Darkfall fans trashing hype meters?

Actually it does. Did you even read what you wrote?
Youve signed up for OBs because you wanted to give it a chance and you had an open mind about it...meaning you were interested on some level. Im going to give the WAR OB a shot (thanks mmorpg.com for the key) just to give it a whirl, but my main game is DF. But im not exactly signing up for hello kitty online ob.
The increase on the DF forums is pretty much directly related to an increase in hype. hype = interest in the game. people signing up on the forums and trying to get into ob = showing interest in the game.
this is really getting sad.

My absolute favourite is pasta and some specific greek as well as turkish meals, if now someone offers me to try out froglegs for free, i might try them out. Doesnt matter afterwards if i liked them or not. Now iam a frogleg fan, it belongs to my favourite meals........looooooool.
Um...thanks for confirming what i already knew? Im a big fan of WAR...my guild was gearing up to play it until DF came through last week. I am just way more of a fan of DF as it offers a much more deep and satisfying mmo experience. But hey thanks for letting me know...what i already openly admited many times......

So when you guys tried to argue that is wasnt, i had to put you in your place. no one is saying all of those new people on the forums are fans...but since again the topic is about hype...those people took the time to register and sign up so they are obviously interested on some level....and that my friend represents some hype building around the game.
lesson over. eagerly awaiting the next quote you pull out and try to twist words around to avoid admitting you were off base.

Amazing how 10 year old gameplay is exactly what a lot of us want -- FREEDOM. Freedom that your current batch of crap games has taken away. UO had it. SWG HAD it.
Also amazing that Darkfall will be one of the first games where combat is 100% player-controlled. So most of you "amazing gamers" can't hide behind your hotkeys and "levels" to win PvP...
For a game that you say sports "10 year old gameplay/graphics" Darkfall has a lot more potential and looks a heck of a lot more fun than your WoW version 2.0 aka WARHAMMER.
Now onto AoC, with all of its amazing graphics... Yep, I'll take average graphics (which by the way are STILL better than WoW or WAR) for a game that doesn't suck like AoC, WoW, or WAR...
Food for thought, if developers started building the game structures we had with UO and Pre-CU SWG, us players would have the freedom we deserve. Unfortunately, most of you need your little hands held through the big mean MMO genre. Simply put, most of you aren't smart enough to enjoy a good sandbox and aren't creative enough to contribute to one.

So the increasement of DF forum members explains why the rest of the games have been hyped down in the last week?
I put the part you quoted in red, since you're forgetting what we were talking about.
A LOT of people are excited that DF may release before xmas so it's high on the hype meter.
Whats so hard to understand about that?
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions so stop criticizing other people's opinions for the hype meters....but in all honesty Darkfall deserves 10.

Honestly, my only care about the hype meter is that I like to see lesser known but awesome looking games up there to get the attention. I didn't know about Jumpgate Evolution until I saw it in the top 5, and after looking at it I can't wait for it to come out. I want the lesser known games to get as much exposure as possible, because the more people that see it, the more people that play it.
Somehow this got warped into how great darkfall is and how everyone is a carebear. Whatever. I think Darkfall COULD be amazing if it ever releases, but personally wasn't that impressed with the video.

actually, yes, they are, there is a post in Darkfall Advanced Discussion on Forumfall that says that they are gonna bring down other games. That is when i completley and utterly stopped Darkfall, i will not be in a community of trolls.
and isn't it funny, one of the games that complains the most about trollls from my experience, are now that biggest community of trolls that i currently know.

Every game has its fanboys, unfortunately. The majority of the older community are too weathered and worn to go running around at the slightest news of beta. These are the newer folk with stars in their eyes trying to spread word of revolution. I'd take pitty on the rest of the community. (Though most of the community is a bunch of ****s.

I was watching darkfall development before I knew about the MMORPG site. I know I've been here since 2004, and its almost 2009. I was a hardcore shadowbane player for years... if anything, that proves I'll play outdated games just for PvP. Even I have to say, CALL US WHEN YOU HAVE A REAL BETA, UNTIL THEN SHUT IT. YOU HAVE NO GAME.

last couple of days there has been an upsurge of viral marketing with regard to Darkfall.
Okay, they are at Beta - only to be expected.
But Darkfall fans : you are setting yourselves up here.
Darkfall may well be the best game ever - but several other MMOs in the last 12 months have made the same claim - and failed.
That just leaves the fanbois looking stupid. Sorry, more stupid.
If Darkfall really is the best game ever, we will all find this out and convert in good time.

Yes we know. You have a problem with other games gettng hyped down by DF fans.
But guess what...thats the purpose of the hype meter. I dont think DF fans are hyping down games they care about. I have personally given high hype scores to WAR and Earthrise even though i am mainly focused on DF. And i gave lower hype to games I have absolutly 0 interest in. And that is the point. The meter gauges the community and i showed it where my interest was.

Common mistake...judging a games community before it releases. DF's community hasnt arrived yet, all you have now is the forum fallers who are just the really devoted followers of the game, but they represent an extremely small percentage of what wll be the DF subscription base.

Its up to everyone to act in the way they find right.
I doubt many of the Darkfall followers put other good games down cause its a thread on it on Darkfall main board. Infact many in that thread says its bad judgement to downhype other games. Darkfall main board is a very mature one. Infact the best i ever been on.
A thread about hyping Darkfall here on MMORPG.com is a good one as i see it.

No No obv DF's community can be summed up as a whole on those 2 posts/remarks. The OP is not being unreasonable at all..............
Darkfall have probably the oldest community of any game. Lots of people interested in Darkfall have a gaming history as old as when UO were released -97. These gamers stands for a more matured community then for example any of the carebear game delivered or under development - see WoW, Warhammer and AoC.
With age comes matureness. And Darkfall main board is full of matureness. A good community. Best i been on ever.
In any game there will be immatured gamers.
You taking cheapshots at a whole community cause of the few quotes you mention says very little about the Darkfall community as a whole but says alot about you and your intentions with this thread.
No - the common mistake here is yours.
Games communities begin to form long, long before a game releases these days.
They form on Dev forums and fan forums.
And more than that, you will probably notice that the behaviour of the two (forums and the game) interact.
This is where the "community standards" are born.
If the Devs and community moderators allow their forums to degenerate into a bunch of trash talking fanbois then they have no right to be surprised when the game releases and is dominated by the same people.
It's also surprising how a small core of hardcore fanbois or trolls or smack talkers can drive many others away from the game.
It's also really odd when you begin to notice that people who post things like "go back to WoW", "...we don't need you...", "n00b" and "can I haz ur stuff? LOL :P" tend to be gankers, zergers and griefers when the game finally goes live.
So, if you want my advice, make sure you stamp out unwanted traits in your community now. Your game will be better for it.
