I liked this until I tried to run down a hill. Or tried to find the mount vendor.
1) If you could run down a hill, you'd be f****d and get stuck in the strangest of places. You'd notice that later on in the game. The world design would suffer greatly.
2) Why on earth would you want a mount if you can instantly travel via your map to any town/city? There's no need at all.
I have often wanted to jump or run down a hill but I got over it pretty easy. There was a specific design the devs had in mind and it has worked. However, the devs realized that they did put off a lot of players by using this design. That's why the devs are putting these things in GW2.
The mount thing serves no purpose with the current game structure. I do hope they add them in GW2 even if there is map travel since there will be a persistant world.

Will my character be able to jump without the emote?
Yes! And slide and swim and other stuff like that. It has been stated that climbing trees will not be possible.
Will there be mounts?
Mounts will not be necessary for travel, because traveling will still be possible using portals and map-travel. However, there may still be mounts for other purposes, but we don't know yet. Most likely, temporary "mounts" like Junundus or Siege Devourers may be included due to their popularity in OGW.
I wish GW2 did support climbing, like EQ2,
but maybe it's difficult for heroes/henchman to be climbing after you

Wait, what? Popularity? Putting those things in was one of the biggest blunders they made in Guild Wars.

The resounding opinion I have received among my Guild Wars friendbase is that those missions were very enjoyable. I am of the same opinion.
Once, maybe. But those have no replay value whatsoever, unlike most of the missions in the game. It's kind of like cutscenes: cool to watch once, silly to watch the tenth time. Thet key difference is that unlike cutscenes, you can't just skip them because you've already done them on another character.

I disagree. By that logic PvE as a whole has no replayability value.
I got GW in January.. I kinda enjoyed the game. But now, I am level 20.. and there is nothing for me to do. Sure, I am in a guild, I like the henckmens ideas ( comparing with WOW when you have to wait to form a group), but thats kinda all. The game have become really boring. Not talking about PVP, I found it really bad.
I seriously think to come back to WOW. I dont know, but after I played GW 4 months, I really miss WOW now. WOW have real action, in raids and pvp, is much more real, and much better for character gameplay. I am really confused. I left WOW because, I was maybe borred or maybe I was in need for a breake. But hell, WOW is best game. I've been playing the damn Alterac Valey for 4 years since WOW and I feel like to jump in right now. To bad my account is frozen. If I pay and come back, I will never stop the addiction. My wife told me that I am WOW addicted. She is right. I tried GW to leave WOW. I failed?
What do you do in WoW? PvP? Well if you think you're going to be viable in PvP after having played Guild Wars for like 3 months, then I can assure you that that is not the case. There's three campaigns and an expansion to play through. If you're bored then no game is going to satisfy you.

Both PVE/PVP.
Well, when i bought GW, I got just first campaign. Now, I barely feel to login, not talking to buy the other expasions. PVP is not so enjoyable. 5 vs 5 is not a big deal. I tried all arenas... I still miss 10vs10 or 15 vs15 or 40vs40 AV. I jump in 5vs5 but there is no fun at all. I played about 15 arena games in weekend, all of them ended under 5 minutes.... no action no fun. Just bang bang, end.
And one more thing. I think GW lack some social part of the game. Specially for instancing with peoples. Not talking about professions. Hmm..

Then what is your issue with being maximum level? Do you feel no motivation to continue with the storyline because the number next to your name is maxed out?
You're basing your opinion on Guild Wars PvP by playing newbie PvP? Very bad call. The second campaign is the one that adds numerous PvP options by the way.

In most missions, if you do the mission once as a ranger, and then do it again as a monk, you get a substantially different experience. And you can get something different yet by doing the mission as a mesmer, and then as a dervish, etc. And then you can switch to hard mode to make it more challenging and go again.
If you're riding around in a wurm, it's almost exactly the same every single time. Class doesn't matter. Build doesn't matter. Group composition doesn't matter. Hard mode doesn't matter. And it's not an interesting exactly the same, either, as being in wurms makes everything completely trivial.

You can't find anything to do in Guild Wars? How many classes have you gotten a character to legendary guardian in? How about legendary vanquisher? You're probably leaving a huge amount of content undone. Sure, it doesn't make you stronger, but if you don't like content, but only grinding for levels and/or gear, then perhaps this isn't the game for you.
Some people find endless grinding really addictive. Apparently you're one of them. I find endless grinding really obnoxious. To each his own, I guess.

It boils down to what you find important. I find the content in itself the most important - AKA the actual storyline, quest text, cinematics etc. When I've completed it once, however, it's complete and I find it difficult to come back to it. Playing through the same storyline as a different profession provides little difference to me personally.

I hope you did more then just getting to lvl20. In all three campains you get to lvl20 before even getting near to the end of the storyline. Not to mention all the profession combinations you could try, which lead to a completely different playstyle. In GW, lvling is nothing more then learning to play.
Umm how on earth do some of you people who claim to see lots of players EVERYWHERE you go,when it is an instanced game?90% of the world or maybe higher is totally instanced.I did see a few players like maybe 15 give or take a few at each hub,but once you enter into the instance you will NOT see another player again until you come out.
This is the EXACT same reason Raiding is such a joke,it cannot eve nbe considered a MMO anymore ,because you are removed from the rest of the player base until you come out of the instance.Raiding and GW is like playing a bunch of mini games, neither of it should be considered playing a MMO.
Personally i did not hate GW or think lowly of it,but it is average and not really a MMO so if you are looking to play a MMO,i would not look to GW.If you want to play a different type of game, built around an instanced world, then GW is not too bad.

Why would you want a mount vendor in Guild Wars? That's like someone with a cell phone complaining that he can't find a telegraph operator anywhere.
wrong game matey, this isn't an MMO
I was just catching the Whaaaaaaaaambulance for Guild Wars 2.
right...
well, thank you for that insightful and constructive input to the thread there...

Hello my old friend.
Then you need to get your eyes checked.
GW is a much better game than WoW in so many ways.
Hell, the skill system alone is better than all of WoW.
If I wanna grind levels like a mindless idiot I'll play WoW.
If I wanna play something that makes sense, I'll play GW.
And trust me - NO! GW developers do NOT want GW or GW2 to be anything like WoW.

I agree with you - the nightfall "mission mounts" were fun for me the 1st time but I had no interest in them after that
regarding regular mounts
why not? its fluff like the ingame birthday pets
serve no purpose (due to map travel) but riding them can be fun for some players
dont skimp on the fluff !

I agree
I think the issue for me is that the "mission mount" was too much of a gimmick
- the wurm riding is among my least favorite missions for replay
I'd rather use my own character abilities and not be stuck with some sort of player vehicle w "special abilities"

For sure It's not dying but player base has changed during these 4 years. A lot of new players came, a lot of old went away.
