In closing, go read the latest press release on this website concering WoW and it reaching 11 million subs. You'll see right there in Blizzard's words that only currently paying accounts are counted in the tally and that free trials and free months do not count as paying accounts.

I'm sure all the Guild Wars players, new or old will return for Guild Wars 2.

That's the spark that will reflame this game.

HELLZ TO THE YEAH!! The people who say no are most likely the ones who played one expansion or probably none, but who cares about those guys, mes wants me some GW2 with extra fries and pickles. I am one of those people still praying for an Open beta or something of equal or similar nature. I just hope it will still have what captured me the first time with something a little extra.

Can't wait to run through that world slaying deadly dragons Woooo! the feeling will be electric......ok i'm a fanboy.

    This is not a game.

Because it is instances, they can create great quests. Something which no free-to-play succeeds in, even pay-to-play games fail at it.
Guild wars isn't gear-based at all, you can get max armour at lvl 6, and keep using that forever... And at lvl 14 you can start using max weapons, which you can also use forever. Compare that to any other MMO, where you have to buy new gear every 3-5 levels.
Those where the simple things... If you paid really close attention, Guild Wars can be seen as the most massive out there! WoW has 11 million players, divided over hundreds of servers, so let's say 100k-200k/server. Guild Wars has 4.5 million players... divided over 1 server! You can contant anyone, team up with anyone, fight anyone. I don't see any other MMO having continental PvP. Guild Wars used to have that (tomb of primeval kings/heroes ascent). Or Europeans fighting Koreans, Americans fighting Chinese, etc. Guild Wars is the only MMO out there, that's able to do such thing.
And it's all because it is instanced...

This does more to reinforce my point rather than discount it.

Tell me 1 MMORPG that's similar to GW then... Not graphics, as about every fantasy game has similar graphics.

As I said in my post, there's not one, there's a ton.  I don't blame Guild Wars for the countless knock-offs, but there hasn't been any significant drop in product cost to justify buying it when there are no cost competitors offering much of the same.  I'm on the hunt now for games that are not like Guild Wars and the others because it is a flooded genre, interface, tactical system, etc.  It would be a much shorter list to name the few games that are not similar such as EVE, Shot Online, or Navy Field.

I repeat, tell me 1 MMORPG that's similar to Guild Wars... I yet have to find 1, of the 50-100 I played.

If I hadn't had the argument a hundred times before I would go down the list.  I would say "Well how about B ?" Then you would say "Nuh uh!  Game B has blue feathers!  Game A has red feathers!"  My point would be that they're both feathers, just in another colour.  Your point would be they would still be different because of colour.  I cannot make someone see similiarities if all they're looking at it one minute dissimilarity.  If a minute difference makes it a brand new exciting experience, then the good news is you'll always find entertainment.

So the only similarities are... They're both games? MMORPG's? Both have a fantasy seeting? Gameplay aren't the feathers, graphics and genre are the feathers. Gameplay is the personality of the bird... Or in Guild Wars's case, personality of the Tengu!

Guild wars is NOT like other MMORPG's!  I've played WoW since my fun filled days in GW and it IS like every other MMORPG.

The unique skill sets alone set this game apart from most others.  IMO Warhammer should have been more like GW and less like WoW

I hope lightening strikes twice in GW2!!!

If you ask a question on a forum and provide a positive and a negative option you can be confident that regardless of the truth of the negative option there will always be people picking it simply because they come here to spread their negativity. Guild Wars is by no means dieing, just because PvE might be a bit empty doesn't mean anything as long as the PvP is alive - which it is.

Provided the game is "buy once - play free for as long as you like" you might think so but reality is very different.

GW is over 3 years old and still have a number of players that all MMO's (besides WoW of course) would love to have. Quite a few of the members in my alliance (400+ members) have played PvE exclusively for most of that time even if that is a shame in such a brilliant PvP-centric game.

So if anyone want to declare GW dead they would have to bury the rest of the MMO-genre, excluding WoW, with it.

We dont need casuals in our games!!! Errm... Well we DO need casuals to fund and populate our games - But the games should be all about "hardcore" because: We dont need casuals in our games!!!
    (repeat ad infinitum)

Guild Wars is a keeper, a quality game you only buy once then thats it. Most people never uninstall it. Just take breaks, cause there not out money like they would be in sub based games.

GW is very exciting and fun to play. I would recommend this to any first time and veteran mmo players if they haven't all ready tried it.

    Enjoy : )

And how many of those people have actually played Guild Wars? There's no way of knowing.

Sooner or later it will. :( However GW 2 will be arriving in the next year or so. I'm certain whatever I'm playing will be put on hold to return to Tyria again. :)
