Nope, I'm in the beta so no worries for me~

However keep in mind that rank 20 in WAR is the same as level 40 in AOC.

What can be the reason for that?

It would be like opening a present before Christmas, so we are just going to get to shake it.

I'm not familiar with exactly what scenario your referring to, but This wouldn't be the firstt time I've joined a beta and found it level capped.

Ragnarok Online was level capped at 50, and City of Villains was capped during the stress tests and open beta.

I fail to see the problem here.

They are also dropping the NDA around open beta, so if you are trying to imply they are pulling a Funcom you are definately wrong. They likely do not want you to rush through all of the content , it is a beta after all.

Oh brother, I knew this was coming. More troll food. However, WAR is not AoC. They could've said "you'll be stuck at max level so we can test end-game content" but then once you actually played the game at launch you wouldn't be able to experience the end-game content for the first time. Kind of a bummer. I'll laugh if everyone complains about this, then halfway into the beta Mythic switches it around and says "Please make max level chars from now until the end of beta. We need to test the high level stuff." That probably won't happen but they're still using beta as focused testing, which means they don't have to focus only on the low levels.

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

its a stresstesting beta, also lvl 20 is half the level cap so its not like AoC (either OP is a troll or he is just plain stupid)

Half the game is available in OB. WOW had a limit, many others have. I m in beta so no worries here either, but i can say you ll see plenty and will have more to do then you could imagine.

The AoC kids like to think that WAR will be a disaster because AoC was a disaster...even though they are made by 2 separate companies and Mythic has already earned our trust through being open with their customers and from past games they've made (DAoC).

The problem is that Ragnarok is kind of a nothing game and City of Villains ultimately was an expansion already running on top of an existing game, thus not really comparable -- WAR is a triple-A title.  The problem is that everyone right now is thinking about how Funcom restricted levels in the AoC open beta and many people feel that is a sign that the company is trying to hide something.

Don't get angry, I'm just explaining the exact scenario some people are playing through their minds.

    Tin-foil hat, activate!

A cap just means that we won't have people rush through content and then cancel their preorder or something. And anyways, it's stress testing.

The biggest thing is that unlike AoC the 1-20 content will be in the same vein as 20-40. In Conan 1-20 was a completely (and actually decent) game.

Age of Conan capped it's open beta at level 20 out of 80 levels.   I'm assuming you have never played AOC but the first 20 levels are full of cut scenes, voice overs, class tailored instanced quests etc.  After you leave the newbie area and go out into the real world most of that ends and it plays more like a normal MMORPG.   Once you reach level 45 or so the content thins out and the game just isn't finished, buggy graphics, animations etc.  They didn't test the end game at all so raid mobs were easily exploitable and the sieges weren't even in game at release.

Anyone who played AOC probably has a right to be worried about everything in a new game because AOC was a trainwreck.  WAR isn't like this though so it is unfounded.

The response from the jaded will be:

OMG OH NO HERE WE GO AGAIN

Can you blame them? But this time it doesn't smell of week-old rotten fish.

Restricting levels is going to be a good way to stress test the content that people are going to come in to play.  And, unlike Funcom, Mythic has already proved that their content is actually in the game.

    No biggie.

Again BETA is still BETA!!!!! they are going to do server resets and run a test plans and server stress tests do not be surpised if a server goes down that can happen. THIS IS NOT A DEMO!!!!.  People need to get it in their head YOU WILL KEEP NOTHING OUT OF OPEN BETA!!!!  you will loose everything out of it and have to restart characters and alts with head start.

I certainly hope that people saying "Half the game is available in OB" are wrong... I'd hope there'd be more at endgame than there'd be 1-20.

In a sense its like a demo I guess, only get to see so much. I don't blame anyone for being paranoid  though after the crap Funcom pulled.

The closed Beta testers can play all the way to max level can't they?

Yes you re right. Of course, in a literal sense though you have access to half the games land etc. Tiers 3 and 4 of course hold more then the first 2 but it s still essentially half the game.

I second that, hopefully it will be a lot more.

But you know they aren't right, most of the people making these claims are talking out of their ass, as usual, knowing nothing but regurtitated opinions and claims of others.

Ok so just give the people a guarantee that all the end game content works great and there is plenty of it......Let us know that the RVR at end game works well and that there is no lag whatsoever in the large battles.....After AoC no one cares if the game works great at level 20 its max level msot are concerned about.......

Where do you get the tinfoil hat? Is that a public quest reward? Which zone? Is it useable by all classes?
