I've never seen so many people with such a sense of misplaced Self-Entitlement, you are not entitled to a god damned thing, nothing was promised to you, nobody lied to you, you were not wronged in any way, shape or form.
Sorry Ummnope, you posted at the same time i did.
Just wanted to highlight what you said there because that is incorrect. Funcom promised a lot of features (such as DX, as i mention in my post above) and had these features as selling points in their pre-orders. I don't have the box here now, so i don't know if the box says DX10 support or not, but i know the pre-order at play did. And when the game arrived there was no DX10 support.
Same with a few other features that were left behind.
I agree with you largely, but i just wanted to point that bit out
Well like a few people have said alot of what they are going to add laer this year was pretty muched promised for release so it isnt really that big an "upgrade" more of a "hey we forgot about this stuff at launch"
Also there was alot of things not working like crafting, gathering, quests and the horrible travel routes,so maybe would be an idea to sort them things 1st before thinking about adding other things.
I have cancelled my sub and already taken it of my hard-drive,I may try it again in about 4/5 months to see if they have sorted the game out and added the new content but by then game's like TCoS,WAR and Aion could be released,I have targeted TCoS for sometime but will play the game that is the most fun for me ofc.
I think yet again the release of AoC just show's dev's need to be sure there game is ready before a dodgey release drive's player's away and they have to send out promise's like this 1 after only 3 weeks about further content just to stop player's from leaving in wave's.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Yeah Ummnope I think you kinda short circuited there but you have a point...except the one ZeGerman pointed out. It's like someone promises you a thousand bucks but can't give it to you until 3 months later. Then, when 3 months pass, he says "Oops sorry I spent it on something else." He doesn't say anything during that 3 months, so you expect your money. Would you be so calm and cool? I know it's not exactly the same here, but it's an exaggeration which proves the same point. Even if a company says something will be in their game, but then publicly says they can't add it in or will add it in later, I wouldn't be too upset. At least they said something.
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
I see a lot of people complaining about all this stuff not in the game and not implemented as promised etc. etc., but look at most other games.
The stuff you complain about exists in almost all MMO's at launch and even in MMO expansions at launch. I do wish they would have scaled back on features until they were done, tested, and polished instead of trying to make it look feature rich though.
I know in most games they start with very little of their planned features implemented and roll them out over time. I feel like the community though lately demands far more features, polish, and content then is feasible for a game at launch based on the time/money/manpower involved. Funcom tried to find the perfect blend, but obviously felt that more features would draw in more players then less features and content with more polish.
I've seen games go the route of being very low on features and content, but be extremely polished with the base that they have as they start rolling out updates/content/features with patches. This is especially prevailant in Asian MMO's with smaller budgets. The problem is these games go under the radar for so long, and risk dying off due to not enough player base. These games get blasted by the masses for lacking content/features.
I've also seen games go the route of being as feature rich and content full as possible, but lack polish in which the first part of the game is endless bug fixing, and polish of the large amount of features and content. These games get blasted for their lack of polish and bugs.
I've only seen one or two games pull of a decently successful blend that was accepted by the masses.
You have to try to understand where these companies are coming from, and analyze what's important to you. To me, what is important is where I see the game going over the next 6 months or so. How much manpower are they putting into either rolling out features/content, or polishing/bug fixing, and is the rate at which they are doing so enough for me to enjoy myself with what's available. If not then I usually leave the game for a while and come back at a later date.
Don't take it personal. These companies have nothing against you, and all of them tread these issues at launch.
If you actually read the reviews that gives AoC 8+/10, 80+/100(%) scores, you'll notice not a single reviewer has played more than a few levels outside Tortage. Go figure.
This update really sucks. It'd be much better if they'd complete and polish the game before adding more stuff/bugs.
This all looks good, but AoC has a shaky past of overpromising, and taking waaaaay longer to deliver. There will be snow on the ground before we see ANY of this.
Other than that, sounds like some good content will eventually reach us.
This all looks good, but AoC has a shaky past of overpromising, and taking waaaaay longer to deliver. There will be snow on the ground before we see ANY of this. Other than that, sounds like some good content will eventually reach us.
A past of overpromising and taking waaaaay longer to deliver already? Aren't we still in the first month, even for Early Access players?
Bottom Line: If you don't like the game, don't fucking play it, stop fucking whining, and go play something you DO enjoy. I've never seen so many people with such a sense of misplaced Self-Entitlement, you are not entitled to a god damned thing, nothing was promised to you, nobody lied to you, you were not wronged in any way, shape or form. If you chose to play after deciding the game was not for you, that was your decision, crying like a little bitch on the mmorpg.com forums is not going to improve or hinder the game in any way, so give it rest already haters. Honestly, most naysaying posters should seek therapy, I've never seen so many people afflicted with a rampantly out-of-control Napoleon Complex. Grow up, face the facts, and just stop playing/shitting all over the game if you already quit or decided it wasn't for you. The only person to blame for repeatedly making the same mistakes, is you.
Bottom Line:
Is funcom bought it on themselves, all on there own. Your right i probally wasnt lied to . But than again hiding the facts is about the same as lying wouldnt you say .
