Yes I recommend everyone read the NEW EUROGAMER ARTICLE: "Crushing your enemies and driving them before you is superb fun in Age of Conan. With a little more work, PVP could easily be what redeems Age of Conan in gamers' eyes." All 3 pages of it:http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=310223 Again 5 mins of play 5 months ago is nothing to bring to the table and holds little weight these days, you seem a very confused person, one might think MPD?...
This article you talk about is only about pvp and it was actually written by the same guy. Here is what he says in the end:
"As we approach the half-year point, Conan's PVP systems remain far from perfect, and some features (like Drunken Brawling, a just-for-fun PVP mode which would allow players of all levels to compete with one another on equal standing) haven't made it in as yet."
"Yet many of the improvements required are more basic - more variety in the mini-games, a rethink of some World PVP consequences, and a further round of bug fixes on Sieges would all do wonders for the game."
So he's saying FC still has a lot of work to do regarding pvp. Personally the lack of meaningful endgame pvp made me quit the game.
What I was talking about earlier was the Eurogamer Age of Conan re-review (like I said, written by the same guy). You can find it here:
He gave AoC 6/10 and it's a good review imo. And what I've seen here on the forums, most people agree.

Most people voted it over a 7 here:
And it has bee rising the past few weeks. What does that tell you.
Metacritic gives it 8/10. Pick your favourite media review and go with that - what ever makes the reader happy.
These are facts and not broad sweeping statements that are not accurate - hence the guy who wrote the Eurogamer review failed to research properly that Drunken Brawling was canned, finito, gone... end of story.
All I see is people clinging on to outdated information that barely has any reference any more. Even the review here was wrote at a time before genuine game improving features and additions were added in.
And I am sorry but I hold the opinion that it is wrong for so many games on the list here to recieve higher scores like Last Chaos - it is just simply WRONG and that is what more people complained about rather than the score.

You talk about outdated information. Well, 95% of those metacritic reviews you talked about were made a long long time ago, most of them just after launch by reviewers who hadn't even finished Tortage. How does that give a good information about the situation right now?
It is a known fact that most people first like AoC but once they reach the higher levels they get bored and quit. This is the reason AoC got so good reviews after launch. It's also the reason why 85-90% of players quit the game after a couple of months. AoC is an ok game for a month or two but doesn't have that magic that keeps you coming online day after day.
I never trust user reviews like what they have on this site. They can be biased, made by shills or trolls. I believe Eurogamer Age of Conan re-review is the most recent review made by a respectable gaming site, and like I said they gave AoC 6/10.

I think a lot of the perpetually regurgitated backlash you see here on these forums is directly caused by a certain poster(s) that members feel is coming here to do 'viral marketing' (their words, not mine). People tend to 'fight fire with fire'. If you want these forums to be a less polarized place maybe you can use your IN with MMORPG.com and ask the mods to close out the many obvious multi-account-agenda-zealots who are basically making a mockery of this forums intended function. I am sure you are aware of whom I am refering to. If these people were permanently removed from the boards, this would instantly become a much gentler, kinder place. Edit for sp
I would encourage you to do the same, i have already emailed community@mmorpg.com a few times with very thorough examples and evidence with yet they have acted on, supplemented by further PM's from people pointing out certain things. Game conversation aside, this is screwing these forums up to no end and those people know who they are. It eschews the real context of topics when 20% of the posts in them are from the same person under different names. Such as this thread gives such extremes both ways.
Btw those statements are extreme sarcasm, but it's true I don't need to convince anyone, it's the opinion I have from my own concurrent experiences in game. Take a look at Straddens post here: www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/212780 you can just imagine the types of posts to follow if someting like that was posted here.
Many of the users here have done just that, I personally have sent in atleast 4 e-mails in the past 2 months, some directly to Mods I have coressponded with. It seems maybe the staff don't have the proper tools to verify that the accounts are all originating from a single source. It's unfortunate, it hurts the community here as well the credibility and relavance of MMORPG.com as an entity.
A troll thread is a troll thread, .... taking a pro or con stance matters not when folks are basically posting nonsensical rubbish (this OP) and 'nanny nanny boo-boo' to bait replies.
Folks have talked about some of the things posted here as bening 'viral marketting', it may or may not be. But the root effect is obvious. Walking into a church and loudly proclaiming "There is no God, Santa Claus told me so!" will ellicit a ton of responses .. it's automatic.
Either way the conversation that follows is pointless, believers will believe, others will call them fools, the world keeps turning and a real discussion is once again drowned out by zealots and their screams.
I don't have to hate on the Age of Conan, I have a crystal ball, it works perfectly because it sees backwards and history repeats itself. FunCom's attitude toward players and it's uneven policies, combined with their shoddy Customer Service turn every fan against them at some point ... I have watched it happen over and over and over during the last 7 years.
And it has bee rising the past few weeks. What does that tell you.
Didn't we just discuss teh rampant problem of people making as many user accounts as they please?? It tells me someone has way too much time on their hands.
That sharp rise followed immediately after a poor front page review here on MMORPG.com and the fanbois became enraged and wanted to lynch the guy.
And Yes, I really do beleive someone would go to all the trouble making that many user accounts to bump the number up, it seems to be the life's mission of a few rabid nutjobs around here to try in anyway possible to get some kind of public vindication of their personal emotional investment in this title.

