing is ever good enough! Funcom pulls it together fixes some problems and ppl are STILL bitching.....
wow...just, wow... a little sick inside? Alot sick inside...

Thats what I meant after the CB got the patch, people who are in it saying its like 20-40 sec.
Just getting back in, from my last post there has been a nice run of optimistic reports. I'd say only about 15%-20% of the reports have it either the same or worse. So as mentioned this is a good thing.
There has been a lot of talk about haters, no names, but haters. If everyone would rewind to the beginning of beta the word was dominantly OB is old and CB is new and a lot better, no problems there, if anything the player is the problem. What you are seeing today is that CB wasn't much better if any better then OB, but I knew that, stubberness and denial was the issue for many.
So in the end who is the problem? The person simply calling it as it performs on their PC? Because it was an issue the devs mentioned it and this patch proves it. Or is it the person that will fudge things trying to keep a happy face on stuff? Going on to a forum and giving honest first impressions imo cannot be wrong. Not many at all was saying it could never get better or all hope was lost. But the other side buried those people long and hard, as haters, wow'ers. They wouldn't reason and they would label you. They also came up with some of the most cockamamee ideas ever to grace forums as to why it's smart to put out a buggy client. We all read it, we all know the score. Now we can await the arrival of this to OB, if time permits.
unfortunatly funcom hav nt pulled it together enough to make me want to buy it . i cant even run it smoothly on the lowest settings and my pc is well above the minimum requirements . theres been a few improvements though .

Well games are pretty boring when watching on youtube lol. Ranged look boring ofc, cause they don't move and start sniping away, there's nothing happening.
Regarding gameplay, you can judge it right now, it's not about being boring or not, it's about how the character feels, moves, waves his weapon etc. I can't see anything bad about the gameplay, though only time will tell regarding combat becoming annoying. In PvE, you don't need to really focus on everything and move like crazy, you just take your time with the mob if you don't feel like it. In PvP however combat will be fast and furious. That said, some people complain that combat might take it's toll, though you only really use the system's full effectiveness in PvP (and first months of gaming because it's something new).
Funny some say they downloaded 300-400mb I downloaded over 650mb, well well. The good thing is the performance problems are gone, vanished, evaporated. I can play the game in high in 1440x900 res with bloom and everything turned on. The game gave me a terrible stutter every few seconds before this miracle patch. It almost feels like a new game for me!
Now that the game is performing excellent and a few people here still are negative I suggest you move on. Now that AoC got great performance and you still hate it it's just not for you. If you liked the concept, art, scenery, atmosphere, playability, lore and so on, but the performance was terrible I could understand that you stuck around. Now that the performance is great - and still improving - there's really no point for you to stay around if you hate the game still. What you see is what you get now. Now you can play the game like it was intended to play.
If you still don't like it the most respectful thing you can do is leave us alone. It's disrepectful sticking around telling us fans the game we love sucks. We don't agree. We've tried it like it was intended to play and we love it, you don't and that's fair, but you can leave now. I'm sad that AoC didn't give you what you were looking for though. The MMO business isn't exactly crowded with great games. The good thing for you guys is that WAR isn't that far off though. Good luck with your searching and I hope to see you in another MMO in a few years time.

Holy Shit!! what a performance hike!
I got home from work not long ago, started D/L done in 8 mins was 0.99GB
Just took it for a quick test and my load screens are super fast now around Tortage, wasnt bad for me before but I can tell the difference especially in the graphics area.
I dont any issues with the contrast?
There are a few bugs still (im talking lvl 1-13 here in CB) some animations were way off than before the first time some NPC's loaded up after this patch, but a second visit to area was back to normal.
Customer Service is now present, you can /petition for extra help with tech issues taking priority.
When I used to run thru tortage (between lvl 1-13 experience) some buildings used to stutter a bit.... NO more!!
All I can say its looking slick for me and there is more to come!

That's pretty much exactly how it is for me too in closed beta after the patch today. Congrats funcom!

It's all good to claim that funcom has fixed everything but unfortunately people talking about the general beta really have no credability in my book. I've heard nothing about how wonderful general beta is and how the GB client was newer and a bunch of other BS... So I'm guessing there are two schools of people; 1. people that love AOC and it doesn't matter how much it has problems they are gonna only see the positives. or 2. people that have quit AoC and moved on and we don't hear anything from them.
If Funcom has so marvelously fixed the client then why the HELL have they left the open beta which is their front porch showing the whole world how wonderful the game is, sitting with all these problems. Seriously are the people running funcom insane or what?? I honestly can't think of a more destructive way to handle things so I'm gonna assume it is all BS and if there really was a perfect version that fixed the bugs they would be rushing it out to open beta to save some face before the game launches!?!
I'm sitting here trying for the life of me to decide if I want to keep my preorder or just cancel and forget it... For the life of me and people like me, funcom if there is a fix throw us a bone!

Well, no offense but I really could care less if you think someone like me is lying. I honestly have no reason to lie to you or anyone else. With that said, all I can really talk about is my experience in the closed beta, everyone has a different style of computer, make model, etc. I am only trying to tell people how I see the game and how it works for me. You should take anything anyone says with a grain of salt nowadays anyway, specially the doomsayers on this site.
If you are unsure about preordering then you're best bet is to cancel it and just wait till release. There is no one forcing you to preorder a game, and to be honest preorders are kind of silly anyway. It's much more fun to just go at a midnight selling and actually get your copy in person, atleast for me.

Good to hear Funcom got this patch out before the release. They're cutting things close, but far better to patch the improvements now than at the end of May.

Agreed, I wouldn't be surprised to see one more patch for performance.

Holy Shit!! what a performance hike!

Just so I get this right... The patch is only for closed beta so far but it should be out for OB sometime soon?
Edit: NM, got it, thanks
If you are unsure about preordering then you're best bet is to cancel it and just wait till release. There is no one forcing you to preorder a game, and to be honest preorders are kind of silly anyway. It's much more fun to just go at a midnight selling and actually get your copy in person, atleast for me.

Good to hear Funcom got this patch out before the release. They're cutting things close, but far better to patch the improvements now than at the end of May.
Agreed, I wouldn't be surprised to see one more patch for performance.
