Top 3 most dissapointing MMORPGs

Ok, I 've had my fair share of BS in mmorpgs, so I've collected 3 F2P games that totally shattered my desire to play them in the first hour(listed in descending order, 3 being the worst.)

1.Dofus

-this piece of sh*t claims to be excellent tactical mmorpg, and the screens for some reason look before playing, but beware this game isn''t worth touching even if you got the money for premium.

Features of uselessness

1.No Army-WTF did my entire force just leave before game even started, last time I checked 99% of TRGs let you have an army of cool classes.

2.Below Average graphics-They suck, and are  even worse then a normal TRPG.

3.Premuim Area-What, the you mean I can't explore most of this demeaning game without a premium account, screw you!

4. Limited Class selection- ya know most TRGs are known for like 16+ classes, this game barely has 5 and at that they are still uninteresting, oh yeah I'm pretty sure their no class changing either, what a rip-off.

Next Game-

2.Magic World Online

This game seems to play like a diablo clone, but I soon I'll disetch it and tell you whats wrong.

The Features of Uselessness

1.File Size-Huge 2G, and for what?! Some sub-par graphics and poor gameplay?!

2. Out of Date-I think game was in beta when I played, I mean WTF beta in 2007?! Your making a game this cheap in this day and age, c'mon almost every F2P game looks better than this.

3. Combat animation-lacking-boring, uninteresting combat animations that are repettve and equally lame make this game horrible.

4.Lack of things to do-so far this game just seems like buy items and kill monsters, what fun...

5. Everyone is exactly the same-For a 2GB game, you might expect a massive awesome detailed, character creation process, but no you pick a class, a name and boom your in, wasted.

6.Diablo Just did so much better-Everything in this game has been done 10 years ago by diablo 1 and 2, and they mangaged to do it much more effectively.

Finally the worse mmorpg is-

3.Sword of Solstice-

Looking for Ragnorak Online? Well this isn't but they made sure to steal its graphics.

The features of Uselessness-

1.Ragnorak Rip-Off-Judging by the graphics, this game has taken some of source for Ragnorak Online, and released it 4 years later without improving a thing.

2.Lets Quest-Wow, questing is like freaking chores, and seems to never end, seriously when am I gonna be able to beat up a dragon or something?

3.The Level Up Booth- How wonderful, leveling doesn't come just from beating stuff up, instead your get exp from the those retarded quests *cough chores*, and go to level up booth, how fun!

4. Attack of the clones- Prepare to see lots you running around since theirs almost no character customization.

5. Even if this game was good...- it takes too long to get through all stupidity that drains all hope for the game.

There you are my top 3 worst mmorpgs, feel free to use this topic to submit your own.

I won't go that far, but a good majority are. Though a few are quite playable if you can accept the flaws.

    1. Dark and Light

    2. The Matrix Online

    3. Tabula Rasa

I'm suprise anyone would put down WAR or AoC, they rock compared to these overly Hyped PoS.

    Playing: Nothing

    Looking forward to: Nothing

#1. Age of Conan - I hoped for a replacement for EVE. I hoped for good FPS-style combat. I hoped for an open world. I hoped for blood money system or true pvp looting (at least partial on FFA-PK servers). Was disappointed

That's pretty much it. With WAR- I knew what was coming. Only AoC caught me by surprise

    #2. Fury.

    3.Fury

#1 = WAR : I mean I didn't expect such a souless piece of game especially with such a huge Lore to support it.

Doesn't feel like Warhammer, doesn't play like Warhammer, therefore in my opinion is not worth it to be called Warhammer Online.

Sorry Mythic you can do much better than that, DAOC for all its limit was way better than WAR.

#2 = Vanguard : I never expected that Sigil would lunch an half finished game, which didn't run on 99% of computers.

The idea was good, the game itself was decent enough but the fact that half content was missing and no one could play it due to crazy hardware requirement fucked the game big time, killing it even before people couls appreciate its beuty.

SoE is doing good with it, but the comunity is compromised for ever, and a game so ambitious like Vanguard is nothing without a good comunity.

#3 = Taula Rasa : I would never expected such a pile of steamy crap by Richard Garriot, I loved the Ultima Series which I rate in the top 5 RPG ever, so it was a shock he made such a NON-RPG MMORPG like TR.........

Games which I predicted would bomb, so they couldn t possibly disappoint me:

#1 = DDO Honestly, only dungeons no overworld heavily group oriented, I saw the big fail coming from just reading the FAQs

#2 = AoC It looked too good to be true..........and it was

#3 = Auto Assault : Does anyone remember that? OMG an online car game, WTF the devs were smocking?

1.)  AoC  (Even the PvP'ers are miffed)

    2.)  Vanguard (getting better)

3.)  SWG (This is Star Wars???)

  • GodliestGodliest Member Posts: 3,486

    • Fury. A complete piece of crap to be honest.
    • Tabula Rasa. Seemed very promising and was very little.
    • EVE. Personally it was a big disappointment for me.

    2. LOTRO

    3. WAR

  • TorakTorak Member Posts: 4,905

    Geez, where to start?

Warhammer - like others have said, it nothing like "Warhammer", it's a variation of WoW if anything. Like we needed that.

Lord of the Rings - again IMHO it was just another version of WoW... a really dull version at launch on top of it. At level 25 or 30 I was still mindlessly whacking at boars and wolves....WTF over? Weee, they put in a single restricted BG playing as premade "monsters" and some linear instances.

Vanguard - what's to really say? Fail on the level of Epic.

So many more to list but I think these 3 are probably the top ranking because they should not have disappointed. LotR should have taken your breath away but instead most just let out a *sigh*. Anyone who was actually disappointed and didn't see AoC coming....dunno what to say. Why anyone would have thought funcom would have pulled it off is beyond me, they are sh*t company and always will be.