If you can take the time to copy and paste screenshot s and add it to your post to prove a point that almost everyone agree from the get go, well then, I guess you just proved people can go to great lenghts just to satisfy their egos.
Don't get me wrong, this is not bad, the better you feel about yourself the better you are to people around you.
As for the main topic, it all boils down to whether you like a game or not.And to jump on the bandwagon of love or hate is just the same, it's an EASY RIDE WITH THE FEELGOOD MOB!

Yes, I think you are right. I always wondered where these review numbers come from.

Lets just say some people around here put their hands over their ears and scream 'la,la,la,la" It took literally 60 secs to put that capture there. Visual is better than verbal in this case. Many people forget, it shows a rising trend to the contrary. Captured for posterity
The low score has less to do with bugs, than with so much content that is missing or incomplete. Many BASIC mmo dynamics of the game are not up to contemporary standards. FC's conduct with regards to its playerbase has been horrible.
I understand that many people will say its normal for an MMO to be released in a state like this, but not only does that excuse not negate the truth of the charges against the game, it does in fact validate them.
For me AoC gets a 80/100 maybe low 80's so its a solid 8/10 for me to. However I am not bothered by the bad press anymore. On the server I play 'aquilonia' EU the population has increased substantially in the last 6 weeks and I am now seeing a steady state of population rather than the spikes at peak hours. My observations come from seeing:
* Global chat very chatty and in some ways its hard to read as it moves too quick.
* All of a sudden my items are being bought on the market and when I stick new items on they go pretty quick.
* Even last night i was involved in a PvP battle with at least 20 on each side. Probably a mix of 4 guilds on each side and that creamed anything I saw in WAR. In fact it made WAR's RvR look pathetic. Last night there were fatalities all around, the battle swayed back and forth and better still people worked together.
* Finding a group is much easier and for the first time in ages I am turning requests down.
* I am seeing a lot of rookies coming into the game from all the noob questions in global chat. Thankfully the population is quite mature so its nice to see multiple responses when someone announces they are new.
So 6 out of 10, 10 out of 10. Who freaking cares! There are loads playing it and there is plenty to do so from me its a big 'whatever'.
I thinke this is the longest thread in mmorpg for a longe while. AoC have to be worth somethinge just for that reason. I mean, the amount of people that have interest in this game is just insane. I see more AoC post than WOW post. strange

Yes. The fact that this thread is so long must mean AoC is doing very well. Good reasoning.
Don't you think that maybe the 10/10 in the thread title pisses people off and they feel like they need to correct it?
Most people rate AoC 6/10, like it or not.

You are aware of that all users have voted AoC to 7.09/10 here on this site?? So if you want to say something on what most people thing you could at least have referred to what most people thing, which would have been above 7/10.
Myself I give AoC a good 8/10. I have no doubt about AoC moving up to a solid 9/10 when DX10 comes around.

First of all I never trust user voting on sites like this. It's so easy to make hundreds of accounts and distort the results. Secondly AoC has 7/10 because many people voted 10/10 or 9/10 first few weeks after the game had launched. If they resetted the number and people voted today, I believe it would be closer to 6/10 or even 5/10 because a lot of people here actually HATE Funcom and would vote 1/10.
Like I said before, most recent review of AoC made by a respectable gaming site was Eurogamer review and they gave AoC 6/10.

Ohh.. hahaha.. so the guys that would vote 1/10 counts while the guys that would vote 10/10 don't. And for your information. The guy that wrote the Eurogamer review was the same guy that vote the MMORPG review. Quite surprising that they both were 6/10.
Finally, userrating for AoC has been as low as 6, but that was several months back. Now it is above 7. Normal people would take that as a sign of improvement, while hopeless haters like yourself, Lumache, would dig up some lame explanation. Take a brake from your hate cruzade.

