An mmorpg should NOT have 30 instanced zones of the same area. How do u meet people that way??

By never seeing them again throughout the game?? This is NOT an MMORPG!!!

nope i'll stay subscribed and enjoy the game like i have been for the past 9 days(EA). I've rached my goal to hit 40 so i can ride my mammoth .... my next goal is to save up enough money for a horse. Its also easy to look passed the bugs for me, none of them are really gamebreaking, the only problem i had was with the fotd where i had troubles with the zone, but after the day it happened i havent had a problem with it since.

lol depending on these 'reviews' if you call them that is not smart to say the least.

At some point I will probably play the game. But no rush now (especially if there are issues with the game now) since I am quite busy at work either way. Would rather start playing it when I have more free time to put into it.

My only issue with AoC isn't the game, it is the slow response of customer service and GMs. I am enjoying the game but I wanted to be nice and report a bug on a quest and did a petition. I sent it in at 8 am Sunday morning. I was 428th in line. It is now Monday at 12 am and I am now getting to 188 in line. At this current pace it would take me 3-4 days per issue I have that needs tending to.

On topic though, why wouldn't you wait until the middle of next month to cancel rather than doing it now if you were going to do such a thing?

Won't pay past the 30 days, already made that decision.  Too many performance issues.  Runs like utter crap on a system that should run it perfectly fine (runs lotro on ultra).

Oh well, I gave it a shot.

I just cancelled. I am a gaurdian level 50 on a pvp server (tyranny)  and I made it there within 4 days casually playing and doing quests. I had no need to ever group and the instancing (zoning) was bothering me. I crashed a lot in "field of the dead" zone and I played that area with my system sound turn off. This game does not make me want to continue to level 80. Many people have told me that guild villages and other housing is useless at the moment (no special buffs or signficance in the world). My experiences in dungeons and so called "group instances" have been riddled with bugs and bosses being glitched (mobs gliding, walking through walls).

Much of the gathering and crafting is broken right now as well as the trader (auction house/bank).

My opinion of the game is that eventually,  the game will be patched and fixed but no one knows when (poor communication from FC). The game seems like its been developed for a console rather than a PC (lots of solo elements such as villa instances which forces you to solo quest). My advice to people who wish to continue playing and is annoyed by the griefing of ressurection spots, just reload into a different instance through the options available on the interface. Overall, this game is not rewarding or intense so far at lvl 50. I have a bunch of quests that are pretty much similar to level 1-20 and my gear, definintly not the best (but blue), still look the same when I was lvl 10.

Good games will always have a strong following but also tons of haters. Take WoW for example. If you were to believe the hate in these forums, that game should have less subscriptions than Archlord.

Back to AoC now. It's a niche game for a niche market. I'm very surprised that it has more initial momentum than LOTRO (almost the same momentum as WoW when it launched, but then the market was different). It of course remains to see how many subscriptions it will manage to retain by the end of the first month.

I am beginning to wish darkfall would be released. Then the cult of darkfall will fall apart and stop their religious attacks on other games to try and lure people to their vaporware object of worship.

AoC is a solid game. The instancing means that its possible to jump instance when a certain quest area is overcamped which I find extremely nice.

The actualy gameplay experience I have is exactly the same I had early in WoW. People meet and group up for certain encounters and disband their groups again within 30 min. The instance system does not in any way prevent this gamestyle.

No AoC has other problems I admit, but the instance system is not one of them.

I made a character on my brother's account, just to see how it's like (never caught my interest), went around doing a few quests, killing here and there, and just running around tortage. Although I only reached level 10, it still hevent caught my interest and am glad I didnt pay for the game. The graphics looks crappy to me (remember I only reached level 10 so Tortage was all I saw) but it just looks so outdated. If you all played Everquest, Tortage looks like the Emerald Jungle/Trakanons Teeth zone with tons more grass. It doesnt even look 'realistic'

Graphics arent an issue to me, (my statement above was just an opinion about how people "praise" AoC's graphics to other MMO's) I wanna play a game where it keeps me wanting to play forever. A game where people are all over a city, places where you have 'interactions' with people. I would at least thought that there would be a swarm of NOOBS running around in Tortage since its only be a few days. Combat is boring, just like all other MMO's to date. Left hit middle hit right hit buttons? For people who say you get tired of pressing the same hot buttons, I LOL at you because all they did was give you skills in your hot bar and make you press even more hotbuttons using your left middle right attack button. Sure its different, but a whole lot more button pressing than the basic spam hot button in other MMO's.

