this is basically right by the way.

a lot of people in this thread, including OP, are just upset cause their games are getting off the front page so they are forgetting what hype means.  if your games had more hype aroudn them....the df fans wouldnt be able to do anything about it.

    game i like = i hype

    game i dont like = i dehype

just because a lot of people like DF and not whatever game you are complaining about, doesnt mean its wrong.  grow up.

FFS grow up or at least read the whole thread.

The problem is yeah ok you love the game rate it 10 but that doesnt mean you rate every other game(most you maybe never heard of)on 0.

If you cant be assed to read the thread and then respond, then dont bother to respond at all.

yes, i'm a forumfall poster, and yes, i think more people should play darkfall. not because i want to pwn them, but because i think darkfall is going to be the best MMO to date when it comes out, and i think others should experience it becasue even if it isn't the best game ever, it will be different, and that in itself gives it some intrinsic value.
i'll give darkfall a 10, no doube about that. i've been looking forward to this game for a long time now, moreso than any other MMO. WAR, on the other hand, i've considered playing at one point, but i decided i'll just wait for DF, and as of the moment, i have no intentions on playing WAR. does that mean it deserves a 1? i probably won't even bother rating it since i don't really care one way or another.
i don't need to make other games look bad, i just want people to see that darkfall is a good game (and that's obviously my opinion). darkfall doesn't get much advertisement and the vapor trolls have done a pretty good job of turning many people off to it. i just want people to know about it and hopefully even try it out, and if a few people come by mmorpg.com and check out the top games on the hype-meter and notice darkfall, check it out, and try it for a month, then mission accomplished.

You aren't voting how good you think the game will be but how hyped you are about it. If you won't even bother trying it, the right vote would indeed be a "1".

Ok and how about the voter's saying "this game looks cool but I will give it a 1 for the sake of DF"

I see you defending DF in multiple posts here so can you explain that?

Sorry, but I'm defending the majority of the Darkfall Community (who is not very hyped about Warhammer), not single individuals. You have my permission to kick the voter you quoted in his ass. Place it well.

It was placed in the TCoS forum but I will wear my steal plated boots :)

If I recall correctly, TCoS has some sort of "card" combat... even worse.

    LMAO best yet ...one sec....LMAO

What do you call this then?

    The Skilldeck

Skills in a character's Skillbook are not yet available during a fight; they must be placed into the Skilldeck to be used during combat.

The player must select several skills from the Skillbook and place these into the character's Skilldeck. The Skilldeck can be compared to a deck of cards as seen in many collectible trading card games. It consists of 6 rows (called tiers) with 5 skill-slots per row. Each skill-slot can be filled with a chosen skill, as long as the skill was learned and is available in the character's Skillbook. There are some minor rules for placing skills in the Skilldeck, but other then that the players are completely free to experiment and create their own fighting styles and tactics. Teams can coordinate the composition of their Skilldecks to increase their battle performance during large tournaments in the Quarterstone Arena.

    Combat

During combat only one of the six tiers is active at any time. Combat always starts at the first tier. When a skill is executed the next tier becomes active and so on until a skill is used from the last (sixth) tier, in which case the first tier becomes active again. The time it takes before the next tier becomes activated (and thus when the next skill can be executed) depends on which skill was used and the current attack speed of the character. To execute a skill, the player selects it with the number (1 to 5) keys (this is similar to selecting a weapon in a first person shooter game) and then uses the skill with a press of their mouse button. Once used, the skill takes effect in the area where the player is aiming.

In addition to this, skills can form combo-chains. All skills have a combo type and these combo types initiate certain bonuses if they are used in the correct order. For instance a skill can be labeled as an opener, which means that it starts a possible combo-chain. A skill labeled as a finisher ends the combo-chain and will do increased damage (or provide additional positive effects for the character, or negative effects for their opponent) depending on the skills used in between the opener and the finisher.

Being prepared is just half the work. A focused Skilldeck with flexibility to adjust against various types of opponents will greatly improve a character's battle performance. Players are free to play around with their Skilldeck and adjust it as much as they like to. They can change skills at any time (except during combat) in order to defeat a previously too difficult enemy. Players will even have the option to ‘save’ different Skilldeck setups. This can be useful if players use certain team tactics with their guild or if the player wants a special Skilldeck for use during PvP encounters.

Lets take away the fact I think you thought TCoS was cos but in all that copy paste that took you you maybe 30 mins you never mentioned once that TCoS is fps combat based and that armor has no stats so it will be a skill based game.

So again why is TCoS a card based game?

    eh, i wasn't very impressed with TCoS's combat system either... i think i'll rate it a 1. ;)

its not all fans (of all games) who destroy the hype meter in my eyes, its those who have one or more alt accounts on this website, and are using those to hype and dehype (is that a word?) games.

i know, i know, noone are doing that......because we all agree on, that those who do that are just sad losers, right?

I think this would have an easy fix, do it so people can't rate games if they just registered, requiring at least some quality posts or using the stars system next to that. Its scary to see the lack of response from the staff over here and how easy it seems to troll the system.

If people are actually rating games that have been released a 1 (whether its in graphics, fun factor, or all around) just to get their game higher on the list, then THAT would be a broken system.

You said I shouldn't rate it a 1, but at least a 6?  What are you smoking?  Just because you are hyped enogh about the game to give it a 6, doesnt mean everyone else is.  My hype for TCoS is literally nonexistant.  I would rate it a 0 if i could.  But because 1 is the lowest, I'll rate it that.

I will take a shot at you have no idea what TCoS is and indeed any other game you under hyped.

Thats fair enough but dont throw your thought's on this board, you want Darkfall and that is fair enough.

Dont feel the need to troll for the post count +1 or indeed to see your game be a success, trust me your word wont matter 1 little bit there.

Sorry for being upfront but you have no idea what this thread is about and just jumped in to state your point.

Just like we would be right asking MMORPG.com to stop considering your opinion. You rate a game you haven't even read about with a 1 due to your hype for another game, thus why MMORPG.com shouldn't consider your opinion as valid.

Really the hypemeter should be used as a guesstimate as to a games popularity. There are probably thousands of users that have issue with certain games that de-hype them out of spite.  I'm also sure there are jokers who hype games they hate to mislead people.

While it has been suggested in the Darkfall forums to hype the game (which makes sense, people in the Darkfall forums probably like the game) i read nowhere a suggestion to de-hype.

If the darkfall idea works as planned, it actually goes to show that the hypemeter is totally useless (if they can get enough users to move it one full point)