I'm sure there would be A LOT more 1/10 than 10/10. I've seen tons of people write they will never buy another game from FC and they give AoC 1/10. I've only seen one guy post 10/10 on these forums and he's a known nutjob.
I still believe Eurogamer review to be the best one out there. It's fair and balanced and describes pretty accurately all the issues with AoC.
Sure AoC has improved but it was in such a bad shape to begining with that they need much more time to make it actually fun for longer than 1-2 months.

After having posted for about a month in MMORPG I have had quite a few funny experiences. Todays Age of Conan Review was another one of those, but just a minor bump in the road compared to all other madness in this forum. I will talk more about this further down in my post, but for now, back to my funny experiences here in MMORPG; I have had so much verbal abuse for posting about this game. I think AoC is a revolution in genral to the crappy looking MMO genre. I've been called a FC employee, a Shill (whatever that is), a salesman and so on. I've also read posts, from people typically with FailCom logo, like "I want to drag Einar Elingsensen out in my backyard and shoot him","I hope all FC's devs with their families go out of business and die", and so on. I have discussed with people that actually got banned, but then turned up with a new profile 30 min later and admitted it. I've had people making up weird posts in other forums like TTH about me to undermine my integrity. The worst thing though is that posts like above often can sit for days or so unmoderated, sometime even months. This is so unheard of that there have to be more behind this than just coincidense and sloppy moderator work. The 6/10 review today made me realize this more than anything. There are three mainpoints I want to bring up with regards to that review 1. Jef says: "Any discussion of Age of Conan is bound to get around to its visuals, and with good reason. The game is unquestionably the best looking MMORPG to date, full of eye candy both in terms of its lush environments and the startling attention to detail given to character models and movement animations. The motions are, for the most part, fluid and life-like, a far cry from the jerky, comparatively primitive offerings of other games on the market. That said, all the sexiness comes at a hefty price, namely the steepest system requirements in the genre, and the caveat that even with a three-thousand dollar tyrannosaurus of a gaming computer, you're still going to lag like a drunken wooly mammoth and experience significant frame rate issues when attempting to engage in siege combat (or really, any combat with more than a few people on screen)." This is not correct. AoC had performance and FPS issues some time after launch (according to players that played the game from the beginning). This is not the case anymore. There are hundreds of threads on this in AoC official forums, and the concensus is performance is way up. Me myself in example started playing like +3 weeks ago, and my really boring medio Rig (only nonboring part is my GeForce 8800) runs this game on high at 30-40 FPS. I have read numerous posts where people say they run AoC on high at higher FPS than WAR. So I think good old Jef took a shortcut here and recycled some after launch common knowledge. For lag, there have been some posts as of late on lag, but this is not the type of lag you will get due to high activity in an area. This is just high latency spikes that seem to drop in every now and then for no particular reason. 2. 6/10 is way too low for this very well made game. People keep telling me that the game I play has bugs. Well guess what I can't hardly find any. Game runs smooth as silk and I have only noticed one or two funny bugs til now (LvL 40s). Maybe I am not good enoough troubleshooter or a hopeless programmer (I think that would be to put it mildly), but this game looks bugfree to me. I am well aware of that every patch holds a ton of fixes, tweeks and changes for a reason, but I am saying these bugs are not glaring issues that will hamper the average user in any way. The game is totally fine in my opinion. When I started Age of Conan I was blown away. This game seriously holds the standard of Heavenly Sword and Lost Planet on Xbox360 for the guys that have tested those (and this is only the Dx9 version). This alone is a masterfull achievement for an MMO. When I started playing I kid you not, I went WTFOMGWTFOMG, this is the coolest shit I've ever seen *spasm* "I cut his FCKing arm off" lololol. I was shocked and I am still really amazed about how well this game is made. A mixture of the graphics themselves and the very welltimed smooth animations just absolutely fullfill all my demands on visuals. I could go on and on, but all in all i gave the game a 10/10 at start. Now after 44 levels I am thinking on giving the game perhaps a 9/10 as the crafting was not as good as it could have been. Anyway all this brings me to the conclusion that 6/10 is an outrageously low score. There is absolutely now way this game can get less than 7 or 8. Maybe it was those erronous FPS or bug remarks that contributed to the 6, but 6/10 for this game is way to hard. Just compare it to what other material available in the industry today and it should not be hard to realize that a 6 is way to hard on this game.
3. I am not a RPer, but I have read some of the RP guys in AoC's forums reaction on Jefs review. They are shocked that the reviewer has not found Ctrl+Y in order to pop up the emoticon UI. The game has more emoticons than any other MMOs out there and still is it not good enough. As if sheer number was not enough the animations themself holds extraordinary quality. My point is AoC is one of the better RP games out there immersed in a fantastic atmosphere which only RPers can appreciate the full value of. There is absolutely no real reason for why you can give a game like AoC same score as Matrix Online as somebody pointed out in another thread. It is completely madness. This game holds higher quality that most Xbox360 games I can find on a PC with DX9 and you still can tell me, an ex-console player, with important professor tone that this game is a 6/10. This is just madness. You see your intentions are just too much out in the open. There is no way AoC can have a 6/10 score. Where am I evetually going with this? Well, what this is building up to is that MMORPG and these type of forums that are doing business by advertising/reviewing games and also portioning out negative publisity through forum posting/moderation, is really not as objective as we want to belive. MMORPG lost all integrity in my eyes today as it starts to dawn on me why the forum is in the condition I described on top of this post. I am not saying it is all a scam, but I would not be surprised if there is more than an unhealty amount of influences to how this site is run. Am I paranoide, perhaps, but if you as a player think Blizz and Mythic with others are not intimidated by FC semisuccessfully launch of this beast of a game (Age of Conan), you are wrong. Because anyone launching a game that can offer better graphics and animations than Heavenly Sword in the package of a MMO is a major threat. If FC get AoC running, the momentum of this monster will blow a big hole in the whole industry. Blizz know it, Mythic know it and most of the other guys. They just need to pull strings and cross fingers till the point they have their AoC equivalent out. Finally I just like to end this by saying; Gamers out there, 6/10 is nothing but a joke. This is a 10/10 or a 9/10 (that by the way most reviewers gave up front before game launch) game. Gameenthusiasts, Don't let them get you. Age of Conan is a fabolous game just waiting for you to enter and face the consequences of real PvP (patch 3.0). I'll be over in AoC forums from now posting on daily basis about why FC need to wind down the money they waste on the MMORPG forum trolls. By the way, I give you remaining AoC fans the responsibility to bump this thread forever just to keep the finger up. I am out of here, Sayonara! 10/10 (9/10 if you love Crafting)
Didn't funcom brag about selling some 750k boxes at some point conservative estimates give the game some 200k subs still which is a loss of 550k players which equates to well over half it's players leaving which for me says that said reviewer would obviously fall on the side of 550k that quit I personally think a 6/10 is a bit high but that's mainly because reviews are totally opinion based it really does not say anything concrete about the game you love it nice but please stop trying to use "facts" to "prove" why someones dislike of a product is wrong most of the mmo world hates the game I think you should be glad to have found someone reviewing the game at this point that is that nice about the games state because I see it way worse than a 6/10.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