I made this longer than I expected, anyway, I'm glad I stuck by my decision about not bothering with AoC. Who knows it might just become free to play...LoL makes me think back when my bro went out to buy Archlords for 50 bucks and the week after that MMORPG.com was giving away free account keys to play it.

You should probably wait a bit for the first month to pass, it'll happen before you know it. After that Funcom will probably open the ability to register with buddy keys. Right now the demand seems so high, that they prefer to play it safe and keep the open server spots for just the subscribers.

Even tho I was a little disappointed with the insane amount of instances and the way pvp is run, I think the developers are going to turn this game into a win.

Hey, I'll probably stick it through til maybe Champions or I get bored. I like it, though. I just got an Alienware laptop, and the game runs and looks well. The only issue I have with Conan is during, say, the story arch of quests, I feel alone and disconnected from everyone else (Night in Tortage, if you know what I'm talking about).

Although, with a guild, it's a lot nicer now.

Why do I have a hard time believing you casualled to 50 in 4?

    nice Alt created ...

whatever votes go on here are no representation of the who community, or any real indication of the feelings towards it either. With so many haters who never played the game around..

I mean really 3 days you played ...

Haha! NOW this forum suddenly is not good enough for AoC! For an indication similar to this just check out the official forum, especially the tech-section is interesting...

    To Bartzilla :

Some people don't know the meaning of the world casual. Casual means playing for 1-2 hours per day. And some days you won't be playing at all.

    To MoLoK_:

These forums were never a good indication of the popularity of a game. WoW had the worst bashing of all games and outside these forums is the most popular game.

This game is definitely not WoW, so if that's your cup of tea, please, PLEASE, go back to it. I'm quite happy that AoC is NOT WoW.

I run the game on max settings just fine. I get great FPS and low latency, which is great considering how little time the game has been in stores.

DX10 isn't even in the game yet, so I'm wondering if you really know what you're talking about.

Night time play ends after Tortage, and the Destiny quests become much less frequent.

You might want to finish Tortage and get into the more open game world before passing judgement.

There is an option on these forums to hide signatures completely. I'm using it and really add ups to the actual feeling of a forum .

Kinda OT but ... thanks for that tip. :)

As far as game goes I'm staying on the fence for now, I guess I got alergic to spin doctors.

It's really sad so see all this wow fanboys posting here saying that they canceled subscriptions, most of them dont even have a capable computer let alone play the game. How looser must a person be in real life to come to this forums just to write BS about a game they didnt even tryied, just because they are afraid their precious wow, the meaning of their sad lives, starts going down.... its ridiculous and i feel pity of this ppl.

Now to answer the thread, i am a 3 year player of wow, and like someone said, i am canceling the account on this poor old outdated game.. bye bye wow

  • QmireQmire Member Posts: 423

If you were using these forums as "how it's going to look like on the subs", then WoW wouldn't even have had 300k subs but as you can see it's at 10 million+.

    Get my drift?

Also loved games in here are likely to have low subs.... The irony....

People go to forums, to advocate their hatred or problems with the games, or if it's underplayed, they protect it with zealous might.

I've seen so many "LoL- mania" pools towards WoW, which never even by a bargain reflected upon their subscription number.

Anyway, for now i'm enjoying the game, AoC, it could change later on but it'll probably be the game till something more interesting pops up, WAR not being one of them that game looks awful and the combat looks even worse than boring. However that can change as well. Once again the irony both in this post and thread will strike us all down....

    With laughter some day.
