the worst drawback for me is that even tough i am lvl 20 and i got all the best stuff i can get, and most of the best skills (elemental fire) i still cant seem to fight very well... i always die anyway i try,
If you're doing PvE, I think you've just explained your problem. Elementalists have three useful elements for many PvE purposes. Fire isn't one of them.
Fire gets damage and not much else. Everyone and his neighbor's dog can deal damage. The question is, what else can you do?
as I stated elsewhere, the april enhancements are nice but don't inspire me but I do look forward to what else they plan to implement "every 3 or 4 months"
What they've announced for April isn't all that's coming in April either. They have said that they won't announce it all as they want to keep it a surprise.
Can I dream about them finally implementing an auction house?
Originally posted by Quizzical Yes, but only in Guild Wars 2. Though I agree that it would be great if they did, at least as a way to buy and sell weapon mods.
They did mention that they can now finally include features they thought previously impossible to implement...so who knows.
It seems to me to still be a very active game though I dont play it much anymore. I lost a character due to some bug about a year back and anet was completely uncooperative but I still have good memories of the game.

I think Guildwars gonna be fine for many years to come. I have not played the game, just know a bit about it because I have read up a bit. I am a AoC player myself and I am used to see these notorious "OMG the world is failing"- posters making "<fill in here> dies" posts. But hey guess what, the game just keep ticking along getting better by the day getting more and more subscribers. Same thing for guild wars, the game is fine, keep ticking along and get more and more content by the day. This thread was basically just the result of yet another "ohh I need some attention now"-poster taking a crap in a mmorpg forum.
Here's a prediction for you: twenty years from now, Guild Wars will have more active players than WoW.
That's awfully distant, but it's based upon the idea that Guild Wars will have more staying power than WoW after the major new content stops. That's already happened with Guild Wars and it might be several years yet before it happens with WoW, but it will happen eventually.
Most MMORPGs are pretty dependent on a large playerbase in order to be playable. Guild Wars is a lot less so than most games. That means that a playerbase dropping some won't really harm the experience of the players that remain, so that it doesn't turn into a vicious circle that pretty much destroys the game.
Furthermore, interesting content has a better shelf life than grinding. I don't know about you, but when I go back to play an old game, I don't think, hey, I could go spend hours grinding. If someone wants to pick up a game that requires months of grinding to get anywhere, they'll pick up a newer game that has more people to show off their raid epics to.

that prediction... does it have to be that far, here is one for you: twenty years from now wow will be forgotten and they will HOPEfully try again with strategy concept:) it got more depth then constant grinding. idont despise warcraft, only the conecept of making "everybody" into super heros with the best equipment and those who are not they probably quit since the "good" ones show off their skills against noobs.
altough "almost" every single game is like this (even GW in a small part but GW dont have people showing off their epic stuff because its easy to get the same stuff) what counts in GW is teamwork. and the thing that counts the most in WoW is how good equipment you have:(
over to second thing yes most MMO's are dependent on large playerbase to keep playing. GW is just in need of having some HARD places where people get stuck until they find a good team:) but you can easily do almost everything with just henchmen so its almost like a singleplayer game:) but stuff like going to hall of heros and killing the heart of the mountain is what you need help from other people with
yes, grinding is not like a serious need:) currently i am recruiting people in lions arch and its alot more fun but if i am to grind lvls, i find another game be to the large amount of games out on the market
Here are a few features we are currently developing for April:
* Increases to account-based storage
* Improvements to character-based storage

We've known about these for a while andthey wererumoured last year to be coming, but as there is a grand total of THREE peopleworking on Guild Wars 1, these things take time...
New content would be Sorrow's Furnace 2009, new PvP arena's/Guild Halls... bigger storage has been expected for over a year now... it is NOT new content...

2) What about the rest of the year? That is a single update of much-needed features. What exactly do you think they're going to be occupying their time with for the rest of the year?

Yes please. That was the major drawback for me in GW. Needing to bloody spam your wares all over the place. Not to mention all those players who felt the need to spam in All chat.
I still miss GW combat though, fighting coherent mob groups in PVE. Adapting skillsets to make it possible to run to Droknar's Forge or the Crystal Desert missions. Beating hardmode with normal skillsetups. I miss these kind of challenges in newer MMO's. Only City of Heroes seems to have a similar kind of challenge. In other MMO's you simply grind for overpowered gear so you have your 'easy mode' .

They should just disable all PvE-only skills and call it "really hard mode".

I DID read it, in fact a day before it went live as I recieved it as a Press Release, and I also have a much better idea of what is coming unless your also testing on the Alpha servers and helping the devs too?
I have also kept upto date on whats happening in the developement and testing of GW and the coming attractions and I regularly talk to NC Soft reps about whats coming and I am also in the process of setting up a special edition Ascension Show for the April updates for people to air impressions of them when they go live...
However, I also know that some things in the update Lynsey Murdock (the chief dev for Guild Wars) isn't happy with some of the updates and is still working on them and will only allow them to go live IF she believes they are upto scratch for the game... The amount of scrutiny she puts on the updates is great, yes some of teh recent skill balances have been dubious, but other game changing updates get a lot of alpha testing and tweaking first and these updates are no different
It's true that the population starts to decrease as an expansion hasn't come out for a while, and the four campaigns do make the other areas less populated, however I do think that Hard Mode and the title for getting the bonuses on all the missions has helped to get people into the more onscure outposts from the begining of the game.

the thing is, that ANet have recently commented on the NC Soft quarterly report that GuildWars (in any of its forms) is still selling at an average of 200,000 units per month, at a fair steady pace
yes there is population decline, but thats more to do with people doing other things and only playng GW casually, which was teh exact point of the game unless you were a hardcore PvP'er

It's kind of obvious that no matter how hard you try to explain, GW is viewed as "an mmo without monthly fees". To be fair, ArenaNet adding all that PvE stuff didn't help get the point across hehe

ANET has said they will be adding new enhancements every 3 or 4 months
read the article - they do use the word "new"
this is NOT pertaining to tournaments / skill balance which are considered as monthly maintenance
storage increase will be in their first Content update due April (ANETs wording, not mine)
we have yet to hear what the summer will be bring with the second Content update