Hmm.. I think OP try to convey that the current version of AoC is much much better than the AoC we saw the first couple of months. He says the game is 10/10 now, even I do not agree with that, but I think most of us can agree that AoC is up there and that it is just getting so much better by the day. The more interesting thing is how intensely FC seem to work on their game. Patch after patch with awesome material just keep slamming inn over the AoC gaming crowds. I belive FC is moving in the right direction with AoC, and that they also seem to do that at a very high pace. 10/10, NO, but if patch 4.0 wiith DX10 and other stuff hold same quality as patch 3.0, this game will soon start to taste like a 9/10.
For me it tastes like bs, to be honest. I guess it all depends on what you look for in an MMO. If you only look for good graphics then yes, AoC might be 9/10. If you like PvP, gameplay or fun, I would say AoC is 6/10.
I recommend everyone to read the recent Eurogamer re-review. They also gave AoC 6/10.

You can find it here:
www.eurogamer.net/article.php

Call it a 'water is wet, the sky is blue' thing.
AoC is a very solid 8/10 now. Very solid!

"There is no way AoC can have a 6/10 score"
And yet...
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

I see more AoC post than WOW post. strange
The game in my estimation has gone up from 5/10 to 6/10 ,yes a solid 6/10
"after the time of dice came the day of mice "

Sure AoC has improved but it was in such a bad shape to begining with that they need much more time to make it actually fun for longer than 1-2 months.

stupid, if anything gets a 10/10 its perfect and cant be improved.. think before you drink before you post
