It's pretty obvious that people care or else there wouldn't be a thread about it. So hard to type "no one really cares except you"? I suppose so.

The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
No-one cares about you either to be honest. This is a silly thread made by a silly person who got too few problems. No-one cares about this stuff. If you do, take a look at the daily news and realize it's meaningless to care about this. There is war in the world, you know.
(plus you make yourself look like an elitist snot )
The reason why it bothers me when people screw up basic grammar is because it gives me the impression that they just *don't care*: that they have so little respect for those they are talking to that they couldn't bother to type things normally. Either that, or I think they're just wallowing in stupidity -- a sort of anti-intellectualism.
I'm not talking about people who are not native English speakers or who really just aren't very bright. I'm talking about those who know better but choose to use poor grammar.
Originally posted by guiltyone I think a friend of mine said it best, "It would be difficult to declare 'English' the official language of the U.S.A. when even the legal citizens can't speak it well enough to be understood."
Amen. It truly is a sad state of affairs.

I dont care how much people hate it, I use that type of speech all the time in MMO's. It is quick, easy, and more conenient to use. At least I, and many other people too, do not simply forget true grammer. Is it really that wrong to make things easier?, for the sake of nothing but conienience.
Reading your post... I could almost guess you were a supporter of bad english. I think it is because I am so attentive to the subtle nuances in life.
But then, what do I know, english is my second language.
i am pretty sure this site has a spell checker anyway. as for the grammer stuff...it really comes down to their education. its expected that they become somewhat lazy when relaxing at home however when they use that kind of crap at school (so many English teachers are pissed off at the use of txt and slang) its almost impossible to expect any kind of etuiqute from them.
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds -Solid non level based game -Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
The english language is forever morphing. The people dont confirm to fit the language, the language conforms to fit the people. Words like "ain't" and "ya'll" have made their way into the dictionary, so whats so bad about people using shorter terms? I mean for crying out loud Snoop makes up words you can now find in the dictionary m'nizzle, f'sho.
Your post may apply to people with English as their mother tongue, but doesn't apply to everyone on the internet. In this multilingual and multicultural environment, certain things can be forgiven in the name of communication.
Well said. The English language is so awesome and it blows that even I, a foreigner speak it better than most. A shame on you.
You folks seem to be under the impression that expressing ones thoughts in a shorter form is a measurement of their intellect. I assure you that is not the case. In fact some of the smartest people Ive ever known could do calculus equations that made me bleed from the ears. These same people would come to me to ask for help writing papers for their composition classes. You cant have it all man.
P.S. you guys ever hear of shorthand? I suppose you think thats the devil too.

You are the poster child of this problem.
I highlighted the problems in your post.
'Too few problems'?
'Daily news is meaningless'?
'Elitist snot'?
The fact that half of your post doesn't make any sense kinda proves his point. I realise you're not from the US, neither am I, but that doesn't mean everything about correct spelling is related to being an elitist. In your example it's more about readability.
I. Your vs you're your = belonging to you you're= contraction for "you are" ( and is different from "your") These words are not interchangeable. II. I despise illiteracy or intellectual laziness. Get it right before your high school English teachers slap your parents. It takes less than one minute to proofread (you internet generation dancing monkeys might have to look that one up) a post. I'm not talking about typos here ... I'm talking about selecting the correct word in the first place. And, please, do not give me that "you know what I mean" crap. You can point to your mouth and rub your stomach and I know you are hungry ... But it's still not English.
I speak 5 languages, can write in at least 3 and understand at least 6 (basics). How many do you know?
That’s right… not everyone here is English. Many members on these forums are French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Japanese and such. If you’re english from the U.S.A , England or vice versa then yes, you might want to ensure that your english is proper but your post is basically proving that you do not think much of the rest of the world.
I think a lot of people here are doing efforts in speaking english when it is not their primary language. How about you make an effort and tolerate a little bit more?
I would love to see you write a full post in French, German or Chinese perhaps. Sorry if your intention was not to tell the whole world that you do not aknowledge them but next time, think before posting.
Before long, we'll all be typing or speaking in one language anyway.
Most of the time, when I see 'broken English', I assume it's coming from some 1337 speaking smacktard as opposed to someone outside of the US.
I'm not one who would typically grade on spelling/grammar on the intarwebz. If the individual can relay a thought via text and provides relevant information, then why not pardon some issues caused by a language barrier?

I'm sure the OP would certainly accept the fact that English is not everyone's primary language. He targeted this to those who are British or American, where English is the primary language. Perhaps more clarification would have been nice, but he never said that foreigners are intellectually lazy because they've learned English in addition to their native tongue.

I do. It really is getting out of hand. How hard is it to type in full sentences with punctuation? Each year it seems to get worse and worse.

THIS IS THE INTERNET!
People are going to 'talk' the way they want no matter how much you 'correct' them.
Hell there are people that will do it just to spite you.
Forums and MMO's is where you will do it most, and seeing how this is a MMORPG forum, you are going to see it ever so much more. Enjoy.
*edit*
Oh and the only thing that bothers me is when people deside they want to be uber cool and type in all caps, or use "retarted" instead of "retarded".
Wow, this is still going on? I am amazed.