About 2 or 3 years ago I adopted a strict "no MMORPG at release rule. Never ever buy into hype and preorders under any circumstance. In fact never ever pay retail for an MMO. There has not been a single one released in the past 5 years actually worth the money. I do not believe in rewarding failure and with MMOs it's about 90% that the quality simply will not be there at launch especially if its a western made game. Odds are it will hardly even run at launch.

You need to wait a good 6 months after launch before an MMO is worth even looking at of course by that time, more then likely you will be logging into empty servers.

For me personally....these were games I had high hopes for:

    1.) WAR

(Just didn't FEEL like an MMORPG should feel, to me.  It felt more like I was logging in to play Unreal or CS Source every day, but dressed up in fantasy garb.  For when I need that PvP fix, I'll play Unreal.  When I need an RvR feel, I'll just organize a huge raid on SW or IF with my guild.  I have MUCH more fun doing that, than what I had doing the scenarios and keep sieges in WAR.  Just a style preference, I suppose.  And although I loathe BGs....I prefer them over teeny tiny BGs, and that's what scenarios felt like for me.  The "grind" factor was still firmly in place.  It just wasn't fun for me.)

    2.) CoH

(I think that although I THOUGHT I might like the premise....it's more of a 'boys' game.  I don't think most women dream about being superheroes, and for some reason....I still thought I would get into it, and never did.)

    3.)  _______________________

I don't have a third huge disappointment yet.  My next high hopes are for Runes of Magic, Aion,  Spellborn, and The Agency.  I certainly hope that none of them will fall in to that third spot. :(

When I think "disappointing" I don't think suck, I think sucks when it should/could have been great, or games that had something going for them that was really awesome, but and overall failed expirience.

    1: POTBS

NOTHING about what is essentially Pirates! Online should not have kicked ass. Turns out nothing about what is essentially Pirates! Online did in fact kick ass. Specific issues: Horrible PvP balancing, the fact that at about level 21 you can kill any NPC in the game, a completely disfunctional player based economy which was a crucial component of the game, and practically unplayable land-based game.

    2: DDO

My problem here is that in one sence I REALLY love this game. I'm a PvE focused player, and from day one DDO provided the best old-school team based dungeon running of any MMO ever. The problem is that it just doesn't offer $15.00 a month worth of content, especially when there are other game out there offer very good dungeon running, and a lot more. The ultimate one-trick pony, which would be fine if it was priced accordingly.

    3. AoC

I don't need to say anything here. The wounds are still fresh and many people here know about all them.

    Active: WoW

    Semi-retired: STO

Fully retired: UO, EQ, AC, SWG, FFXI, DDO:EU, PoTBS, AoC, EvE

Tried: EQ2, Tabula Rasa, Auto-Assault, Isteria, LotRO, Wizard 101

    Looking forward to: Star Citizen

    1) DDO - How can you scew up the grand father of all RPGs? Somehow Turbine did.

    2) LOTRO - While it has it's advantages, how can you screw up the grand father of Fantasy? Turbine did.

    3) Hellgate London- High Hype from the "Developers of Diablo", but empty promises.

    1.  Vanguard (a steaming pile)

    2.  Age of Conan (too linear and quest driven.)

    3.  Everquest 2 (for falling far short of what it could have been)

    In no specific order...

AoC- Nice game to lvl 20....then, grind, instancing, grind, bugs and did I mention the grind n bugs?

Tabula Rasa - Fun for about the first 5 minutes. Then just everything looked the same. Worst character customization in a P2P game. Armor looked the same, baddies all looked the same. Was just a boring ugly world, IMO>

DDO- To me D&D was a massive world full of travelling and adventure. But once I realized the entire game was all stuck in one city...I lost interest fast.

    1) Everquest 2:

Rushed release that forced the game to make many many core mechanic mistakes.  It just was not a good game and had so many terrible aspects that just punished the player for no good reason.  All the haphazard dramatic changes SOE rushed to the game in the first year just made it worse.  If it were not for the wicked cool community on the test center I would have left the game much sooner than I did.

    2) Vangaurd:

I really had high hopes for Brad and Jeff to catch lightning in a bottle a second time.  Personally I think they almost did, but they got into money trouble and then signed up with SOE which ensured the games doom.  I am sure they didn't have many alternatives, but doing business with a company that stands to gain more if your game fails is not a good prospect.  If only this company had someone in charge of the game who was a good business manager I think it would have turned out to be a real gem.

    3) Tabula Rasa:

I liked just about everything I heard Richard Garriot talk about this game.  It sounded so dynamic and refreshing.  Never have I gotten so bored in a game so fast.  My expecations were not terribly high, but amazingly I was very let down by it.

    1. Vanguard/Tabula Rasa - You name it , both these games just had so many issues not to mention the gameplay was horrible and lacked content.

    2. AOC - I really wanted to love the game but there was just so many issues at launch. I tried going back and even with some things fixed it just didn't happen for me.

    3. WAR - Way too much hype for a game that isn't that innovative and the gameplay is very boring.

    1) SWG-NGE(You can't even claim this is the same game as pre-NGE)

Not much to say as it's pretty obvious.

    2) AoC

I admit, I fell for the hype. Game SOUNDED awesome. I couldn't even get out of tortage before I quit, it was already obvious how bad the game was to me.

    3) WAR

This one only gets 3 because I was already cautious from the AoC disaster.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
    Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
    Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
    Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

    >> WoW 2004-2009 + Cataclysm for 2 months - hardcore casual
    >> Current status : done with MMO, too old for that crap.
