Well quit trying to translate people thoughts Ms. Cleo. It isn't working out for you very well so far.
EULA's are garbage always have been. They are basically Illegal everywhere but America which should tell you something. Just keep hiding behind your EULA while the rest of the WoW community passes you by.

Send me a PM and Ill direct you where to get it. There really is a better one out there. Just more difficult to setup. I said I wouldn't say it's name or where to get it on the forums because that will get me banned on MMORPG.com, you can't advertise bots on here.
Just so you know though, No I do not bot, All my characters are legit and I have several of them.
There are sites out there though that can teach you lots of shortcuts and tricks to make your time in wow easier though, and that is how I know about the bots.
I will also PM you personal Vent info, Server I play on, character names and guild info if you like.
I'm in one of the top guilds in the world, not just in USA. Your welcome to talk to them as well, they all have about the same view as I do, If you whine over bots, you aren't playing WoW then. Real WoW players could care less about botters or gold farmers, as nothing they do pertains to them.
I think what I'm getting out both sides of the argument is that Blizzard should have stuck to banning accounts if they detected Bot usage but stayed away from the developers of the bot program themselves since those developers are only writing software that interacts with the game the same way a player would. ie...Blizzards actual software code is not modified in anyway.
A question for you that would be a similar legal issue. There are number of companies that make plug-ins for Microsoft Excel. Do those companies need to have permission from Microsoft first?
Well even still this does nothing. Hackers are like the viruses they create. They are like a cell. You stop one and five more will pop up in it's place. If you think no one is going to create a new improved and better glider based off this guys work, you would be wrong. If Blizzard thinks they can ever stop the hackers of the world. They are mistaken as well. Glider is just 1 of 2 very good bot programs for wow. The 2nd of the set is so bad ass that warden can't even see it. It works, and is used by thousands of players daily.
It doesn't matter in games or other aspects of the digital world. Hackers exist to fight the system. They do so very well. They will be around for as long as we type on keyboards. This stops nothing.
The same thing could be said for ever other low-life out there too, including thieves, robbers and murderers.None of which will ever be stopped. The best that can be done is to stop the ones you can.
I hope they do ruin his life I would be happy as hell if he got life in prison (I know it will not happen, but I can wish)
And this ruling does nto more than what already happens with copyright violations, hell they charge people $10k-100k per shared song in court cases with the RIAA. Hell you are better off to go into a store and physically steal 100 cds than to share one fucking song. Or you are better off raping a child than selling pot to a neighbor in a lot of states.
This countries laws are fucked up anyways, this ruling just so happens to fall into what I like seeing. Saying this one ruling will send the law system into something worse is severly naive. The law system is already fucked, and they can take away your rights in a second (in reference to several laws passed after 9-11).
My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.
Blizzard doesn't care about the money. They just want to ...
Yep definetly, Blizzard definetly not care about money. None of their employees care about money, in fact they work for free. Every penny they make heads to the church and education.
Taken out of context. I was clearly referring to the lawsuit's penalty phase. Certainly they care about the money they make off the games they release. They are a software company afterall, that's what they do.
Just because these guys don't like the decision doesn't make them right- but, their reasons are pretty compelling- especially if you read the law involved yourself.
On the other hand, one would assume that the judge knows a bit about the law himself and he sided with Blizzard at least on the one count. That doesn't make him right either, it could be overturned on appeal, but I think his opinion holds just a bit more weight than any of the folks you mentioned, don't you think?
You buy a painting and some time later decide to have a yard sale and the artist sues you for selling the painting. Not even close to the same thing, but it's ruling like this that make scenarios like that a possibility.

I do not agree with botting. I do think it's cheating, I do not condone it, and I report anyone that does it. That does not give a judge the right to usurp already estabilshed laws however.
This goes far beyond botting, and Blizzard and the court should have taken a more lawful aproach.
Edit: And I aspire to sell my artwork. Copyrights and thier laws have actual meaning beyond a silly game to me. And some of the things I've read in this thread are pretty heartbreaking. BTW: Halo 3 is a pretty good game.
This goes far beyond botting, and Blizzard and the court should have taken a more lawful aproach.
You are saying you know more about the law than the judge and the blizzard lawyers? Are you a lawyer or Judge?
I know I never leased a copy of WoW and that is what the judge determined in order to give his ruling.
And how bout you quote my entire post instead of a tiny snippet. You're trying to take out of context. Much like the judge did in this case.
Edit: Another thing. A EULA is an agreement (contract) between the player and the service provider. A contract is null and void if the person agreing (signing) to it isn't over the age of 18. As far as I'm aware you still have to be 18 to sign a contract in the US. How worthwhile is the EULA if the magority of the poeple clicking the I agree button isn't even able to be bound to it due to thier age?
Second edit. I never went to artschool but I drew my avatar. Does my lack of schooling mean I'm not an artist? My brother never went to college and he programs video games for fun? Does that mean thier not games because he's not a developer? A friend of mine builds race cars. He isn't a mechanic, doesn't get paid to build them, and does them for fun. Does his being a welder mean that his cars aren't race cars? Just because someone isn't a judge or a lawyer doesn't mean they know less about a law.
How about. I'm an athiest and I know more about religion then most of the people I hold discussions with. Chew on that a bit.
I just used one of the references of you saying they changed/usuped laws.
You are acting like you know the full code of law involving copyrighted material, and the ways in which you can use the copyrighted material.
You buy a cd and a movie as well, but there are a TON of limitations with what you can do with them (including limitations on copying, displaying in public, etc).
So if said program copies a part of the game, then it is pretty easy to see how it violates the copyright. also if the bot cost money, then he is also profiting from copying copyrighted material in a way that violates the copyright.
My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.

THE JUDGE DETERMINED THAT WE AS THE CONSUMER DID NOT PURCHASE TO OWN OUR COPIES OF WOW, BUT INSTEAD ARE ONLY LEASING THEM IN ORDER FOR THE RULING TO BE PASSED.
Maybe you should read what you're arguing along with what I wrote.
Edit: Just because a judge said it doesn't make it right. Inoccent people are imprisonned and ruling get overturned. How many people agreed with the judge in the OJ trial?
Well it still makes sense, if they are giving the users a limited liscence to use the software, then they can determine how it is to be used.
This is used for a lot of software, like forum software and graphics software - a lot of them give you a limited liscence for personal use, and if you use it for other means, then you are breaking the liscence agreement.
Blizzard has a similar setup for wow it seems. This kind of thing has been used for years in gaming, that is why a lot of the leaked source code p.servers are illegal (and/or the ones that use partial game files). They are breaking the copyright by using part of the game in a way it is not legal to do.
If the bot did not copy the code to memory, and instead emulated it, then it would in essence not break the disputed law. But then you would be hacking into their servers (i.e. accessing them in an unauthorized manner) and they could make a criminal case out of it.
EDIT: And the jury was the one who said not guilty....
My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.
I'm not very familiar with glider, how does it really work? If gilder just emulates key presses and mouse clicks, how does it know when to do things? It has to gather information from somewhere?

If the bot did not copy the code to memory, and instead emulated it, then it would in essence not break the disputed law. But then you would be hacking into their servers (i.e. accessing them in an unauthorized manner) and they could make a criminal case out of it.
EDIT: And the jury was the one who said not guilty....
My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.
I'm not very familiar with glider, how does it really work? If gilder just emulates key presses and mouse clicks, how does it know when to do things? It has to gather information from somewhere?
