Darkfall fans trashing hype meters?

No they are not just hyping the game they are interested in they are underhyping other game's.
Ok people can say what they will but the proof is there that games that were at 7.10 for along time have quickly gone below 7,add to this even on the DF forum ppl are being encouraged to do this and even more so a comment on the TCoS hype someone said and I quote "looks cool but gave it 1 for the sake of DF"
This isnt how hype works you give it a vote to say how it interests you but like I also said more important here is how the DF forum member's are re-acting to this,Like I said before I followed this game for a long time and will maybe still keep my eye on it but the community has done the title no favours,also the fact that alot of people backing up what is going on just made there mmorpg.com accounts in the last 24hrs doesnt hold much water.

The thread I read had lots of remarks how bad this site was and indeed it's posters and also alot of reference to more newbs to gank,maybe we read different threads or you only seen what you wanted to see.
I was referring to the thread on the Darkfall forums which called for fans to hype it up on MMORPG.com. I didn't read this thread through, if that's what you mean. Also, Darkfall fans being douchebags on a different forum is a different animal from the actual Darkfall community.

That is absolutely amazing. I've never seen such a mass gathering of elitist jerks before. This is the "mature" community everyone is claiming exists on the forums? LOL too funny. It looks like a discussion between the "hardcore" PvPers from WoW that think Arenas take skill.

It's impossible to de-hype a game! If someone thinks a game (such as WAR) is not worth any excitement then there is nothing wrong with them putting in a 1 as that is the level of enthusiasm they have. Or are you only allowed to give a rating if you give it a ten?
I personally couldn't be bothered to even give WAR/AOC etc a 1. Too much effort for something I have zero interest in.
Damn this mmorpg.com... it's loading for a half an hour, and u really can't figure out what is it actually trying to load
Anyways, im writing this post here just to get my rank a lil bit up, so i could hype my favourite game, i guess nobody has anything wrong with it, and yes it is DARKFALL Online! It is, it is, and .... it is.

You could think the game has some nice things and will maybe be ok and give it a say a 6 out of 10....there is more than just a 1 or a 10 ffs.

You're missing the point of HYPE. This guy that said that TCoS may look cool, but hes obviously not HYPED for the game, or else he would have rated it higher. His enthusiasm for TCoS is nonexistant. Other games will do that, I'm not looking at any new game unless DF fails, or doesn't release soon. My HYPE for other games are 1. I am NOT hyped for them.

Yes, it's the newbies from DF forums doing this. Frankly, it just makes Darkfall look bad.
On the other hand, same thing has been going for years in MMORPG.com forums, especially Conan fans dehyped other games like second job.
Hype is relative my friend. You think that there is very few games that deserve a 1, I think that if I'm not hyped for a particular game, i.e. I don't really care if it releases or not, and I'm not particularly following it, then it deserves a 1. Who says your philosophy on hype is more correct then mine?
You seem to still think that a hype meter is a judgement of how good a game is. Hype meter isnt judging the features, its judging the HYPE of the game. If everyone rebelled against Darkfall and gave it 1's and it dropped from the list, it would be justified, because the majority of people aren't hyped for Darkfall.
The standings now are pretty correct. I checked out the Alexa traffic rankings for some top games. Darkfall is at 40k, Chronicles of Spellborne is at 100k. Darkfall is more hyped then CoS, therefore it deserves a higher ranking. Warhammer is at 7k, and Aion is right up there with it, therefore they are obviously more hyped. Traffic ranking = hype. The more traffic your website is bringing in, the more people are hyped for it, hearing its name, checking it out.
tl;dr version : Hype isnt a game ranking like the actual game ranking system. Its a ranking on HYPE. It doesn't really have a basis from game features and things.

Now, I'm just waiting for a little more info before I rate it because the video really didn't impress me. I wanted to see game play footage, as in fraps running while someone is playing the game, like you or I would play it. Not a bunch of people running around fighting while the camera flies around in 3rd person chaotically.

You still can't get over the fact that hype doesnt equal features. A game could have all the great features in the world in it, but if I'm not hyped for it, im not hyped for it. If I don't want to play, I don't want to play.

To be honest, the same thing happens with many other games. So all the ratings/hypes are skewed. They really don't mean anything.

i read most of the thread, and i didn't see that many people saying stuff like "yea, let's get more noobs to join to feed on." i saw 4 people that said that, some of which said the same thing several times, so i don't think that's representative of the entire community.
also, you're right, i shouldn't have assumed anything. to be honest i agree with you, but i don't think it's just the darkfall fans that are trashing they hype meter, and people in this forum have even admitted to giving out 1's just because darkfall's hype is going up. i just heard about darkfall when the beta was announced and i saw the video and i was excited. it makes sense that the hype for it would go up shortly after beta is announced. i just don't think that gives people the reason to give it a 1 just because it's hype is getting "too high."
i'm excited about darkfall, but i don't even think i would rate it a 10, since there's some things it can obviously improve on. i would reserve 10 for being the absolute best, and 1 for the absolute worst, which is why i don't think people should be just giving out 1's (or 10's for that matter) so liberally.

it sounds to me like a lot of you are just trying to make the darkfall community out to be the badguys or something. yes, there's douchebags on the internet and some of them post stupid things on the darkfall forums.. imagine that. is it any surprise that you find people saying shit like "we're gonna pwn those newbs, let them come!" on the forums of a highly pvp motivated game like darkfall? absolutely not. at least it shouldn't be.
yes, i'm a forumfall poster, and yes, i think more people should play darkfall. not because i want to pwn them, but because i think darkfall is going to be the best MMO to date when it comes out, and i think others should experience it becasue even if it isn't the best game ever, it will be different, and that in itself gives it some intrinsic value.
i'll give darkfall a 10, no doube about that. i've been looking forward to this game for a long time now, moreso than any other MMO. WAR, on the other hand, i've considered playing at one point, but i decided i'll just wait for DF, and as of the moment, i have no intentions on playing WAR. does that mean it deserves a 1? i probably won't even bother rating it since i don't really care one way or another.
i don't need to make other games look bad, i just want people to see that darkfall is a good game (and that's obviously my opinion). darkfall doesn't get much advertisement and the vapor trolls have done a pretty good job of turning many people off to it. i just want people to know about it and hopefully even try it out, and if a few people come by mmorpg.com and check out the top games on the hype-meter and notice darkfall, check it out, and try it for a month, then mission accomplished.

what's wrong with unhyping those games? The people "unhyping" them obviously aren't hyped about them. They're expressing their zero intrest about them. If you believe the hype-meter must only be used in one way (positive) and not negativ, request for users to be only able to "hype" a game without any points.
As long as it isn't that way, it works just as intended.
Not that I even pay attention to the hype meter here, but theres nothing wrong with hyping a game you like. However, sabotaging other game's rating on purpose is pretty immature. Then again, after reading Darkfall forums over the past while, calling the majority of the Darkfall community immature would be an insult to immature people the world over. The DF forum is pretty much a cesspool.

a lot of people in this thread, including OP, are just upset cause their games are getting off the front page so they are forgetting what hype means. if your games had more hype aroudn them....the df fans wouldnt be able to do anything about it.

game i dont like = i dehype