They have a open beta with no NDA on levels 1-5 and a couple Bg,s The whole time telling everyone we have a better build for release , but we dont want anyone to see it or hear one word about it because we dont want to ruin the surprize for people after release. Truth was people would have got to the unfinished and missing content before open beta was even finished .
I never did buy the game yet , but i might have if they would have said . Hey we have a pretty good game here but its not finished, this is what we have. I might have jumped on the bandwagon and helped them make the game better As it stands now funcom can S/D am not paying them a penny ever for any product they make .
I have never seen a company announce such massive changes to a game so soon after release. Funcom developers must be shaking in their boots with fear of most subscribers bailing.
I see a lot of people complaining about all this stuff not in the game and not implemented as promised etc. etc., but look at most other games. The stuff you complain about exists in almost all MMO's at launch and even in MMO expansions at launch.
Thats kind of what i tried to explain in my previous post.
Why are people OK with an MMO not being feature compete. Would people be OK with GTA only being 50% complete and the rest being patched out after 2 to 12 weeks?
We MMO players have gotten into this "oh well they will patch it out later" mood and the developers are taking full advantage of it. Promising everything, delivering half of it and MAYBE shipping the rest later.
I think it's quite sad we all just seem to swallow this (and i have done the same in the past with other games).
No longer will evil misdeeds go unpunished. Of course, Hyboria is ruthless and barbaric so don’t expect anyone to deal out justice just because someone smacks you about with a very heavy axe, but some justice is actually now being introduced to the world.
This is where the fugitive system comes in, presented in a set of colors defining your fugitive status – from blue to orange and eventually the deadly red.
Everyone is by default classified as “blue”, but your actions as a player killer will affect your fugitive rating. If you kill someone way under your level, you will notice that you will very quickly move to red. So will actions such as killing someone repeatedly, or other general unfairness. The more serious the crime, the quicker you rise in fugitive.
Obtaining red status will be quite painful to you. This means that other players can kill you without rising in fugitive level, and if they manage to kill you while you have red fugitive you will actually drop one of your better items and gold that they can loot!
Of course, turning red will be a double-edged sword. Sure, it will get you a lot of attention and many will probably see you as a danger to be avoided. But at the same time, people will hunt you down for your items and your gold so be very, very careful!
Wasn't like half of those features promised at launch? And now they're selling them as new? Maybe they'll beta test all these new things as efficiently as they did with the original game Pay2beta saga continues...

I don't have a problem with the game not being feature complete as long as they are honest. I don't think Kyleran is an idiot or something for liking AoC as it is. And like him instancing does not bother me that much.
But calling this "evolution" is the height of BS. But it is what I expected from Funcom after reading the various threads about raiding. It was the typical rhetorical sleight of hand. Everything is awesome is the stuff that is complete crap is just frigging awesome and there won't be any problems because look over here its a shiny birdie!
Just wonder what people will be saying when its 8 months down the road and half of this isnt even patched in yet.
Its sad when 90% of this was a launch selling point, but I guess they were kinda telling the truth...
It will be ready for the 360 launch
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
You people are paying play beta. They trying keep people subscribing pass the free month by telling you what they plan on adding. eventually the game will be out of beta and be good all around fun. AOC has done well so far because of hype. Hype eventually goes away and people eventually come down and hate or love the game that now thinks they love it.
Honestly... does any AAA MMORPG game company ever treat their customers the way they should be?
WAR is going to promise things that won't be there at launch. So will Aion. So had WoW. So will any company that sees an opportunity to get the best money... that is what any large company is out for. Money. Funcom is certainly no different, if not worse. The sad thing is, they actually have a decent game for once and a perfect opportunity to bend us over, more than they need to obviously by the way they are still wording things.
The even sadder part is that most of the consumers for any company are idiots. You may be thinking to yourself "WTF, they're calling this an evolution? It was what was F#$%in' promised at launch!" While others will be saying, "Oh boy, more stuff?" Guys, notice how there is no apology for their obvious let-down. Notice the fact that they are trying to completely cover up their old promises... the title itself is clear evidence.
I'm a fan of the game, but not the company. If WAR treats it's consumers any better (which I doubt but too unfair to judge now, other than what they did with DAoC) I'm going to throw AoC out in the trash and get myself a copy. If AoC fails to improve upon itself by the launch of WAR and WAR isn't any better than I'm just going to go back to WoW... blizz may not be the greatest but at least they got their @$$ together and started hearing the customer's concerns.
I don't care how good a game is. If it's being created by a company that obviously shows more care for itself than the consumer than I'm not going to support it.
Here's the sketchy part about this to me. Maybe it's just me, but I don't ever remember a company posting what's coming "next" in the first 3-4 weeks after launch.
It just seems the timing is a bit ridiculous.
I mean shouldn't the players still be digesting the content that was in at launch? Has anyone ever heard of what sounds like an "expansion" being announced within a month of a game launching?
To Douhk: CCP and Mythic come to mind as being very good to their customers. Sure they've made their mistakes, but they seem to admit them and try to fix them when they happen.

It does happen in some MMO launches, usually 2-3 months out, but its usually new features and possible continuations of story/quest lines, not systems that should have been in game at the start being reworded to look new.
